No matter what weapon I use, I always seem to run into the same time wall with most monsters. Which is often 2x slower than the slowest speedruns... I stick close and focus on weak spots, but it just keeps happening. For instance in gen, I can rarely break 7 minutes on 6* hub zinogre, except for the one time I managed to do it in 5. What's my problem?

this is the essence of speedruns. stars have to align, you can't expect to have speedrun tier times every hunt. watch a cuntaperme stream to see how a speedrunner hunts on regular quests

that said, your starting position and whether or not the monster changes area has a big impact on your final time, so it might be that. the rest comes down to skill(and risk taking), how compliant the monster is, and your hacked talisman.

Raw for most weapons is generally better, especially slower-swinging ones like GS/Hammer, HBG in general, and if you're using Power/Impact Phials for SA/CB respectively. During multi-monster quests it's a lot less fuss if every monster happens to have different weaknesses.

Element-heavy builds depend on the monster, sometimes they're shit, other times they're devastating. Generally, weapons with faster but weaker attacks can make better use of it.

Status is largely situational.

Since WE is a huge damage boost I'd like to get as many arrows as possible to hit the weak spot even if I have to take .2s to aim. I would argue that getting your aim down first is important, speed and fluidly switching between aiming modes will come with practice.
