I remember once hearing about a composer that didn't speak a word of English but was working on early movies with sound and he worked his heart out to create great soundtracks. Oh, and it's also good if you need to stop a gourd auto-breaking. A good example of this comes up in 5SNB runs. If your fight with Ashikaga isn't going to end before turn 30 you're often better off just vassaling them before turn 30 than you are letting Takeda's gourd auto-break and then letting Ashikaga's gourd break when you conquer them.

There's also a glitch related to this that lets you avoid breaking up to 3 gourds despite having vassaled some gourd holding houses. Look at the wiki if you're interested, it's near the top of the walkthrough page.

Rance 01 was great, thanks anons recommending it as the easiest one to read in the series. There were tons of words I had to look up at the dictionary like every 2-3 strings of text and when I first encountered sex scene I was like "well, I don't know japanese at all". I was writing down any words I don't understand and studying them thereafter. The grammar, however, was relatively easy for most of the parts so I could comprehend properly pretty much everything. So fucking want to play quest or IX but at the same time I wish to fully grasp and enjoy them.

I don't think Evenicle is as easy. There's a fair bit of politics discussion and the worldbuilding stuff also tends to include weird words. Basically when plot kicks in the difficulty goes up.

I've only played 01, 02 and evenicle and I feel that the presence of Rance tends to limit discussions to the simpler things. Evenicle has a lot of easy parts but I think it's a good level harder than 01 overall.

I don't think it's as easy, but I do believe it's still very easy and serves as an excellent tool for learning due to its length. It was the first game I ever read in JP, and had a decently easy time getting through the Rance series as a result. The most of the kanji I've encountered are either not Jōyō or pretty rare (outside of 2500 list I found on the internet). So I would say it's pretty good. I have had more problems with words written with hiragana, for some reason those are really hard to memorize. However, with the time I feel I need to know a lot more than I expected, It's certainly more than 2.2k kanji that are classified as "must learn" considering the words I've seen in Rance 01 (that's thought to be quite simple).

The people significantly differ, there are no fundamental rules on how you should study he language. I always found myself self-motivated and self-tutoring kind of person so I just stick with it and try to do what is more appropriate.
