Camera doesn't really have anything to do with backstabs. If you want to prevent them keep throwing knives or bundles available, they turn your model around instantly and will usually make a backstab attempt whiff

That works for some sets like Vilhelm's, but you still get fucked proportions with the Firelink set. Instead of being a literal skeleton in armour, you become a THICC skeleton in armour. The skeletal features remain but become weirdly distorted.

I've had zero issues with all the flippy dippy WA faggot weapons like Gael's, Paired GS and Farrons. Great hammers trump all except maybe the annoying FTH pokey poke R1 setups.

200 hrs on my SL120 and using infinite respecs, I've finally settled on Vordt's and Ledo's as 10/10 fuckyou weapons. Vordts is obscene. It poises through everything and wins the exchange. It's early estoc/dark sword R1 braindead tier.

Community is too busy sperging out over FTH builds and Gael/Paired to even notice.

What makes Lightning Arrow decent is that the actual firing animation is really fast, the full animation isn't really anything special in terms of speed.
So you could easily make Soul Stream work similarly and be not overpowered as long as the firing animation is long enough to react to.
In fact, that would be a really good buff to a few of the more garbage spells like Boulder Heave or Farron Hail.

Also, mostly unrelated, but now that I think of it I'm really annoyed that Boulder Heave didn't get a smaller version that works like Projected Heal

Spells sort of worked this way in DeS. You could cast them quickly or slowly. Slow-casting them was about CSS speed, fast-casting them let you throw fireballs/soul rays at about the speed of casting a combustion. And you could control the speed, it wasn't just a binary thing. You find out that it doesn't work. You say "fuck it, I'll just transform into a whole bunch of shit". Maybe I've been out of it for too long now but the pvp seems even more monotone and simplified than before.
