There isn't enough deadpan male protagonist comedy
Which isn't to say that grisaia has to have comedy but the material so far is pretty mediocre, made even less relatable by haruto rarely if ever being there (haruto being a literal "psshhhh...nothing personnel kid" doesn't help either)
As it is it feels more like a slice of life than actual comedy. This is probably because the original grisaia had such a unique approach to humour, and it's hard to replicate when everyone is now on the same page.
It's not actually painful to read phantom trigger (even if the setting is sliding towards the worse end of things), but goddamn if it isn't middling so far. As it is the pricepoint feels just about right, and they're obviously approaching the length issue since vol. 2 is clearly longer than vol. 1.
There's some fundamental issues too - who's the lead character in this entire series? If it's haruto/arisaka they're not really making it clear in the first 2 volumes, and if it's the entire class then they're really not taking enough advantage of potential perspective change shenanigans to justify it. Some of these issues might naturally correct themselves as the series goes on, but with only the first 2 volume it's almost impossible to give a positive opinion.
