Tell me one of your favourite Persona and why you like it so much.

I'm fond of Trumpeter, it tends to be one of the earliest "end-game" tier Personas thats still comparatively easy to fuse without grinding or jumping through many hoops, and Debilitate is a hell of a thing. I also like having multiple resists/nulls on me for the final battles; I know fusing Yoshi and just blowing everything away a faster and simpler way of finishing the game, but it always makes the last bosses seem more underwhelming. I'd rather have a character that can tank their best hits all day and beat them down the old fashioned way.

Honourable mention to Daisoujou, if only it were easier to get Spell Master on him.

the worst the decisions are the ones where you get 3 choices, but only one of them actually does anything, or it just re asks you the question.

Small things like your class questioning if you're actually a delinquent or not, even though you have been #1 on exams the entire year would be nice to make minor changes with.

Id just like to see your decisions matter on a roleplaying level, but nothing significant.

So I was looking at what deadly sins the game's trophies implied by each Palace, and I couldn't help but think they got some of them either a little or very wrong. Here's my take on what each Palace ruler represents.

Kamoshida and Shido - Lust and Pride respectively, there's no arguing these because they're so obvious.

Madarame - Envy. While Vanity itself isn't a deadly sin, it leads to enviousness of those with real talents and accomplishments. Pretty much what Madarame was all about, and why he plagiarized and stole his students' work.
Kaneshiro and Okumura - I think both of these two exhibited BOTH Gluttony and Greed, but I'd agree that each showed one more than the other respectively. Kaneshiro, while obsessive about money, overindulged himself endlessly, showing more gluttony than greed. Okumura, who lived a lavish overindulgent life, used his employees for his own selfish gains and showed more greed than gluttony.

Futaba - Here's where I really started to question things. The game implies her Palace represents Wrath, but there is nothing wrathful about Futaba. If anything, she's Sloth which isn't even listed there, though I think she herself might have implied as much ingame. She locked herself away for years and just awaited death without trying to do anything for herself.

Sae - This is going to be the most controversial one, but I think Sae is the only one that can really represent Wrath despite the trophy implying jealousy/envy. At several points, she gets frustrated with the case and goes off, sometimes taking out her anger on Makoto. She clearly has a lot of pent up anger inside from her overall situation, with her career, her father's death, and even from having to support Makoto instead of just living her own life. Even in the last half of her boss fight, that demon looks and acts like a creature of pure unbridled rage.

If you pay attention she covers her lack of confidence with politeness. A lot of her arc is she's just allowing herself to be pushed around and hiding from her problems and allowing herself to be left behind.

Futaba being Wrath is pretty obvious though. You have to remember that everything inside her palace is part of herself, her personality, her cognition. She is so wrathful, so angry at herself for causing her mother's death that she wants herself dead. Her palace is a tomb full of death traps she tries to lure herself into, a pyramid. She isn't slothful at all to be honest, she is an incredibly hard worker that just doesn't leave her room, it's not at all like she is a vegetable in there, she is constantly working on shit and improving herself.

Its not necessarily good or bad, but has anyone noticed the increasingly straightforward and I guess cartoonish nature of the main cast personas?

The P3 Personas had odd, robotic and artificial qualities more often then not, things that looked like they might have come out of an odd dream as opposed to how people envisage their inner self. Even the more humanoid ones like Orpheus and Caesar had distinctly inhuman or unemotive features.

Moving to P4, the basic forms were a lot more humanoid, but often accentuated them with helmets or masks, as well as sometimes cartoonish proportions on the likes of Jiraya or Take-Mikazuchi. By and large they're closer to something a bit more idealised and I guess... friendly, alive for lack of a better term?

On to P5 where the main casts personas have a very distinct caricatured aesthetic. A lot of them would look perfectly at home in a Saturday morning cartoon, western or eastern. Again, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, just an observation. The P5 personas tend to look more "whole" and less like pieces of their design have been taken from somewhere or something else. Captain Kidd (Skeleton Pirate!) and Goemon (Exaggerated Japanese outfit!) are good examples; a distinct concept that is complete in of itself. They also don't bear much relation to each other, Carmen and Johanna for example share no traits, whereas P3 had reoccuring design cues spread throughout the cast.

Do you think future installments will continue with the cleaner, more unified individual designs they've been heading towards, or perhaps go back to P3 overarching vision? Or something else perhaps?
