Why are people who play mercy exclusively in comp so... inept? I've had several games with people with +20 mercy hours on the current season that perform worse than bots when it comes to awareness.

They never play with the team, and hold onto rezzes (and die) because all they want is to get that one huge rez that they're never alive for? Someone please explain.

Soldier is no brain, his extremely forgiving. His healing/sprint mean a lot of the time you don't get punished for poor positioning and splash damage/automatic weapon make him pretty easy to play mechanically.

Is playing Reinhardt in the meta no longer possible?

I feel like my whole team is now off on their own doing what they feel is best and not grouping together behind my shield/healing me in fights. It's leading to matches where I get medals like this, but I feel like I might just be better off as a different hero at this point. I just want to main the big protector of the group ;_;

I also only really ever solo-que, so maybe that's my issue? I'm not sure what to do at this point but any tips on Rein or suggestions would be nice!

Roadhog and S76 can self sustain and as a result you can worry less about those two as a healer. The rest of the characters are fragile squishies but Genji benefits from high mobility so he should theoretically be able to move around health packs. At that point Junk and Hanzo are the only real characters that need a healer and since they don't have tank levels of HP a secondary healer will do (Zen or Lucio) however that may or may not be the right choice that your team needs as it depends on the enemy team's composition and the game mode you were playing.

Also, I don't claim to be great at this game. I'm only high plat. But I was placed in gold, and I know for a fact comp is all over the place in that rank - it still is in plat. But my point is that you shouldn't give up on him,
because people won't even be following a meta half of the time.
Talk with your team, coordinate manually. You can still do well even with an incredibly anti-meta team at this level, so don't get too disheartened.
