Don't use either, especially candy. They're near worthless for this event.
The only thing that's important is ingredients. EDs will help with that but if you wait too long you won't get enough time to sell things you make with your new ingredients. If you're not already at a place in ranking where you want, they won't help.
However if you're looking for the achievements then yes, save them for a potential ingredient boost. Convert everything to wheat flour for scones after that.

Every DB event releases 2 different hairstyles (midway and final prizes) in 2 color variants each. The gachas also have hairstyles with every series. People generally use those unless the shop just so happens to have something perfect you had in mind. Same with DG.

Read the prize brackets and try playing seriously before making judgements. We get both hairstyle variants for top 1000 which is always possible without tie ups so long as you don't waste more than a dozen hours of stamina per prize period. Sometimes even top 500 is possible for the shitty chat stamina events. You still get one hair variant in top 2000, ranking lower than that only happens if you're a casual that doesn't progress in the event more than once a day, if even that.

MCC is simple, but at first glance a little more hands-on compared to DG; you need to pay somewhat more attention to it to do well, where checking on it basically every ten minutes for a few hours at a time is optimal but not necessarily required for growing your Myroid or getting the in-game currency. DG has a slight hurdle in the beginning where some conveniences are level locked, but these level locks are very low; early on, checking it at most ten times in 4 hours or sometimes 8 hours is optimal for growing your DG or getting the in-game free currency.

DG is quite generous with rewards compared to MCC. Both games use gachas, basically a pool of items that you spend either currency or free tickets to receive items from at random. You get lots of free rolls in the main gacha in DG, though some people prefer the MCC gachas for having multiple gachas with smaller item pools; the rates of getting any particular item in either game are mostly similar when you do the math.

Regarding Events, the other important feature of these games and how you get some of the most exclusive outfits, MCC has much more variety compared to DG. This variety means that sometimes there will be MCC events where you can get very good prizes without spending anything at all if you play it right and have time on your hands, but these are fairly rare. It's essentially impossible to get the top prizes in DG without getting a certain item from a gacha, but you might be able to get it with your free rolls.

I can only really speak about DG and MCC.
DG is easy modo, once you get past the first bit which is basically a tutorial mode to ease you into the features. There's basically no punishments for anything so you can basically check in one or two times a day and do fine. The events are also extremely simple, just a single button to click and no variation, which also means it's really easy to play them. They rain gacha tickets on you to offset the combined gacha making it hard to get any specific item you might want (for instance, the current gacha has a 0.61% chance to get any specific MR, a 0.877% chance for any specific SR, 0.96% for RR, and 0.93% for R). Tie ups are boosted, but still hard to get.

MCC's got some punishments for failing to check in periodically, such as failing to put your girls to sleep on time or failing to check in on them while they're working and clearing any bothers. The events are also more complex and may involve mechanics that have short recharge times, but they're somewhat rare lately.
The gachas here are divided so it's easier to get a specific item, and there's a slightly more expensive roll for a much higher chance of rare items (3.8% vs 0.78% for any specific item). Tie ups for events are put behind a second tier gacha which relies on points from the first tier though, and I think that makes them overall much harder to get than in DG, cost-wise. Rate, I believe it's overall easier, but just more costly.

Update part 4 has two parts, batch actions for putting to sleep and waking up, and streamlining of MI's knitting challenge and the mixer. The second part isn't much, you get the ability to exchange everything in the quantities indicated on the current page at once, and also a box at the top where you can input a number to save of everything on the current page and it'll calculate the amount of each item to sell based on that and put them in for you (it doesn't automatically submit, so if you want to make changes you can).

Event's up, but I'm not, so I'll put together info on it sometime tomorrow or so.

It's called (Rainy Streets and) The Place Rainbows are Born. Didn't check the story, but I think you're looking for the ends of a rainbow with Sarali.
Event's got a focus on taking pictures, except this time you can only do so after an in-stage choice. Doesn't matter if you win or lose, you still get to take one. Not sure if it changes anything, I've only lost so far.
To help with this, they introduced an event outfit system, where you can load any saved outfit onto the myroid it's saved on, and she'll appear like that in the event while not affecting her looks elsewhere.
Like previous picture-centric events, there's a daily mission set where you give a certain amount of likes to other players' pictures a day to get rewards. There're 9 in total. All except the last one are just event tickets, but the 9th day gives an accessory gacha ticket.

Aside from that, there's also a fever mechanic. There's no buildup so you can't save it for when you need it. The help says it lasts for 5 minutes or a fixed number of steps, and doubles %, points, and tickets per step.

Finally, skip is unlocked by default, it's 100 stamina base, 3 minutes/stamina. No gacha, only exchange. It seems to have last year's rainy season event's background in case you missed it.

As an aside, I'm not sure, but I think you can save wigs with outfits now, since they have their own spot in the closet. Also, loading an outfit with an empty slot still keeps what was in the slot before.

That reminds me, I forgot to mention, there're two achievement sets, one for completing stages and one for points. For whatever reason they made the points achievement overview have the same format as the stages so it's huge.

Always be planting. Later on there'll be a bulk harvest/plant feature. You'll also get more plots every 10 stages, which'll correspond to a story event. There are story events every 5 stages though, so it's every 2 story events.
Don't exchange for watering cans until you have a significant amount of seeds stockpiled and all plots unlocked. Then just use them all at once by exchanging for the last two cans where appropriate (though really the second to last is not as good a deal as the last, it just feels better to complete things exactly rather than have wasted reduction, but even then it's less efficient). You should run through seeds really fast at that stage, so even waiting until the last day should be fine. Best to start two or so days before though, just to be safe.

I previously used that face on my yandere and I think it's very pretty. I agree it's one of the samefaggy faces DG has, but that doesn't necessarily make it look lame or unusable. If it was drawn with a little more flair it would be basically these eyes in the image.
