No you dont. He is fucking insane though. What I did was use Ulforce/Lili/Belphe, (Ulforce should be available by this point) And Grind Belphemon to max strength and Lillithmon to max int. On the first turn nuke him with everything you have, and hopefully his HP will go down to less than 50% at which point he will take his defensive stance. From then on try to time your attacks so that by the time you can kill him, you can attack him twice in a row, in order to avoid him reusing safety guard. Having Sakuyamon on standby for buff removal also helps.

I stand by my opinion that Appmon has the best evolution gimmick so far, but it disappoints me slightly that appmon grades don't easily match up to evolution stages, making it unlikely that any appmon will become regular digimon in future games.
At first one would assume that Standard/Super/Ultimate/God are equivalent to Child/Adult/Perfect/Ultimate because there are four categories, but it's not so clear-cut.
Standard grade appmon are frequently the MOTW even after the main characters can use Super grade chips directly, whereas in past series a Child stage digimon alone was almost never a real threat, with the obvious exception of Lucemon.
Ultimate grade appmon, especially Globemon, appear equivalent to Ultimate stage regarding their abilities and their status in the setting. The Ultimate Four are clearly the Dark Masters of Appmon, answering only to Leviathan itself and *possibly* Deusmon if he exists, making Ultimate grade appmon as rare as Ultimate stage digimon were in Adventure. In the Appmon card game, WarGreymon has made a cameo, shown with Globemon side by side as if they were comparable.
Since there are only six God grade appmon species, and five of them are evolutions of main characters, it's implied they don't exist yet, and Timemon hasn't heard of a higher grade. That sounds like Omegamon-tier Ultimates that evolve from Ultimates to me.
It remains to be seen whether the profile descriptions of God grade appmon are exaggerated, and whether the on-screen feats of destructive power of Ultimate grade appmon can be excused by being in cyberspace.
From what I can see, if appmon were treated as digimon, either Standard grade would have to be considered Adult stage equivalent, or Super grade would have to be subdivided into Adult and Perfect equivalents, possibly using 3X fusions for the latter. I don't see either of those options being taken by Bandai-Namco, judging by the bizarre implementation of OmegaShoutmon in Next 0rder.

I don't know, I have not played P5, but in former games Personas were too OP. Some of them were reality warpers.
In Digimons it depends on the game as well, but in CS they looked pretty weak to me, unless is some digimon at the level of a Royal Knight or Demon Lord.

I just remember that when I grinded Belphemons stregth to the max it definetly made a difference in the Duftmon fight, since prior to that I barely chopped of a third of his HP on turn 1, and then he murdered me.
