There are three types players that use pistols. The first are those who use Grenadiers or Snipers and feel comfortable without an AT weapon (a minority). The second, especially with the free trial week, are fresh pilots who don't know better and eventually pick up an AT. Finally, some players have a loadout for the early part of the match using a pistol as it's only pilots. Once the first Titan drops they switch to an AT weapon.

Really the vast majority of players do not use the pistols as AT is a much more reasonable choice unless you are using a Grenadier to tackle Titans. This whole argument that Pilots will be op is nonsense as pretty much everyone already uses AT

It was actually pretty fair and balanced in TF1. You had to stare at someone for several seconds and keep them in your crosshair before you could get your instakill, so it basically only worked against Slows.

I don't know how it plays in TF2 yet, I can never bring myself to waste a boost on it.

Best way to use the SMR is to use the "Start, A, D-Pad, A" trick.

But in all seriousness, it's a pretty accurate gun. You just need to get a feel for the speed of the projectile so you can lead.

Not really, kind of? It's hip fire is pretty much at the center of the reticle but it blooms out if you rapid fire. Firing in bursts is most accurate.

>Tips

Keep up your air speed and hose people. Once you get the hang of leading targets that's pretty much it. Only ADS on wanna be snipers sitting still in the distance. Use Amped Weapons to DESTROY Titans. Also I recommend packing a thunderbolt once you get the hang of SMR as it handles groups of Titans (Especially Amped) where the SMR to wreck single Titans.

SMR, Thunderbolt, Stim is my go to pilot, can't wait to add the Mozambique into it with the new update.

Tips for using the snipers?

These things feel like fucking trash. There is no reason to use these things compared to anything else in the game. Ever weapon that isn't a sniper does the job better.

However, I am trying to get every weapon to gen2 so I can get them patches boooiii

But god damn, I fucking hate these things. Hard to aim with, boring to camp with, don't kill as well as anything else in the game, hard to use while going fast unless you get lucky (or really train yourself). Only one that's good is the double take. I loved the DMR in the first game but I hate it here.

My DT is at level 10, kraber at 3, and DMR at 2 I think. TIPS MY NIGGAS, GIVE THEM TO ME

I wish I could turn off and just not take this game seriously. I think it's really cool and one of the few PvP multiplayer games I actually *want* to spend time on, but I get this weird anxiety playing PvP to the point where I will actually back out of matchmaking cause I'll get cold feet about entering a match.

I see people saying they can turn their "try-hard mode" on and off and I wish I could do that. What happened to the days of 16 year old me where I could just play Call of Duty without giving a shit about if I topped the scoreboard or not?

it is decent if you don't want to use your titan and don't feel like just using it and ejecting immediately. otherwise, why bother. stealth eject is 100% useless, feels more like a tf1 holdover that got lost in the process.

Use your dodges to your advantage. Git gud at dodge shooting. Make you shot, then dodge right away, or dodge and shoot immediately. Always try and go for crit shots, if you can't make sure the railgun is charged up. Make sure to lead your targets, the railgun is very long distance and while a good player can use it at any range, its best used as a sniper. The cluster missile is also long range. Make sure to use the traps before the enemy might see then, use them as traps and not just swing them out willynilly.

Hover is best used to dodge shots/melee, make sure to use viper thrusts. Also best used to get into cover as much as possible with hover or otherwise.

Your core can be used while you're hovering, and it can be good to try and confuse your enemy. Like say you're hovering, then you're coming down, use your core right away, they won't expect you to be taking flight again. If you're good at aiming, the railgun can fuck up pretty much anyone and anything, it is definitely one of the strongest titan weapons. And it has good kill potential on all enemies, one hit kills pilots too.

Dash, dash and more dashing and cluster everything and throw tethers down near you to help you get away. Just crit stuff in the face while backing up or in and out of cover, then use your core to blow up everything. Tether nukes are fun as well.

Oh and, if you have your elec smoke ready, always use it as a deterent to your enemy getting closer to you. Northstar's main advantage is to keep enemies away.

Even if you don't hurt them a lot with the smoke, atleast you may have kept them at bay for a few seconds if they don't rush in.

Dropping your smoke and then placing your trap inside/just outside it is a good idea too. They won't notice it.

Nuke eject is always a good idea too, if a Ronin comes up on your ass, you probably wont survive. Might as well give him a final kick in the dick because the brainless Ronin mains always rush for their ultra 1337 sam-ur-rye execution.

There's no argument for stealth auto-eject, though, it only exists so shitters don't have to feel bad about getting executed
