whats wrong with the starter edition?

I used to play on consoles all the time but when I got a PC I picked it up. I already played the shit out of the base operators so I just paid like 20 bucks and got the DLC operators. over 200 hours on console, hardly place the PC version ATM. I like playing dota too much

Are thermite charges jammable after they have been triggered?
Because I just had a strange thing happening to me.
Basically I was defending garage in chalet, the garage door was jammed, I was expecting a Thatcher so I was ready with a jammer in my hand for when the EMP hit.
Thatcher throws his bomb, but thermite immediately set off his charge before I could deploy the jammer again.
What happened was that I managed to deploy the jammer at the last second before the explosion, the charge exploded anyway, the reinforcement was blown off, but the garage door itself remained intact and I didn't get any disruptor bonus.
Is this what was supposed to happen or was this just a case of the game shitting itself because it doesn't expect people to jam thermite charges after they are triggered?

Bear in mind, this isn't referring to peeking windows, it's referring to people who will run outside at the beginning of the round and chuck a C4 before they get spotted to hopefully get an easy kill.

Yeah I'm aware of the hibana bug, but I've never came up to this thermite bug in my ~100h of game time so I was wondering if it could have been related to the jammer, since it was my first time jamming a thermite in-progress.

Also about the chemical reaction argument, it makes sense, but you can use a jammer to stop hibana charges after they have started burning (and it's not a bug, because you get a disruptor bonus when you do so) so I don't think this logic could apply to the thermite "bug".

20 is too damn easy to achieve, I waited to level 40-something to try ranked because I still had no idea of the map layout and my aim was shit for the most part.

When I'm in ranked and I see more than one player under 40 I simply leave the lobby and look for an other one.

Granted, clearance level is a shit way to estimate someone's skill, but it's the only thing I have so I'm using it. I can assume that with experience comes, at the very least, map knowledge, which is already an invaluable skill to have in this game

I just use myself as a comparison, I barely knew 3 or 4 maps comfortably before level 40 and I still had troubles with the rest sometimes.
I may be a shitter, I suppose there are other people around that can be diamonds by level 25, but of all the times I've played with level <40 there have been many that were complete retards and just a few that were somewhat good, so my own "rule" works most of the time and I'm happy with it.

Your setup is PC/Console - Router - Modem, correct? Ignore ISP addresses or whatever. On your PC/Console, give your devices a static address (for example, 192.168.1.10, just make sure the first 3 numbers are the same as your router), then log into your router's config page and make sure the DHCP range doesn't overlap with that IP.

I'm developing a love hate relationship with this game.

I just had a run where I was pretty much dead last for 3 games in a row. Everything seemed to be going wrong. I got fuzed twice in one game and essentially got no kills other than complete flukes.

One more game I said, seriously thinking about giving this game a break because I just don't seem to be getting better.

I nailed the last game. We lost 3-2 but it was a close bloody thing and I came out of it with a damn good kd ratio. I knew where they'd be, I knew when to pull back and when to push, made good use of prefiring... everything went right.

Main use is to point at doors to prevent safe entry, hard counters would be IQ, Thatcher or Glaz, or anyone with nuts enough to risk running through blind.

The dog stays behind you at all times attached to a belt leash, pressing the gadget key releases the dog. Using pre-existing pathfinding for white masks in Terrorist Hunt, the dog would run straight into the room you're looking at and seek out a defender at high speed, with a meter similar to Caveira's. If the dog doesn't get to reach a defender in 5 seconds, it immediately returns and the cooldown begins to recharge. The dog would trip Kapkan and Frost traps like anyone else, but wouldnt be able to get past any barricades.

When the dog attacks a defender it gets them on the ground for a short period, where they must be killed before they're able to retaliate and knife the dog. If the enemy is very low health (15 or less) it would kill them immediately. The dog's HP value would either be high enough to withstand a couple rounds or very low because of it's incredible speed, depending on how it's balanced. The operator is able to quickly release the dog through high windows or even when rappelling, which would shake things up a bit for defenders who are listening for someone to slowly swing their way in.

Design issues:
What would happen when you're rappeling, does the dog get harnessed to your chest rig? Would this require extra time to enter/exit rappeling?
What would happen when you die? Would the dog be stuck onto your leash? Would the dog even have a leash in the first place? Bodies are client sided anyways so this would be tricky.
What would happen when you die after you send the dog out? Would it return to your body? Would it remain stationary and attack any defenders that enter its sight range?
What happens for defenders that are perched on top of a vaultable object? Does it leap up to them as an attack or does it have to move onto their elevation first?

This is a case of balance - because as we all know in this general, there is ZERO downside to taking an ACOG. It's not a decision. It's the default on every gun that can take it. Having the area around the scope not magnified, or blacked out, or heavily blurred, balances the decision

I know how magnified optics work. I interpretted your first post to be much more broad than just the acog but you are correct.

I personally dont always like them because of the limited FoV that zooming your whole screen in so much offers. I think there was some discussion on the last general thread that pros were skipping acogs and this was also the suspected reason for them as well. Regardless, I totally see what you mean. I don't like the "all black except scope" approach at all, but not magnifying the rest of the screen is definitely something that could be considered. It would offer a decent dead zone where you cant see through/around the scope itself.

So is the DLC really coming in 2 weeks?
