Shadowstep has only recently become an auto-include in a Rogue deck, the quest one, and that decks is at best low tier 1. Miracle lists didn't always run it before, except when Leeroy was 4 mana, which was more a reflection on a 6/2 charge for 4 was OP.

Alright so I've gotten loads of complaints towards me concerning Hunter and Druid in the /hsg/ tournament with a potential solution. Would it be alright if we also declared Crackling Razormaw and Mark of the Lotus banned for both regions?

Depends on how you define "difficult". I would say there are a lot more viable decks in Wild, like take every tier you have in standard and double or more the number of decks on every tier. A lot more room to be creative. You can actually reasonably make a divine shield rallying blade centric pally in wild, as well as a lightfused stegadon "unleash the dudes" deck, you can do a lot more with murlocs because you have more of them and better ones (you even get a 3/2 for 2 murloc in Wild) and Anyfin, you can do hobgoblin shenanigans. This alongside your usual secret or midrange value pally shit.

And that's just paladin. It's less about difficulty and more about just having a much wider selection of viable decks and a lot more room to be creative. Many cards you wish you could play in Standard can actually be made to work well in Wild because you have the cards to support them there.

The problem is it's more expensive if you haven't been playing since Naxx or earlier. It certainly helps make it easier if you have all of the power legos like Dr. Boom, for example.

What is the best super fast aggro deck in Wild? Like if I just wanted to get to rank 5 (currently rank 11) ASAP in Wild, what should I play? Not pirates btw as I don't have patches, not even sure if wild pirate warrior is really the best anyways.

you might wanna go Midrange Hunter or Midrange Pally instead, although they're not full blown aggro decks, they're pretty agressive

if you REALLY want to play aggro then play Aggro Shaman, it's still good without patches

I see what you're going for, but I don't think councilman is your problem.

Corrupting mist is cheeky, and it definitely has synergy. However, it's way too slow and will in many cases be a dead draw. Same thing goes for doomsayer.

Take the deck in a more zooish direction, with abusive sergeants and defender of argus etc.

So my suggestions are:
- 2x corrupting mist
- 2x doomsayer
- 2x dirty rat
- 2x hellfire
- 2 x abyssal enforcer (cost too high)
- spiritsinger Umbra, as she requires specific cards to give tempo, for a significant mana cost - too slow

and:
+ 2x defender of argus
+ 2x flame imp
+ 2x abusive sergeant
+ 2x doomguard
+ Councilman
+ other buff cards, like sunfury protector or dark iron dwarf even

Alternatively, drop the runic eggs and add the discard engine. You should also conside the 2 mana spider thing from naxx.

If you're a newbie you should be re-rolling into the non-win-dependent quests (like play 10 divine shield minions or some shit), and then spending all of your gold on arena and gitting gud there.

If not then midrange hunter should farm quest rogues, it's just about killing them ASAP. Maybe lower your curve and make it more aggressive, and run golakka crawlers.

Use hearth arena to literally pick all of your cards every time. I forget whether there is a known tier list for which classes are best but generally rogue and mage are the best, maybe paladin.

After that it's just about curving out relatively well and being somewhat decent at the game. The hardest part is the card choice though, I just always pick the best class I can and use hearth arena to pick every card, once I have that I can pilot whatever deck I wind up with pretty well. Once you remove card selection from the process it's just about being able to pilot whatever you wind up with and understanding arena is mostly about curving and value.

Win or lose I always rope pirate warriors every turn on principle, because I know they're just trying to rank up as fast as humanly possible, as easily as possible. Just holding them back for multiple times their normal match length is enough of a victory for me, even better if I win on top of all that. If you want hatemail that is a great way to do it, people tell you to get cancer and shit.

It's literally the same situation as mysterious challenger.

Mysterious challenger is fucking strong. But when Paladin loses all of its early game + avenge, it becomes a shit card that never sees play.

Same with beast druid, there's not enough good beasts or real incentive to play a deck that runs a 6 cost minion when you can just shit out your hand with mark of the lotuses and power of the wild

It's supposed to be along the lines of shit like zombie chow and mistress of mixtures where it's stated super high for a negative drawback (and mistress isn't even really).

Issue with it is that zombie chow and mistress work on the idea that you play them on turn 1 to trade into shit and the "negative" side effect isn't really important at all since you're not trying to do 5 face damage with the chow.

This is shit because it ruins your curve and if you're aggro you want a better curve and a deck with less minions wouldn't be running that for stats.

Either the freeze mage has all the pieces to stall you and all the damage you could possible push means nothing or they don't and you win. There's no value trading and any sort of thinking to be done is on their part outside of maybe you have kalimos or something and you have to sit there and go "HMMMMM MAYBE I PICK TO HEAL FOR A FUCK TON OR NOT". I agree that freeze mage and pirate warrior are uninteractive as hell but I don't agree completely with quest rogue.

Playing against freeze mage is 100% uninteractive and the most boring shit you can do besides watching paint dry. Unless you are a class that can heal immensly, you just sit there and pray the random spell effects don't give the mage 4th ice block or 8th freeze effect. If not you win, if so you lose.

Pirate warrior is entirely depends on card draw. Both pirate warrior and you are playing on autopilot and praying for good draws.

Quest rogue also depends largely on draws. But unless Rogue gets God draw, it's not an autopilot match. I like the fact that you have to adapt your whole strategy when you encounter a quest rogue. Both you and quest rogue has choices to make during the game. Since I packed the quest I have been playing a lot of quest rogue and I can easily distinguish a good player and a bad one during a match. A bad player has no chance but a good player who knows how to abandon his usual deck strategy and adapt to situation has considerable chance against quest rogue.

That being said I agree that god draw is a sure win in quest rogue which is a problem. But playing against quest rogue is not nearly as boring as playing against freeze mage or pirate warrior.

I feel like this is the reason that despite how good freeze mage is, I almost never run into it on ladder. In fact instead of preparing for them at all I just focus on beating other decks and will outright concede to them once I realize what's going on to save time.

All those things are true though. Pirates/priest/quest rogue are all very good, paladin is tier 1, etc. It's a very good meta if you like a lot of variety and rock/paper/scissors style shenanigans. It's less about their being a better deck and more about every deck countering something and having a counter, and the meta shifting depending on what is being played the most. Like when quest rogue was huge everyone started playing hunter all the time to farm them, then people switched decks to farm the hunters, then paladin farms the hunters, and so on and so forth. Now you've got people teching in hungry crabs because of murlocadins becoming so prevalent.

It's actually pretty interesting to consider the flucutations of the meta. If you could really nail down what is being played the most in a given period of time you could easily farm ranks I think by playing what counters it.

I'm rank 3-3stars playing mage exclusively from 5. How detrimental would it be to swap decks now? Is it better to just stick with the same deck?

If the rogue has the perfect hand then you lose.

But if they have just an average hand then your plays determine the outcome of the game. Also rogue's skill is important too. Under early game pressure quest rogue is not autopilot since you have to predict what can be thrown at you. Should you focus on completing the quest or cleaning some of the board without it gets out of hand etc.

I'm not saying playing or playing against quest rogue very skill intensive. It's still draw based. My point is it is not as bad as freeze mage or pirate warrior.

You can play badly against a quest rogue and lose a game you could have won. This is not the case if you are playing against freeze mage or pirate warrior since against freeze mage you are just summoning minions and praying they don't get frozen 5 turns in a row or agains pirate warrior you are trying to get to your heals/taunt, if none exists in your deck you just concede.

TLDR: Quest rogue is bad but not as bad as Pirate warrior or freeze mage.

If you have an Imp and Silverware Golem, you get a 3/3 and draw a card.

If you don't have the Imp and discard the wrong card, you've got a shitty 3 drop that you have to pay for and you may have lost a key card.

How did they possibly think it was OK? It feels shit for their Doomguard to discard Zavas and Silverware Golem but trying to play that quest, discarding half your deck for some shitty Imps is just terrible.

they are the archetype "build around me" cards that allow players who really like themed decks to build them without Blizzard building it for them. Quest Rogue still sees optimization today. Compare that to MSoG where Jade Druid basically built itself in the first two to three days.

Not only that but it's a very easy way to make a class have a tier 2 deck. Instead of having to design a bunch of cards that are mediocre but maybe slightly good together, all Blizzard has to do is design one card that gives you a reward for playing mediocre cards that you can always cash in on

It's why JtU is probably the most diverse meta in terms of viable classes for ladder; the only class you can't comfortably climb with is probably like Warlock (and I hit legend with Zoo last week anyways)

What changes would you make?

I was thinking Questing Adventurer (better than Biteweed) instead of a SI:7 Agent which has better synergy with Barnes.

I don't have Xaril, but I have dust to craft Vilepine Slayers.

I made the mistake of crafting Lakkari Sacrifice and Clutchmother Zavas on day 1 because I love warlock and there's very little ways to make them work.
I've played a shit ton of variations including deathwing control and a ton of different zoo, all in wild so I have access to all the discard cards and it's just bad overall.
If you don't draw malchezarr's imp or librarian in the zoo/midrange decks, you just slowly lose the game because you can't draw faster than you discard, even if you're tapping every turn.
I even tried putting justicar in to negate that, it's too slow. Farseer would help but he takes up a slot in what's already a really stretched deck.
It's just really shitty overall, it doesn't help that you can't play cruel dinomancer and clutchmother zavas in the same deck, because he summons a 2/2 version of zavas and every time you discard her it gets added to their counter so it's almost gauranteed if you're building a big zavas
So much wasted fucking potential dude, I fucking love warlock and the only usable card they got was the pterrodax

The only way I feel like they can fix this if they add another draw source or some way to generate cards that you can discard.
