For 1 it doesn't do auto leveling like mumble does. I realized this because my mic is shit and everyone has to turn me up on Discord.
2: it doesn't do attenuation AT ALL. Like its in the settings, but shit don't work. I like to have my game/music up a bit while playing, so using discord I basically have to have game/music super low so I can actually hear when people talk.

There's literally no reason to ever use them if they have minimum range. ATMs are heavier and bulkier than LRMs, have lower ammo/ton, and it looked like they can't fire indirectly either. With the retarded piggy's original weapon do not steal minimum range there's a miniscule bracket where the ATMs do full damage, after which they have ridiculously bad damage per ton of ammo, and even on the 2 damage range bracket ATM12 vs LRM20 is just 24 vs 20 alpha damage. And because LRMs have damage falloff instead of Pig's Confetti Zone, they are better at brawling than ATMs, a weapon that was specifically made to be able to use an ammo type that maximizes damage at knife fighting range.

What a sad joke. They shouldn't even need a PTS to know that's fucked up.

They actually do have a degree of indirect fire, and the damage falloff is from 3 to 2 at about 300m, and doesn't drop to 1 damage until around 450-500 which it stays at until 1100m. Why would you ever use LRMs instead? ATMs are far better.

LRM5 is 1t 1 slot, ATM3 is 1.5t 2 slots. 5 damage vs 9 maximum, 6 at effective LRM range, 3 at ranges you shouldn't even be firing LRMs at. It's a no brainer.

The MRM40 is the highest dps weapon in the game by a pretty big margin, and while the ghost heat cap is 2, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable penalty for shooting two.

Spread could be a little smaller so that within SRM range you're spreading damage across a torso-sized area rather than an atlas-sized area, but being able to dump 18 dps+ from MRM80 out of something like a MAL-1R, without having to stare at the enemy seems pretty damn powerful. Maybe not for coring people out, but as a second line critseeking nigger in pub play.

Just about everything is garbo right now.

RACs get crippling ghost heat when you fire 3 or more of any type. They have low minute-of-angle compared to other autocannons so they don't deal pinpoint damage at a long range.

Problem is that they're downgrades, except murms might have benefits because lrms are so bad and it's an alternative for a missile slot weapon that has some range. Also heavy memeguns and snub nose pepsi seem to be pretty good from the streams I've watched.

Clans aren't so lucky with micro lasers with ghost heat, heavy flashlights and primitive tactical error missiles.

The RAC/2 is literally supposed to be a more powerful UAC/2 that weighs more tons and has less range. PGI made it a worse UAC/2 in every way imaginable except it can't jam until the jam meter is full.

The Heavy PPC is not more damage per ton, you get 1.2 the damage for ~1.5 the tons and heat with same range and cooldown.

Light Gauss is not more damage per ton either, it's 3 tons fewer for almost half the damage.

ATMs are not more damage per ton either, they are more versatile and more heat efficient but also less damage per ton and easier to take down with AMS(less missiles).

The idea that 15 heat & 9 tons for 15 damage with a projectile weapon at 500m is somehow broken and requires the addition of ghost heat, is retarded. Light PPCs are a lesser weapon than Large Lasers, why do they deserve extra ghost heat?

I did some preliminary testing, and found out that 1 AMS will neutralize an ATM3 at all ranges, an ATM6 at 300m or more (below 300m 1-3 missiles will make it through), halve the number of missiles on an ATM9 at 300m or more, and take out a quarter of your missiles on an ATM12.

But this was just ONE AMS on one mech. So since there are multiple mechs with AMS running about nowadays, I can safely say that ATMs are dead on arrival.

At least LRMs have the ability to track. You seriously think people are going to be able to hit the entirety of the volley at moving targets at anywhere near max range. Remember, the entire missile volley doesn't leave the launcher at once, they stream out and once you fire, not even moving your torso will influence the trajectory of the missiles that have yet to leave the launcher. Meaning, even if you lead a target during the duration of the stream your last out will still hit where the first out was targeted. You cant effectively deliver the entirety of the damage effectively like you can with srms or even locked LRMs especially when you factor in the spread of MRMs and not having the the ability to use Artemis. You might be able to make a case for MRM10s but SRM6 is still the better weapon. Past that, the weight, heat, slots for 20/30/40 make no sense. Its sandblasting garbage.

Sure they might be fine for turret warriors (both delivering and receiving) but then again so are a lot of bad weapons.

Like most of the new tech in this update, there are better alternatives for Mech Museum Online.

RAC sacrifices so much range, projectile speed, accuracy, consistency because >mana bar, etc that it has more than enough drawbacks to not stack ghost heat on it.

The shit they've done to those two weapons is completely unjustifiable on every level.

This is what PGI has to try to shoehorn in when they don't have ammo typing. They are terrible weapons in their current state. In TT you get a 120 meter minimum range. I can see a decrease in the damage at close range to 2.5 and then a minimum range with damage decreasing like Clan LRMs. They have to justify the value of SRMs.

Clan homing missiles period are just weak to AMS. It's sad what a single AMS can do to Clan LRM 20/30 shots.

No you fucking don't, HE ammo is 0m minimum range and the ATMs are modeling the different ammo types with the damage falloff since they don't have ammo switching. You can't just ignore the central special property one of the three ammo types on the weapon when the whole point of the weapon is to be able to use those three ammo types. Anything except raw stats with anywhere below optimal range doing full 3 damage per missile is going to make the weapon system worthless and completely outdone by the alternatives. Which is ridiculously horrible considering the weight, slot and ammo count.

Needs A1 for primordial terror and the really ancient days, and a panther partially concealed on a corner or behind a robot somewhere, so as to not give it too much attention. I think one or two iconic robutts from each 'era' would make for the best composition, and it'll inspire nostalgia in everybody, no matter how old, new, bitter, or retired they happen to be. This balancing is such a joke. Everything released is a mess. Why AC/20 still has ghost heat but IS UAC/20 has none is beyond me. Or why ATMs have minimum range, or RACs have ghost heat, or heavy ppcs are even more tonnage inefficient than on tabletop, and everything else.

Also IS ER mediums have longer range than Clan ER mediums, because PGI forgot they reduced Clan ER ranges because IS didn't have much ER at the time.

Let's not forget heavy goose weighing 18 tons and requiring a standard engine and a whole side torso, but it only has 180m effective range and a killer long chargeup time.

The heavy gauss is actually more or less accurate to original stats and function though. Heavy pepsi is getting fucked in the ass by the remnants of the Pig's refusal to position change out of cerppc not having real damage.

I just want some faster firing energy projectile weapons. Just some more variety in energy weapons in general that isn't just "this laser has more / less range / heat / whatever than this one".

The "Bombast Laser" stands out as a contender. A laser with a charge mechanic like the gauss rifle. a minimum charge time followed by increasing damage + heat the longer it's held until it overrides shortly after full charge. Extremely short duration beam on release. Maybe range could decrease with charge + damage too, so you could plink away at range or deliver heavy alphas up close.

They're either going to do nothing about the minimum range, because shitteroids and brawltards are going to cry about muh obsoleted srms (based on false or non-existing math) and muh imba clans, or they're going to do some "yes, but" in typical pig fashion and nerf the HE missile damage somehow which will also end up obsoleting the weapon.

Either make it a huge burst cannon with really long cooldown and make the jam essentially it's cooldown timer (leaving UACs to be the sustained DPS with some burst, normal ACs to be the sustained pin point DPS, and LBX to be the best sustained DPS AC's).

Or make it the best sustained DPS autocannon available, reducing it's cooldown while not jammed, allowing a person to spin up, fire for a 1-2 second burst, spin down, wait 1-2 seconds, then do it all over again (leaving UACs to be THE burst weapon, normal ACs to be pin point, LBXs to be second best sustained DPS and RACs the top dog).

Right now they fall in the middle, putting it in an unfortunate place where it has no purpose.

They need to remove all ghost heat from RACs, even when you don't trigger the deep-rooted cryengine ghost heat errors it shouldn't have it. They're already hot as fuck, they're dps and not alpha striking weapons, and unlike with other weapons with ghost heat there's no way real way to manage it so every mech is limited to 2 RACs max, no fun allowed enjoy your doalator grabdealers.

Is the Viper worth it getting? I kinda like the design, and from what I can see from the mechlab, it looks like a slightly larger Raven that trades ECM capabilities for a bit more armor and a fuckton of jumpjets. Seems like it'd be ok as a harasser/flanker, but does anyone have actual experience with it? I'm lookin' at the Viper-A in particular, possibly taking out the SRM and/or LRG laser to toss in an Active Probe and some heatsinks.

The rifle is basically an hot AC/10 that heat spikes the target with every hit.

The Clan plasma cannon is literally a heat gun that broils a 'Mech for no damage but triple the heat the rifle does. Between the two, people are going to have a shitty time riding the heat lines.

The heat limit is present in altered form. You can't get another mech's heat up beyond a certain point via flamers. I think they will either keep this behavior for plasma weapons or severely limit the amount that it can send someone over the heat limit, because the amount of damage taken from overheating is ridiculous in this game.

Viper is ok, like an overgrown light. Lasers and memeguns and a fuckton of jjs means you're incredibly mobile and can clean up damaged mechs super easy or straight up outfight other lights.

Only issue is that it lacks decent quirks which every light/medium should have.

Me neither, but that's where the meta stands right now. Clans rule the heavy weight class right now. The knigga, hambone, and onion are all okay but clans are better. Light engines will change this. Except for the Madcat. ATM's are going to make that fucker broken.

Or you could go try it on the PTS and see for yourself. A lot of the new ballistics for the IS are ass. If you aren't firing MRM's at an assault mech you're going to miss the entire salvo. Rockets are meme weapons. So far the only genuinely good weapons the IS get are the ER lasers, and the snub and light PPC's.
