I don't remember him saying something so, hum, erotic like in the manga, but some of his actions are the opposite of "I just want to see Kyo dead". For example, I still don't understand why he looked so sad at Kyo at the end of Orochi battle, did he want to look at him one last time since he thought he was about to die?

In NESTS Saga when Kyo was missing he could just let it go and live his life like it wasn't his problem, but he searched Kyo and was pissed with NESTS.

At the end of Ash Saga he had the chance of being a normal person and get rid of his curse, but he chose to keep his flames so he could fight Kyo on the same level...

And it's funny to see other characters calling him out about it, I mean, they realised that if after all these years he still haven't killed Kyo and instead helped him a bunch of times, maybe it's time to admit that he enjoys fighting him and don't want to kill him anymore. I also have a theory that Kyo was willing to use all his power to sacrifice himself and take Orochi down with him for good, as the hero he thought everyone wanted him to be, but ended holding back in the last minute because of Iori's look.

Iori always says that his "hate" for Kyo is personal and don't have anything to do with his clan, so maybe Kyo realised that Iori wasn't doing it just because it was his clan's duty, but because he wanted to, and so, Kyo choosed to spare both his lifes since he didn't need to die like a martir to fulfill his clan duty, he could also do what he wanted because Iori (and Chizuru) will be at his side and support him now.

I'm just making stuff up here, but maybe there was a woman Iori loved, who was the only person in the world to show him love and compassion, who is apart of the Kusanagi clan. So, her being killed in front of his eyes and the fact she was related to Kusanagi is why Iori hates himself, as if every time he recalls that tragic memory, he blames it on himself, and enters the blood riot mode. Iori being formerly close to someone from the Kusanagi clan would explain why he secretly holds Kyo dear, deciding not to kill him.

It may sound a little too sweet to be true, but Iori socially interacting with someone in a way that makes him happy, let alone someone from the Kusanagi clan may just be too extreme, as well as Iori actually finding a special love interest. Such is the fate of the lonely

Pretty sure Kyo is from a highly traditional and wealthy family so Saisyu making him wear something like that at one point or another isn't too outlandish. Yes he's a cocky/rebelious asshole, but you and I both know there's more to most SNK characters than their ingame appearances. In most cases rebellion cockyness is a result of strict upbringing and/or being very confident, so for Kyo that's not completely out of the question.

Your other point is pretty spot on about the gameplay, but it was announced to be something like that since the beginning. Not exactly looking forward to KoFW myself.

As for KoFD where do you think they were jacked from? There's something about the art that feel different, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Honestly it isn't something that bothers me too much. Chances are the west isn't even going to get these and going by how far the english speaking word has been with SNK I wouldn't blame them them focusing on the chinks and other asian regions. Those two mobile games aren't exactly my cup of tea either. I'm somewhat interested in KoFD, but playing something like that on a touch screen seems hellish to me.

So it seems that Kukri is the Iori to Shun'ei's Kyo. Though Kukri seems to actually lose his cool when facing him, as if Shun'ei somehow caused something bad to happen. Also it seems they have encountered each other before, since Shun'ei says in his win quote "man I hate this guy" or during their interaction he says "I don't get you." but it seems he's oblivious as to why Kukri hates him. Could it be something to do with Shin'ei's family or something? I'm eager to see how those two play out.

I've seen some people who aren't too familiar KoF say this, but it makes me wonder how many characters actually wear leather. There's K', Kula, Maxima(?), Iori(new jacket), Kyo (Ash saga onwards), Benimaru(new pants in XIV), Angel to a degree. There's Krizalid(straps), and both Zeros which are all bosses. So far that's a relatively small number when it comes to the characters that have been in the series. Who else am I missing? I guess a newer one could be Rock because of his Jacket.
