Just getting back into the series. Tamers really was too good for this world, the rewatch confirmed it wasn't just nostalgia-goggles. The dark masters arc of 01 felt really tiresome in an otherwise entertaining watch, and 02 was just so bad. Not sure whether to go to Savers or Frontier next, not really big on frontier's partnerless story.

At least on the game side, Cyber Sleuth and Next Order were super enjoyable throughout.

It looks like they're trying their best to fill out evolution lines, and now maybe even groups like the Four Holy Dragons. Digimon Tri is pretty good. From the way people talk about it I thought it would be an abomination or something. Though looking properly, most of the complaints seem to be petty things like "why haven't they explained hackmon's purpose yet" "why is gennai evil" "child level attacks shouldn't have any effect on ultimates" or "only taichi and yamato should have ultimates".

Sure, there are definitely pacing issues. I also feel they should've made a new evil instead of re-purposing gennai and that patamon should've gone ultimate in movie 3 instead of 4. I also don't mind Mei as a character so I suppose that's another reason I don't hate tri. Tri is better than 02.

He evolving in movie 3 wouldn't made a lot sense since he was completely infected once the action started, and he beat the virus at that point or something it would kinda ruin the entire plot, besides HeracleKabuterimon solo stand inmediately became one of my favorite moments in the franchise. Arguably Machinedramon is the part where they fucked up. That guy deserved to more than that. I mean not only was Hououmon completely beating his shit in with no problem, but Seraphimon AND HeraclesKabuterimon went into pure overkill territory. He kinda just fucked around for 50% of the movie consistently failing to kill anyone (Soras adamantium spine, anyone?) then gets killed of with no fanfare. I guess the main issue was that he was just a braindead beast instead of a calculating warlord like in adventure. MetalSeadramon at least came close to killing Taichi and Yamato, Mugendramon failed at everything at once.
