I mean, yes, it was. I don't think you understand what I'm proposing, though. I was thinking a more general use mod that you load up whenever you're playing a converted game (with any ending state for the HRE) or could be used to supplement alt-history mods. Essentially, it's not meant for any one specific circumstance, but as an aid to a more generalized problem. So, in some timelines, the HRE might've remained fine, and could either be dismantled or centralized. In some timelines, it wouldn't be able to be.

It's easy to learn to tell the difference: Japanese uses a lot of the same runes as Chinese, but they also use some other characters that look simpler and smoother. If you see stuff that looks like a U or a circle or a squiggly loop, it's Japanese. If you only see the dense, boxy characters with mostly straight lines, it's Chinese.

In that it would be an add-on for other mods to give them a skeleton framework to give their mod HRE mechanics that they could tailor to their specific alt-history. See what I'm saying a bit? So I'm kind of a scrub at Victoria 2, having only started playing a short while ago, but I've just had a stupid fun game. Played as Russia and successfully stopped communism across the world by getting everyone drunk. I knew liquor distilleries were really profitable for less developed countries so the moment I had craftsmen start to spawn I spammed them down like there was no tomorrow. As a result the price of alcohol across the world crashed to about 1$ a unit. Because of how retardedly low the price got pretty much every pop in the world was able to afford all of their everyday needs, effectively stopping socialism and communism across the world.

I have no idea what I'm doing but it's fucking fun.

Did battles really last a week or more? I try to think of famous battles like Hastings and those lasted less than a day. Battles seem to resolve unreasonably slow in paradox games. I guess this gives the player a better chance since they have time to reinforce

I think battles in CK2 and EU4 are meant to represent a small isolated campaign.

I understand what you're saying, but even as a converter module, it'd just be very difficult to implement, especially when you consider all the variables of alt-history. Also the problem is is that the codebase is very old, and Pdox hasn't really given a shit about patching the damn thing besides what's his name unofficial/turned official patch that he did in his spare time. We just can't implement systems wholesale, otherwise it'd be easy to simply set a converter flag to keep EUIV's HRE mechanics into the carryover mod file. I'm sorry but I just don't think it can be done in such a modular fashion like that. Too many things hardcoded. A sort of simple way I guess to do it possibly would be to make an HRE tag, and make a global flag or series of globals that whoever is in the HRE has it and can get the decision to unify if say, they have all countries with that flag sphered/puppeted, and if countries join or leave it, they get or lose the flag. Of course, that leaves out pretty much most or all mechanics involved unless you make other constant background events. I would be hesitant to do it because I just don't see much tradeoff, and it makes the game way too easy, and adding on more conditions and stuff to make it a fully fleshed out system would not only take a lot of work, but wouldn't thematically fit with any mods/carryovers unless said person added on more work for their particular world situation.

You're going to need a neutral country to handle more complex events, I'd recommend adding Rapa Nui and making it handle all that stuff, that's what Divergances does.

That said, if you want to make it more complex, you could add a flag for countries who choose to leave the Empire that gives the Emperor a temporary CB to force them back in the Empire. Maybe also make centralization of the Emperor tiered, so that it's not something that can be done in 10 years or something from game start.

How have you even played it for that long? Campaigns usually last 3-5 hours each since the war is usually over by 1940-41 so what do you do, just run it on observer mode for long periods or something? WC as minors?

I wish none of the trade nodes had directions associated with them and were just simply linked together with nearby ones, and if you were a strong regional power or a trade empire you could simply dominate the trade in an area and pull everything nearby to you.

didn't happen until the victoria 2 timeline, but I don't see why it shouldn't be able to happen.

I think there should be different effectiveness for resources in different provinces, and you should be able to control what you produce to some extent, but it would require the game to bring back supply/demand mechanics.

Colombia goes to Caribbean or Brazil, La Plata goes to Brazil.
With only two merchants you can collect in Lima/Panama and Brazil, only leaving the Colombian trade node weak where some may go to the caribbean rather than Brazil.
You'll get another merchant from global trade and then you can cover all of south america easily.

But would it be possible to mod in tech-group-unique cannons and naval units? So, say, the Chinese tech group have Junks and Chinese rocket artillery, while Europeans get Galleons and Pedreros?
