I want Naegi to lock me in an airtight school and fix me with hope. He'd take care of me when I get sick, read all the books from the library and hold my hand so that I can fall asleep.He'd make shitty homemade pizza for me and stay up late with me watching dumb movies, and feel me cuddle up to him when I can't stay awake anymore.He'd teach me retarded drinking games and show me how to play pool in the rec room.

One night, I silently sneak over to the kitchen. A shining sliver of a blade extends from my clenched fist when I walk into his room. But my hand stops, centimeters away from his chest, and begins to shake violently. Something is wrong. One by one, my trembling fingers let go of the hilt, and with a soft thud, the knife falls onto the carpet. I throw myself on Naegi and buries my face right where the knife should have gone, Clutching at the fabric of his clothes. My whole body shakes feverishly and he scoops me body into his arms and tell me that everything will be okay, just like usual. My silent sobbing turns to wailing that echoes out into the dimly lit corridors beyond the door.

I would finally be cured of despair. Because the only thing I can't analyze is love.

In my opinion, it's not the killing game itself that's stale, it's just how formulaic Kodaka ends up making the killing game. At this point, you've caught on to the patterns Kodaka's using. Everybody has amnesia and the killings follow the same pattern. DRV3 was an opportunity for him to turn the concept on it's head and have some serious twists, but instead it's just the same shit. The game never goes out of it's comfort zone aside from the protagonist switch, and even that had been telegraphed before the game even released. There's no sense of progression to the mystery of their surroundings, it's all slumped in a giant infodump in the endgame. It's all so boring and the game just feels cookie-cutter. Honestly, what did you guys expect from one of the dullest franchises in the history of video games? Seriously each episode following the dimwitted protagonist and the easily predictable end cast as they fight the same villain has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the pop-up imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of emotional impact, all to "deconstruct" villains and itself, to insult the player.

Perhaps the die was cast when Kodaka chose to outsource Danganronpa 3 rather than direct it; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody. Just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his games. The Danganronpa series might be anti-/u/ (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Science Adventure series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. The writing is dreadful; the game was terrible. As I read, I noticed that the ideas of "hope" and "despair" were even more overtly obnoxious than it had ever been.

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time those words was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Kodaka's mind is so governed by cliches and dead references that he has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Danganronpa by the same Kotaro Uchikoshi. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Danganronpa at 13 or 14, then when they get older they will go on to play Zero Escape." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play Danganronpa you are, in fact, trained to play Uchikoshi games.

The fact that so many idiots still name Danganronpa as "the greatest or most significant or most influential murder mystery visual novel ever only tells you how far visual novels still are from becoming a serious art. Tsumugi is the only one out of the cast who has brainwashed-looking eyes, her identity is nearly as vague as Amami in spite of making it to the end and the whole point of Saihara being someone with the skills to make it as a true detective while only having to deal with mundane cases before is that you have to brush up on your own skills as a detective too.

Also, as I have said many times before: HICKSHON may not be what we think it means given it wasn't confirmed whether all the other seasons had real deaths or not.

But let's look at it another way. Sayaka and Teruteru are at least justified in the sense both would have gave their victims quick deaths, however in Kirumi's case she killed Hoshi in a cruel manner on top of how other evidence would suggest he didn't actually agree to be a sacrifice.

Also keep in mind that the country was never specified, but if we take Kirumi's country as being the same one the V3 cast are in she'd basically have been broadcast being willing to act absolutely undignified and killing off her own subjects for a chance to get outside. Aside from that, Monokuma vaguely alludes to something bad happening to said 'loved ones' but the one that comes closest to looking real is Ouma's own video yet he didn't act the way she did.

The question chapter 2 poses is two-fold: It's not simply a trolley situation but also how a leader should act, because by all accounts Kirumi did not help her case at all by killing a supposed sacrifice so brutally on top of how she was perfectly willing to use the people she allegedly cared for as meat shields. If this is how she responds to a vague threat, does Kirumi really have the cool head necessary as a country's shadow?
