He has always targeted me. Every time. I think it may be a range issue. Lapp is always further away after he flies away to charge up laser and I just angle it away from lapp and roll through it and whack him or gnaw on him.

Most people agree that laser is easier. I cant dodge random meteores consistently. The laser is extremely easy to dodge and i don't have to fight my camera to see where the laser is coming from. Also I don't have to constantly avoid the laser. Once I'm in melee range it's already missing me and I'm free to go full dps without dodging further.

You can't win poise trades with greatswords with basic 2HR1s without 60 poise so you have to outspace and punish them with your longer range. But most halberd WAs have enough poise to tank a greatsword hit and punish with decent poise.

It's one of the worse Greataxes in 3 in my opinion. It has Yhorm's tier stamina consumption, requires Quality build stats for optimal damage which leaves less room for VIT and poise armor, and it lacks the best aspects of the Greataxe moveset which is the shockwaves on R1s. It still does good damage if it hits and has an 1HR1>Warcry R2 true combo but has more notable problems than the standard ultra weapon issues.

Still better than 2s BKGA.

Hey guise, I'm having trouble mantaining 1080p 60fps in DaS1.

I'm using DSFix and even playing with everything maxed out with 4K internal rendering no cores go above 40% usage and my GPU keeps at 70% rarely spiking to 85%.

It doesn't matter how much I tweak it dips to the low 40s around 70% of the time, and with the Hellkite fire breathing it drops even to 27.

Any tips? I'm going nuts, some other guy here said he could do it np with lower specs, what am I doing wrong?

that probably means that whatever is causing the frame drops has more to do with post-processing than GPU performance. Texture filtering, AA, SSAO,

go into DSfix, try these if you haven't already:

AA Type: FXAA
SSAO: Off
Texture Filtering Override: (try different options, this is the most likely culprit)

Also, try disabling Vsync. You might get screen tearing but your FPS might improve, hellkite causes a lot of screen tearing so vsync might be causing latency after your frames are rendered, dropping your framerate but not affecting GPU usage.

Make sure in your graphics card settings you're not doing native texture filtering on top of the game's built-in texture filtering.

Oh no, I agree with you. The game was obviously built for 30 fps. But don't pretend that you will crash and ruin the game if you unlock the frame limit. If you play it at 1080p 60fps, it won't break the game, but you should decide for yourself if the higher framerate is worth the minor inconvenience. Don't care about framerate? Play at 30fps. Nothing wrong with that. Most LPs stick to 30fps because the inconvenience just isn't worth it, especially when your video isn't going to be played back at 60fps anyway.

A little secret about From Soft, most of their PS1 games (and some PS2 games) never get over 25fps, most run at 15-20 fps. Even when emulated on good hardware, poorly written code and delays cause King's Field, AC1, AC:PP, ACMOA, AC2, and even Echo Night to never hit 30fps.

I think the first game they released that felt optimized and finished / polished was Armored Core 3.

You're going to have to be more specific, but if you're talking about mechanics and combat, DS2 is definitely what you want to play next.

DS1 is a lot worse mechancially than DS2 or DS3, but it's more similar thematically and stylistically, DS2 feels like it was (and it was) developed by a different group, with more of a game mechanics focus than a story or stylistic focus.

If there's a line you don't see (like Vsync) just copy/paste it and add it.

Definitely do texture filtering override, that's the most likely cause of something like the fire (or the running water by the bridge below sif's door).

I have an AMD card, so this is what I do: I change texture filtering override to 2 and then turn texture filtering on my GPU settings (radeon catalyst, Nvidia has their own version but I don't know what it's called) on. If that is worse for you, do the opposite, turn filtering override to 0 and make sure that filtering is disabled on your GPU settings. Having both on at once means you filter the textures twice, which just causes unnecessary delays.
