Those maps look huge and rightfully so (mount masteries) and Vabbi is next to the Desolation. Doesn't look like we'll be interacting with the portal to the Realm of Torment unfortunately. But living world season 4 can totally deliver on Kourna and Istan.

Just wished we had more of the Deldrimor Front and entire desert maps to represent the Crystal Desert. The map with the snow region on it looks so out of place, maybe it's at the very corner of the Deldrimor Front. It all looks too spaced out, so another map or two might link it all nicely.

I was honestly a little disappointed with the ending there, I hate that we in one shot put two dragons to sleep rather than the expansion leading to a fight with them I hope that the last episode will either prove me wrong or undo a bit of what just happened. Or even bring the gods back into the fold since what the episode revealed.

Mordremoth was right. To oppose an elder dragon is to abandon the balance that keeps Tyria together, they're described as natural forces so it's fitting for them to have such a large impact on the world. They wake up to siphon the excess magical energy from Tyria and then return to their dormant states and continue the cycle to preserve Tyria. A cycle of life and death, opportunity and destruction, balance and imbalance. By killing these siphons of magic we're taking on the responsibility of doing their job and they hold enough energy to resist the human gods themselves. Turbulence happened before Jormag and Primordus met their demise, imagine how chaotic the world would've been with just one elder dragon roaming about.

The three orders of Tyria are more than just spies, soldiers, and scholars. The Vigil believes that direct war and battle is the solution to end the elder dragon menace but that will only work on their minions, elder dragons cannot be killed-- not without a powerful vessel to contain all of the magic released when they die. The Order of Whispers believe that putting them back to sleep is the only way to deal with them. The Durmand Priory believe in ancient magic and rituals that must be performed in order to rid Tyria of their existence.

Aurene absorbed a blast after Mordremoth was killed, but she's too young, Jormag and Primordus still absorbed enough of Mordremoth's magic to augment their own minions. Kralkatorrik is known as the largest elder dragon, I doubt little Aurene will absorb much once Kralkatorrik has been slain if slain at all.

Putting them to sleep doesn't sound so bad.
Maybe the human gods themselves will intervene and contain the magic. Grenth and Balthazar might need it for their respective dilemmas.
Balthazar sucked Primordus and Jormag dry and rendered them inactive, Mordremoth's energy was what made them active in the first place.

I really loved all the different desert types that GW1 had, there were so many zones yet each one felt like a unique variety of desert and the whole world of Elona felt extremely vast.

Jackie Treehorn was guilty of the exact same thing that Broham was going for: rushing in without knowing what he was dealing with, and risking the lives of a shitload of people. He didn't do anything MORALLY wrong, but he DID fuck up severely.

That said, having him survive but mentally broken at having everything go so wrong so quickly, and the themes you could explore therein would have been interesting.

So I've been playing Revenant/Herald for a few weeks now, my first character to 80.

I only now found out about the DPS meter and the dummies in the PvP area, so I set out to see what kind of numbers I could push with my sword/axe Glint/Shiro setup. It felt like I was doing respectable numbers, and it ended up being around 4.8k DPS.

Not knowing how much that actually is, I brought out my fresh Mesmer that I used my lvl80 scroll on, to get some perspective. I figured the numbers I could get had to be less than the Revenant's, if nothing else then because I barely knew how to play. And yet I net an easy 5k+.

Are Revenants just not very strong? Surely Mesmer is one of the classes with the least dps.

I bought a set of exotic gear with berserker stats for each, and accessories with soldier stats for *some* survivability.

10k damage per second? I have no idea where to even start pushing those numbers. Autoattack in the Shiro stance with the insanity skill triggered does a truckload of damage, but we're still in the ballpark of 5k and it only lasts for some 10ish seconds, then I'm back to the aura-y Glint stance and using skills.

I could probably increase my Mesmer output loads by reading up on rotations, but I don't know how I can do more than I'm doing on Revenant (aggressively keeping all relevant damage skills on CD). Mesmer has so many toys and ways of dealing damage, whereas (power) Revenant seems fairly dumb.

There's not really anything wrong with Trehearne as a character himself (Orr nerd reluctant to face his destiny as a leader), its how he was handled that was shit.

We could have had like, a single line from our mentor about calling in an old friend that's a specialist on Orr before Claw Island and, have Trehearne really step up and lead the retreat instead of getting his underpowered NPC ass handed to him everywhere (showing he had leadership ability under the surface) and it would have been simultaneously been a better introduction AND a clearer indication of/example why the orders admired him.

I always thought the Pale Tree would become some sort of ED replacement at least for Mordremoth, for it chanels magic and then gives it back slowly but without the whole genocite thing.

Yeah, the problem with revenant is that they kinda designed it around e-specs because it released with them, so unlike other professions that somewhat stand on their own with base specializations, revenant kinda feels like it needs its e-spec to function as intended.
Not that it matters, the only time you won't have the e-spec unlocked is if you are a totally fresh player and you blew your level 80 boost on something else. And even still, tomes of knowledge are so ridiculously easy to come by unless you just don't play the game.

I don't mind the sylvari at all, I just wish the charr were never made playable, just like the norn. They just don't fit as playable characters. The charr are a bit worse than norn, because at least the norn ar humanoid enough to pass with human clothes despite some deformation of their bodies. Charr are unsalvagable though, one of the biggest mistakes in modern games.

I always thought that certain races should be balanced more based on innate ability, an asuran warrior SHOULD be less powerful than a human or charr, but norn would fuck with that so much.

charr are at the other end of the spectrum, they're not unrealistically detached from other races in terms of individual strength, but charr being in the game has more likely than not been the reason we never get any new armor from ANet. Charr are the reason we didnt get capes, too.
It's way too ambitious for ANet, who are obviously too small and inexperienced to handle a race in their game that isn't humanoid.
