The charm editor works for XX as well (if it's the one I got, that is) and you can use JKSM to pull the extdata for XX to modify it (since the extdata is the savedata for XX/X/Gen). The editor will let you know if it's a bad charm and if you don't catch it the game will null of the sills on it (but if it's equipped then the Guild Card might crash when you look at it).

You won't be able to edit that charm in Generations because the save editor won't let you. Also, most of the Gen charms will be fine in XX because of G rank slots and armours.

Just get max value Tenderizer, sharpness, handicraft, gunner, elemental charms with 3 slots and they'll be fine in XX. Ill upload my list.

As someone who is new to monster hunter, i was reading up on the weapons and i think i like the idea of the Insect Glaive in Monster Hunter World. Hello, /mhg/. I completely new to Mon Hun, but I've gotten really hyped for MHW based on what I've seen. Is there any lore/artwork/books that I could read? I've already spent a bunch of hours looking at the various monsters on the wiki

Mixed sets are primarily used for autistic minmaxing but sometimes it's worth losing a weak skill for a minor appearance change or tweaking resists, the latter of which you can't replicate with transmog alone.

You either instantly negate any anti-powercreep effect punishing mixed sets had or you require fullsets to be even more mediocre to balance it out since there will be an assumption of two additional user-added skills.


Ideally MHW will have transmog like MHXX but with the addition of being able to mog across melee/gunner class restrictions (the only relevant balance aspect comes from what you can EQUIP not what you look like, after all, and said balance is the only point of the armor distinction) and with the removal of the grindtastic arbitrary token items+zenny cost per piece per use; transmog will solve any aesthetic issues players have, and MHXX's system already implements my desired approach by requiring you to have both pieces of equipment owned in order to mog one to another so you have to earn both your stats and your appearance. Ideally it would be unlocked via progress as another equipment chest menu option, like armor pigment adjustment and unlocking the cycling rainbow pigment option have been for ages.

Getting your bug stats right was a pain in the dick in 4U unless you knew exactly what you were doing, but then again there was exactly ONE bug (effect extender, same for cut or impact bugs) actually worth making so as long as you knew the steps to get it you really couldn't fuck up. Cross/Gen de-emphasized the extender bug and vastly simplified feeding/upgrading it and now speed bugs are basically the best but whatever you do you pretty much can't fuck it up. In both games upgrading the stick itself works via upgrade trees like all the other weapons; you either look up the whole tree online beforehand or risk dead-ending into something shitty. No word on what if anything they'll do to it for MHW yet.
