In all honesty even if it wasn't overpowered I just found excruciatingly frustrating to go against. My autism forbids me from letting an obvious DR spy live because I know he'll come back and get me when I'm not paying attention or he'll just annoying and kill some poor schlomo on my team. If a shitty spy is being obvious coming up behind me I wanna punish him for it by killing him, but instead he just feigns and fucks off only to come after 10 seconds to annoy me again leaving me overly paranoid or I have to waste my time chasing him down making sure he's dead. How will valve treat the banners in the future?
The shotguns are getting revamped with the panic attack actually being good now
The mantreads are good because you can bomb medics much easier, scouts don't push you back and you can move at weird angles

Why would a pocket run a buff banner or a battalion's backup? Are they doomed to just being pub weapons?

if they ship the update like this, the amby is dead, a non perfectly accurate gun will never be able to headshot in this game.
DR will still be usable sometimes, but since it takes 20 fucking seconds to recharge with no way to speed it up except etranger/big kill, i'd see the % of spies using it drop by at least 60%

Diamondback needs to have something done about the fact that you can look at a Spy who's disguised and have no idea of his insta-crit potential. My autism went off today after I realized the Spy is a support class that hardly supports his team. He is meant to be a flanking pick class, but he sucks at flanking and he sucks at picking, so why not give him more ways to support the team other than poking people in the back? Here's some new weapon types that could be used for that.


Dart Guns: a new type of primary for the Spy. These have slower reloads, slower firing speeds, and do a lot less damage. In exchange, they put debuffs on enemies. The debuff wears off over time, and the gun can not be fired again until the debuff wears off. Could potentially not leave a hit marker, for added sneakiness.

Tranq Gun - A single shot pistol that applies a slowing effect. Movement impairing effects suck, and there's already plenty of weapons that do that, so this could slow things like firing speed or reload speed. Good for neutering that star player on the enemy team.

Tracer Round - Allows everyone to see players through walls. Lets your team take out high priority targets easier. The enemy team would also be able to see their teammate through walls, so as to make it apparent their teammate is traced, but not immediately.

Poison Dart Gun - Applies a bleed-like effect. Something not a sucky as bleed.


New PDAs: Because why bother with the sapper when you could just play Demo?

EMP - A tossable EMP grenade that doesnt disable a sentry, but makes its turn radius slower. Makes it easier for teammates to peek on it and clean it up.

Briefcase - The idea of a class being able to pick up ammo and health packs has been around for a while, most commonly as an ability for the Scout or Heavy. I think the Spy would be well suited for it. Sneak to the enemy side, steal their stuff, and deliver it to your team. Not a sapper in the slightest, because the enemy team wont always have an Engineer. Fill that slot with something useful.

Let the Spy do some actual espionage and sabotage. He is a Spy, after all.

I run det because of the aoe fire at range. If you time it right everyone will be on fire all the time. The being able to remove stickies is great, the jumps make pyro much better. Badlands for example you can jump to spire from both sides that are raised. Not to mention you can take strange routes that people don't expect pyros to take. It gives pyro some much needed mobility.

I dont know, I can tear through a scout or demo with no problem even without a pocket with me. Theres no aiming in the game and its a source game so you can still bhop quickly even as heavy, so I dont really see a downside to a class with 300hp compared to 120.

Except you're wrong. Close range to point blank headshotting might be doable on the average valve server, but it's by no means an easy feat in real competitive. It's either extremely lucky or skilled.

Real talk: Ambassador allows a sufficiently skilled Spy to not have to depend on the unreliable, often suicidal backstab to contribute to the game. It gives him an option against enemies that aren't backstab-able at all due to positioning and map design; this is rather important due to Spy's lack of vertical mobility. For this reason it is one of the (too) few countermeasures against snipers in positions that would normally allow them to shut out all non-sniper threats.

The method of adding random spread to the first shot won't even prevent long range headshots consistently, so neither side will be satisfied.

We do, though. Bhopping doesn't work because you can't retain any momentum because of the hard cap. It doesn't matter how good your air strafing is. The mantreads will maybe get you more air strafe speed when jumping normally, but you also just always cross more distance that way. It's not going to be significant.

Steak was never really used for it's intended purpose in competitive if I can recall, heavies only ate it once for rolling out with the fists of steel (which led to both of them banned), and only used it to feed teammates afterwards. I think valve needs to completely redesign this weapon as well, since nobody smart used it's minicrit + speed buff for killing people with melee in the first place.

Alright forget all this changelog bullshit for a minute, I got a burnin' question: Why do pubbers insist on playing pyro ON ATTACK? They just get fucking shredded by defenders with more range, better positioning and higher damage output. And yet I consistently see 2-3 pyros trying to push a cart before getting fucking gibbed.

Maybe they need a pyro to spycheck. After all, pubs are pretty much spy playgrounds. But that only takes 1, maybe 2 pyros for particularly bad infestations.
Maybe it's handy to have a pyro to airblast the defenders uber combo. But that still only really requires one. And RED team ubers are usually counter-ubers, and pub pyros almost never back up the BLU uber anyway.
Maybe it's because pyros are a lot stronger when there are no medics. But defenders typically have loads of easy access to healing, even without a single german physician.

Almost all of these changes are bretty gud.

I like the new Flying Guillotine change. I wonder if it'll take it off the whitelist in comp. Probably not. I would have done something like just lowered the overall damage by 15%, removed minicrits, and given it a stock amount of ammunition (like 2-3) that could be refilled by ammo drops. If set to 0(this will be the Valve server default) you can only endless taunt during setup time. If taunting outside of setup you are restricted to 3 seconds of taunt max(for freezecam screenshots or whatever) and that particular taunt is then put on a cooldown for the next 15 seconds.

The liberty launcher is pretty alright where it stands. If anyone wanted to make it a real meta weapon, they'd just reduce the damage reduction per rocket from 25% to 20-15%. The sniper shield nerfs were competitive-centric which is cool because snipers are the most out-of-place and generally overpowered mechanic in the game. I don't even play HL, and I'm happy to see something like the DDS and Razorback get curbstomped. The anti-fire mechanic is to ward off the effects of flares if you actually were that clueless about it.
