Ah okay. Yeah I guess that is true. Gwent is allowing for more consistency than SV and hearthstone do, so you can make more synergistic/combo decks
You start out with a huge hand size in GWENT while in SV and HS you only have 3 cards at the beginning
The mulligan works in GWENT different aswell, you can't get a card back that you mulliganed away

When you design a deck you have to account for bricks and minimize the odds of drawing badly
This means:

>design the deck with a good mana curve
>get lucky
I really wish decks weren't so inconsistent in SV, like allow us to choose one card that always appears in our opening hand

Oh god, I should have explained their retail model. It's only early access because they're working on other game modes.

The DLC is there because, they don't have random boosters (which they also hate). You can buy the starter pack of the factions you like (There are 4 factions). And if you want to delve even further you can buy the Expansion pack of the factions you like. None of it is randomized and you get all the cards of that class if you buy the Starter + Expansion. You choose one of the starters and get it for free after the tutorial which runs you through all the factions.

Anyway, I'm starting up the game now. I hope it's good

That's why one their emphases is working on robust AI opponents. They have 24 AI personas right now that they've developed with help from a Uni in Canada (Going by this long-ass post on of the devs made in the Steam discussions). These guys have certainly been round the bend more than once and know that when online card games die, usually that's it, you can't play them anymore. They're addressing that with this, so that if the game ever shuts down online, you can still play this game on your own

It's improved a ton since creation (it was absolutely awful and literally the server was down more often than it was up), but mostly you should only bother if you're a Fate fan, or at least love the idea of historical and mythological figures turned into superhuman godlike beings battling it out. The chance to roll a hero of the highest rarity is below 1%, and it costs 3 gems (roughly a little below $3 worth of premium currency though you stock up as you play) to roll for a single card. So just don't expecting anything like the Legendary generosity in Shadowverse. Thankfully they've incorporated events giving out free promo 4* (second highest rarity) heroes.

I want to spend 7k vials on an atomy deck, but the expansion will be out soon. Will any of the expansion leggos be meme-worthy?

I use a Gawain/Otohime deck for dailies although I try to avoid doing Sword ones at this point. Most of the time Gawain is only used as enhanced and he usually doesn't cost subtract anything. I haven't played the deck a lot but I've gotten turn 5 Otohime off against a DS player once, which I guess was alright.
