Well it was a teaser for SL, but it could have also been worked into FNAF World's lore as well.

And yes TSE and by extension TTO, aka the books, are their own separate story that is a reimagining of the games, only canon to the book's lore, not the games. The only similarities are the sharing off certain ideas, characters, and settings.

SL could still go either way for wither tying into the story of Fnaf 1-4 or being it's own separate thing like the books.

I've heard the argument that it makes sense since it's supposed to be the overreactive imagination/dream of a coma patient and the excessively spiky and toothy designs are the kind of thing that a young child would find scary, and I can understand why some anons found it spooky because of how the nightmare bot's cartoonishly menacing appearances contrasted with it's relatively mundane domestic setting, but I personally think that it would have been better if he went with creepy in an uncanny valley sense like the first game, but perhaps taken in a more bizarre and surreal extreme.

It's like he took the ruined aesthetic of Springtrap and tried to replicate it without any of the gore. Makes you wonder if they were originally intended as real world enemies, and the implication they might've been an experiment in SL is a walkback to that.

A more surreal, actually bizarre approach would've worked wonders for them. Scott should know how horrifying and strange nightmares can be. Making the Nightmares more strange, perhaps even eldritch in appearance would've helped considerably. If he wanted to go for the Freudian approach, Ghost's own designs would've been good. Or alternatively, look at the mask wearing in the mini games and translate that as Springtrapped-bullies. Would've been a great segue into the purple shit too

The tongue bit got dropped after the teaser, while the fredlings aren't actually inside Freddy ingame, just on the credits screen.

You do raise a point though, I liked the wires in the Mangle teaser. But those were dropped in the release.

I think a big causation of the design's flaws is that you aren't supposed to see them much, if at all. You only get a good look if you die for most of them. So Scott didn't think up how to make creepy camera shots or moments as much as he made the models detailed for the jump scares to compensate.

Maybe go for a more bestial aesthetic with actual fur and bone where costuming and endoskeleton should be. In the vein of Dog Soldiers, or a wendigo. Something that isn't like anything you've seen in the series beforehand. If it would make you feel better, I'm not calling for Scott to drop the aesthetic of animatronics. The image I have in mind would be referential to the first game, where the animatronics were mentioned to have blood and mucus in them, as well as Silver Eyes, which for all it's flaws really made me think, with how it personified the robots physically.

Will was always in employee in some way or another, in Fnaf 1 it was implied that the murderer was a former employee, a night guard to be more accurate. Fnaf 3 gives some implication that Afton was the guard before you. Fnaf 3 shows that Afton knew enough about the Springsuits to put one on and it not go off (although he got caught up in the moment and it still went off). And Fnaf 4 showed that he did work at Fredbear's as an employee that helped performers get into the Springsuits.
SL added that he make animatronics before.

How high up Afton was is uncertain, but I doubt that they would let an entry worker help put on the Springsuit due to how easy it was for them to go off. That and the rules for Fredbear/Fazbear's clean-up procedures sound perfect for killing kids and hiding/destroying the evidence.

Hey, since we have the time and fuck-all else to do, do the rest of you feel like making this one or the next our last thread? These days it now takes us 4+ days to hit the bump limit and out of the 80-something anons left, it feels like only 26 of them make up the majority of the posts. We've been scraping the bottom of the barrel for so long for things to talk about that we're hitting dirt, almost all the OCfags have either left or are inactive, and in general everyone as a whole gives me the impression that they're out of steam.
Becoming /scawg/ might revitalize things for a bit, but I think all that will amount to is just kicking the can further down the road until we inevitably discuss The Desolate Hope, Pilgrim's Progress and etc. to death like we did FNAF. While I don't mind furfags enough to make moving to /trash/ unappealing, I'm more concerned about the prospect of them rejecting us instead of the other way around.
Honestly, I think it's about time we passed away in our sleep instead of straining ourselves and guilting whoever's left to keep posting. We can always come back when a new game comes out, but I doubt many of our remaining OCfags will do so as well once they get off the ride and are free of this place. Then again, I enjoy posting here and I know that there are a few other anons and OCfags who share that sentiment and I'd feel bad knowing that we've taken this place away from them.

I'm saying that perhaps we should collectively agree to let it die, gracefully, after these three years. If not now, maybe we could wait until the upcoming third anniversary, and if things haven't turned around by then we can give it a proper goodbye. I'm not going to lie though, despite my own opinion it seems like there is no truly good option here moving forward.

What we need to do is find some new inspiration to breathe new life into here. Inspiration is everywhere and we still have the ability to do great things. This is getting absurdly stupid and it's a shame because the last two threads were fantastic till it got derailed over drama from four fucking months ago. Would there be any hope of success trying to appeal to a moderator to just make 'discord' a bannable word here? The thread wouldn't suffer, most Discord content creators that refuse to post their content here or to the booru out of spite aren't going to stop that, so nothing is lost for those that only stay here. Not that guy but the Custom Night cutscene introduces what's probably the worst retcon in the entire series, if it ends up that Michael is Springtrap.
It's like having a pretty nice meal, and someone takes a steaming dump next to your plate. Sure, you can enjoy the meal as it is but that shit will haunt you as you eat it.

You could also include small touches of the 2087 lore by having animatronics come from different combat zones and classes being propoganda/physical training for war. I mean imagine the gossip when a classmate's neighborhood gets firebombed or when the trip to the mall ends in getting caught in a sweep.

I've dumped enough story recommendations and conversation starters onto the thread to know that ninety-nine times out of a hundred, it's a fruitless effort.
I enjoy a lot of the written work here and have even dabbled in creating some myself once in a while, but I can tell you that pushing conversations like this onto the thread never result in anything worth while. At best you get a "these are the stories I like" dump with no real information pertaining as to why, and at worst people will just ignore you entirely.
If these things happen, they gotta happen naturally.
