After playing ds1 (spells doing pretty good damage without using buff rings which don't even exist), I played ds2 and all the spells are shit. Why do I have to grab 4 rings to enhance my magic? In ds1 all I needed was rings for attunement slots but now I need all kinds of shit to do as much damage as those melee guys.

Ring of Favor increases your health, stamina and equip load by a set percentage. Prisoner's Chain increases END, VIG and VIT by 5. The latter is affected by how those stats scale, the former isn't. The soft cap for VIG is at about 27 since that's when it starts dropping off considerably. 1 level into VIG at 25 - 26 gives +30 health. 1 level into VIG at 35 - 36 gives +16 health.
