20 endurance is still a bit much for a weapon like the pallash. that much stamina is what i would expect from a strength build using stamina hungry weapons

I would recommend taking some points out of blt/end and putting it into vit/skl unless you have a reason not to.

As for whether it's that bad or not, this is just my opinion but I think it's one of if not the best weapon in PvP. Its moveset is ridiculously good and it's one of the few weapons in the game that can effectively punish the unbeatable strategy of walk and roll backwards. It's quite fun though, so again, use it if you want. People are going to bitch no matter what weapon you use unless it's like the Tonitrus or some shit.

A lot of people find the Rakuyo annoying because of its easily spammable R1 combined with its comically high amount of phantom range. The way I like to describe it is like if you were swinging another Hunter by the ankles and he was the one holding the Rakuyo.

The saif lunging r1 is legitimately good, it's the best/second best depending on who you ask (with the folding lunge l1 as the alternate) in the moveset, but the following r1s are not auto confirms, and if you dodge the first r1 its not going to be able to catch you with more r1s unless you stand still after your dodge or you try to dodge back in
R1 spamming should always be punished with a bullet because it's an easy parry and it's dumb to do so I don't think I'd call it parry spamming if you shoot if they keep r1ing.
Avoiding the lunging r1 is really the key and the hitbox while a long straight line that can follow dashes to roll catch really well, is a straight line more or less so you can manuever around it and punish it if they whiff

If you want to start off easy (as in not a complete change of playstyle), a Str/Arc build is very fun. Satisfying heavy weapons and you can play as an Executioner.

You could also try going a Skl build to focus on the fast and agile weapons such as the Rakuyo, BoM, and Burial Blade.

You can go for a Bloodtinge build and focus on blood weapons and guns. Unfortunately the melee weapons are rather limited. You could be a Vileblood and use the Chikage and be a FUCKING HERETIC, or just rock out with the Bloodletter. Add in some strength and you can hit harder with the cannons.

Last major playstyle is to go all-out with Arcane and be a space wizard. You get to play with slugs and rocks. The Hunter Tools scale up past 50, so they hit like a truck at 70/99 Arcane. This is probably the most gem-dependent build in the game, as you want to convert your weapons to elemental. So if you don't have PS+ and can't farm chalices I don't recommend this build

Skl/Blt go hand in hand, as you get to use guns to parry and your viscerals do a fuck-load of damage with high skill. Also most of the bloodtinge weapons are Skl/Blt weapons.

Another note about the Bloodtinge weapons (Chikage, Bloodletter, and Bowblade). Their two modes are completely seperate, with their untricked forms doing completely physical damgae and scaling off of Str/Skl, and their tricked forms doing entirely blood damage and scaling only of Blt.

Strength/Sandwich is perfectly possible with weapons from the DLC. The Bloodletter is a mace that transforms into a giant tomato mace. It also adds the Church Cannon and the Gatling Gun, which require strength to use. If you have 15 points in Skill you can still use the Chikage and Bowblade, though they'll be rather subpar in their untricked modes. I personally run a 30/50 Str/Blt on one of my characters

Thanks. I found a damage calculator and I saw the difference in AR for the HMLS with full nourishings was 792 (ARC focus) vs 819 (STR focus), so I guess it's not *that* much worse, if you connect with the beam and the blade. This is with 12 SKL.

I know the boom hammer on an ARC build is useless without the L1 buff, but it has extremely strong R2's with the buff.

How much worse do you think the damage on the wheel would be with a STR focus? I imagine it would make the weapon much stronger to use untricked, which isn't that great on an ARC focus. It still does a ton of physical damage in tricked form too, and the 25 ARC isn't *bad*. You think it would be better if you don't tend to use the L2 health-drain ARC damage buff anyway?

All memes aside, the Chicago is pretty good. In its tricked form, it has this games version of bleed which pretty good for certain bosses and enemies.

The Bowblade is really good. The untricked form has a good moveset, and the is great, and you can snipe with it if you use the monocular.

Bloodletter has an amazing tricked dash R1, although the untricked versions range is pretty bad, the tricked version is overall great.
