Caveira's SMG is amazing, it's the one SMG along with Frost's that can take the heavy barrel and still remain recoilless. What exactly don't you like about it? You can make shotguns work just about anywhere, but you really need to play around the range weakness at all times and think several steps ahead, and even then, the moment you lose control of the engagement or get a single stroke of bad luck, you're fucked.

Whenever I do point defense I always end up feeling like I'm just waiting around to get killed (and I'm usually right). What can I be doing differently to feel like I'm actually making it more difficult for the attackers and not just bent over with my eyes closed in whatever spot im in. The problem with point defense is it only works out if:
1) You have a distinct advantage over any enemy on the entry point you're watching, so that you can ensure that you're the one that will get the shot off first (You're hidden well enough, or you're using a pixel-peek/reactive peek)
2) Any other entry points that you can't cover, but could threaten you, are covered by other means or people

If you can't ensure both of those things, you're essentially gambling on luck by point defending, and you should reposition if possible. If you can't ensure either of them anymore, the time for sitting still is definitely over, and it's probably better to retreat, or make a risky play.

There's no reason loadout changes to Hibana would effect Echo. Recruits have Smokes and Breaches as Primary Gadgets, while for normal chracters they're Secondary Gadgets, so they could (for example) make Bearing-9 a Primary Weapon for Hibana and keep it as a Secondary Weapon for Echo.

The first is not Ubis fault. The game has reached entropy. People know how to play, the tricks, the spots, all the nooks and crannies. When the game was new, it was fresh and interesting, and now people have reached maximum efficiency

The second issue is the lack of meaningful balance. Back during launch, when the game wasn't fully understood, people like Castle were still alright picks. As the game has gone on and on, we were made more aware of how shit castle actually is. He hasn't changed, at all, but we were just made aware of his uselessness. In addition, better more desirable characters were added. So before when it's 5/10 characters, you could reasonably end up with him, but now there are 15 characters, and many of them are better.

I could go further in depth but ultimately, Ubisoft has piled more shit on top of the game without first cleaning up the core experience.

On the subject of Castle, I'm a little upset that they have so much favour in balancing the game for pro league. Most people that play this game aren't at higher ranks where you need a strategy and your entire team working around your strategy to make Castle an effective pick. Castle wouldn't be so situational if they gave him an extra barricade or increased their durability, but this would increase his effectiveness in pro league.
It's the same kind of issue with Glaz and smokes. The obvious choice is to take away his own smokes, but since this would hardly affect his power in pro league they decide to change two other operators.

Also, just how the fuck are Jackal and Fuze supposed to take advantage of smoke grenades in their kit?

The thing is with Castle his Pro pick rate has never been amazing. It's always floated around mid range or so. It seems like giving him one extra door wouldn't drastically overpower him in the pros, but give him a much needed quality of life change in casual / ranked play. There are so many objectives where a fourth door would be perfect, but three is simply not enough.

I genuinely don't think they balance for the pro leagues, because had they asked anybody about BB pre launch everyone would have laughed at them. Let alone, you know, 5 months of UNSTOPPABLE RAPE

You know what the ultimate irony would be? If Jackal, when "tracking" someone, would get a thermal outline of the person they are tracking in their FOV - so they could use smokes effectively. This would probably have been a better use of the thermal overlay vs Glaz

spawn killing is when people place their crosshair exactly where you spawn giving you no chance to react, this is very rare and you need experience to pull this off.
spawn peeking is when they wait for you to run to the building and pick you off before you can even touch it, this is actually a legit tactic and honestly if you get spawn peeked its your fault.

countering spawn peeking is as easy as leaving your drone outside the building where you will spawn/push to see if windows get opened or someone is preparing to run out.
spawn killing on the other hand has no counter and is fucking aids but very rare.

I'm the best shotgun brawler in our group so I rotate between positions close to the objective that benefit my onehitkill range and still allow me to move back into safety once the gas is actually needed

the great thing about a shotgun is that, if used correctly, you'll suffer very little trickle damage because people just drop on the first shot without the potential for an HP-tradefest to happen

don't wander off like a jäger or caveira though, you're too slow and too useful to die in a trade in a different part of the map

if it actually is that way you should try to tone down your mouse sensitivity to the point where it becomes a smooth motion
you don't need to go full esl pro settings with 400 dpi and a single digit aim multiplier that doesn't allow you to turn around quickly, but being able to aim with more than 20-pixel-step accuracy will benefit you in the long run once you get used to it

Laser are worthwhile if you know when and how to use hipfire in the first place, and if you have good enough situational awareness to know when and how you should be hiding the laser dot. Basically, only put them on shotguns and pistols when you're just starting out and have enough shit to deal with, and then when you feel you have a good enough handle on the rest of the game that you can spare the brain power, you can equip lasers and add worrying about crosshair placement to your routine.

The laser is almost always worth the drawbacks, but you do have to be mindful that in a few specific circumstances it can fuck you over if you don't play around it. One good example is the kitchen area on plane, where if you're trying to clear it from the cockpit stairs side door using the normal "slicing the pie" method, you are going to be obvious as hell (and a very easy prefire target) because the laser sticks out a lot more on those blue walls in those specific lighting conditions.

I'm the guy that's been working on the shotgun tests, this is something I've briefly looked into. During the transition to ADS it does seem to tighten the spread but I haven't got any kind of data to support it. It's something I'll definitely be testing as well as fire rate and semi-auto recoil.
