I'm a brainlet, someone tell me if my math is right for figuring out how much of a potency loss Onslaught is compared to Fell Cleave

Cleave is 500 potency and costs a GCD so I compared it to the average potency of a GCD spent on a Butcher's Block combo, which is (150+200+280)/3 = 210. So a Fell Cleave is a potency gain of 290. 290/5 is 58, which should be the potential potency gain of each 10 Beast Gauge if you spend it on Fell Cleave. So that should mean that Onslaught is a 16 potency loss compared to Fell Cleave, right? Since Onslaught is 100 potency and costs 20 Beast Gauge (50 average potency gain per 10 gauge spent).

That's not too bad for a 20 yard gap closer. If my math is right it's probably a potential DPS gain if you get even one extra melee auto-attack out of it.

I'm only 63 and it feels pretty simple right now since you can basically spend your CDs whenever you want without having to worry about stacks. But I think it will be fine at 70 with all the new skills added in. I think the gameplay is basically going to be spending resources as you get them most of them time and then timing it to sure you have infuriate & 100 meter stocked for each Berserk & Inner Release burst window.

I leveled DRK while I was waiting for SB and I gotta say I really missed having actual defensive CDs. And as usual Inner Beast giving on-demand mitigation whenever I need it is amazing, especially since you can stock more than 5 stacks now. Overall I'm enjoying it a lot more than I did DRK.

Medica II is the most effective group heal, but it's wildly expensive, far too much so to be rolling it as a HoT when 90% of it will just be overheal.

Medica I is the basic catch-all. In most situations, it's an appropriate amount of healing to cover light to moderate AoEs without overheal/wasted MP.

Medica II is great when you want to have rolling HoT over a set of incoming AoEs or need the extra AoE range to hit the entire party because your ranged are bad and/or hate you.

Cure III is for for explicity high damage attacks that need to be topped back up immediately (ex. A11S during Photon->Whirlwind).

Assize basically replaces Medica 1 or can be combined with other heals as needed, or just used for damage + MP regen, depending on the situation.

The new Confessions based AoE pretty much counts as a free Medica I when it's available.

Plenary is something you shouldn't be paying attention too. Depends too much on rng and is only distracting of what you should be doing.

You wish, plenary only heals people with confessions on them.

Do I have to max every stat in the anima quest where you use the crystal sands? Does the stat you upgrade there affect the lux version of the wep or is this just a time sink.

Don't forget, if you use two factor authentication you get a free teleport destination.
That should alleviate costs until housing opens up, if you don't have a good stock of aetheryte tickets.

I felt pretty inadequate as SAM until I hit 62 and then it was just HOLY SHIT KENKI EVERYWHERE AN UNCEASING STREAM OF SWORDS RAMMING YOU IN THE FACE and now I'm having some serious doubts about the jobs balance in the complete opposite regard.

I think it's really too soon to say. Combat changed a fair degree and while some jobs appear simpler on the surface I have no doubt there's still some hidden depths. SAM, for example again, is simple to play but not so simple to master.

Thinking of getting back in. I barely dented the surface when I last played, I only got to level 52 and didn't finish the 2.0 story. I don't have stormblood though, so just getting started again would cost me what, £40? Which is the price of a whole new game. I leveled to 60 before doing them as they don't give you any ability, so I just followed the trail.

Is endlessly grinding PotD for hours and hours the single most horrible experience this game has to offer? I think it is, it might be the worst out of any current MMO out right now. Whoever came up with the game mode and gave it enough incentive to make it the only viable way to level up quickly needs to be burned at the stake.

Not much has changed with it, though it does feel like TP regen has gone up by a ton. There's a new ability that allows you to ignore positionals for a little bit, so combine that with PB or a situation where getting positionals might be a pain (1st SB dungeon second boss for example) should be cool as hell. i've yet to try it out tho, plowing through the MSQ. Punching shit is always fun, so pick it up again if you don't mind getting mad about not going fast enough.
