if you want to play it for more than just fun, more paladins would certainly be better as you'll be having to rely on blue dragon summoners so someone doesn't stall until they draw michizure. without the linked deck you won't consistently get the paladin out early. you could replace a few cards for tribute dolls though if the deck is too expensive. it's just extremely gimmicky and anon is right, you may as well throw a poly in a DM 3sd deck if you want to use the paladin.

You know, after reading about how xyz summoning works it doesn't seem so bad. It's like fusion without poly, and both monsters need to have the same cost so the restriction change is alright too since it's not like the levels are supposed to add up.

Then again, I don't know about the power creep that the XYZ themselves brought, so who am I to talk. But it doesn't sound nearly as extravagant and complex as everyone made it look

There is no such thing as a good or bad mechanic.
The game is run by archtypes and if an archtype is good then the mechanic it uses is going to be good.
Fusions were good with E-Heroes and Shaddolls.
Rituals were good with Nekroz and Gishkis.
Synchros, Xyzs, and Pendulums had a lot of good archtypes because they received a lot of attention in their respective anime.

Even if you're not bright enough to realize this, it's still asinine to dislike a mechanic simply because you don't want to learn how it works.

Guys, help. I'm stuck between Dark Voltanis (already have 1), Dimension Gate (already have 1), and Red-Eyes Meteor Impact Dragon (have none) to decide for my 2 SR picks.

Voltanis is awesome with Ultimate Providence so I was going to make a Counter Trap-focused deck. Dimension Gate is good for protecting boss monsters. Meteor is great for forming a lock with 2 Meteors out, made more enticing since Supervise is out and there's all this Red-Eyes support.

Compelled to take 2 D Gates since Paradox probably won't be for a long time but I question if I really need 3.

A good example would be the current meta. The best deck of the format uses Tribute Summoning as its main mechanic, and it rarely touches the extra deck outside of emergencies. Synchros and Pendulums are virtually unseen outside of when you tech in Windwitches. The biggest Xyz deck right now doesn't even Xyz summon things properly, its monsters just sort of appear on the board.
