Just got back to the game recently and I really do like the new pve mode.

Normal seems like you can do quite literally anything and still survive. Tried Hard 2 times, both failed at starting up the payload. Looking for tips, especially rein/tracer, because Im hoping to play those, I hate playing torb/mercy.

As rein, I only shield when there is a bastion, otherwise I try to beat up things getting too close, especially slicers. I charge detonators if they get too close. I hammer down if it seems we're getting overwhelmed or I miss a charge on det and its close to the payload.

As tracer, Im supposed to clean up nulltroopers I think? What about the shield guys?

I would really appreciate any and all tips you have to share so I don't shit up other peoples games.

if they cant deal with turrets, either plant them on spots out of reach enough but still in range of the targeting system. eventually it becomes second nature when you know which spots are tricky to attack against

just play torb a lot no matter the mode and youll eventually get a hang of it

As Rein, have Mercy damage boost you as much as possible so you can clear out the small frys quickly. Charge Detonators if they get close and shield Bastions and OR-14s.

As Tracer, your main job is removing the shield arms of the Eradicators by getting behind them and shooting the weak spot on their backs. Headshot as much as possible and don't bother with the Slicers because it takes her two clips to destroy a single one.

Would like to get good at Roadhog, where to start?

Pretty much. All the critical spawns happen at the same time.
Its just a matter of popping ults and abilities on key targets.
I'd recommend Rein. Since a lot of Reins have bouts of imahugefuckingretard randomly during the mission especially in the last phase.
Just charge eradicators, detonaters and earthshatter/charge bastions. Importantly make sure you are shielding your team at all times when not doing these things.

Quake Champions, in my own words it's a real arena FPS that stole the best of Overwatch and left behind all the rest. Speaking as someone who has over 75 hours on Roadhog in quickplay alone, he absolutely is not good for ranking up.

Hog heavily depends on at least two other people on your team being semi-competent. By that I mean, if it's just you and one other dude grouping up, you're irreversibly fucked. He relies on teammates creating a distraction so you can reliably get off hooks that your targets don't see coming. And in competitive ranks anywhere between 1900 and 3500, too often you get a team that's perfectly content to spread themselves thin as fuck and die alone for the entire length of the game.

I consider myself a pretty fuckin solid Hog, but I just don't pick him in comp anymore because by the time you figure out if your team is special needs or not, you've lost too much time. He's a gamble. You either roll them or get rolled, no matter how flawlessly you play.

I made the claim, so it's only proper if I put forth a defense of my claim.

I'm only an average Diamond player myself, and never played Quake or any aFPS in my life. Coming back from the recent closed beta (getting my ass stomped), I said to myself "time to get back to Overwatch" without complaint.

Then I found myself quickly disliking Overwatch. Stuck with a Hanzo main. Wrecked by a Roadhog hook. Shooting at a barrier all day. Hold RMB until we smash the all the ultimates down on the ground. I immediately became desperate to get back to QC. In that game, I can play a robot that also gets a Reinhardt Barrie0. But HE gets to shoot a Rocket Launcher, or a Lightning Gun, or whatever, and you can rocket jump and frag noobs with your skills, and this gets you ahead, or you can come back when you're behind. And when you lose, you feel amazed at how well that guy on the other team played, instead of being mad that that Hanzo main couldn't figure out which direction to toss logs at, or why you have to be so helpless when Zaryanova W+shift+M1s your face off. And no matter how much I would win, we would still often feel like losers, having to grind out that last 25m of Route 66 or capturing Point B on Hanamura, a significantly inferior team doesn't just get removed from your life, you have to suffer a slow, drawn out trade of ultimates and team wipes.

I realized how much Overwatch felt like a constant barrage of frustrations and moments of feeling cheated, and I said "I would take my 0.2 kdr quake over this"

So I went from "QC will take 10% of the GM population" to "QC will eat the WHOLE population." The skill demands aren't nearly as high as Quake players try to make it out to be, but it actually understands fun.

Quick idea for buffing McCree

If someone gets hit with the flashbang, the stun timer does not start unless the player is on the ground. (Grounds a jump-happy Genji who is otherwise able to dash out before McCree can land a killing blow if he is stunned in mid-air.) As well, the affected character(s) take 20 to 30% more damage while stunned.

This gives McCree's old e/rightclick combo viability, being able to reliably kill DPS with it and even shred tank health, but his burst is still on the Flashbang's cooldown and that leaves him vulnerable if he misses his flashbang or a DPS character baits it out.

Oh, and fix flashbang's wonky ass trajectory and reliability. And update Deadeye in some way.

Zen shits on Roadhog dude...just don't get caught alone and you can melt him with your discord. Especially when he tries to heal. Free headshots. Zen is one of the best characters against Hog actually. Always try to keep a teammate between you and him if you see him haha. A good Zen should always have a mic though. Calling out discords helps so much it's crazy. Can turn a team of shitty dps into killing machines. Pharas cry when Zen is on the enemy team.
