I've been playing for like 3 months now, finishing my dailies every single day and getting a lot of 80 gold a day from friends too, and I still have very few cards and only three legends, one of them being C'thun. It takes way too long for free players to amass any playable number of cards.

Go face, they have no healing. Counterspell against their shadowstep, preps and if they're really dumb the quest reward itself.

Again just go face. Your counter spells are key if the game drags out but usually you kill them fast.
>Elemental Shaman
A more even matchup but I win most of the time. Counter Spell can throw their game off if you get their Hex or boardclear. Mirror Entity is good when they drop heavy minions like blazecaller or tolvir sunwalker.

That's the decks I see the most.
Others are usually undefined and don't really follow a pattern.
But usually fireballs and frostbolts to the face finish a lot of games.

This game is already hard enough to get enough playable cards to make a mediocre deck with. Blowing your entire savings on Adventures is a pretty big hit. I've been playing Arena since the expansion came out, since I'm f2p and wanted to get the most out of my gold.

My results so far are... alright! Check out pic related.

22 runs cost me 150x22= 3300 gold

Having invested 3300 gold, I've gained:

24 packs (2400 gold value)
1615 actual gold

3300-2400-1615 = -715 or 715 gold gained!

This doesn't include cards and dust. I've gotten

260 dust
7 commons (all duplicates for 35 dust)
1 golden rare (duplicate of a non golden, dusted for 100 gold)

for 395 total dust. I've seen dust valued at approxiamately 100 gold to 90 dust, so using that value we can count 395 dust as 355 gold. Adding that to 2400 pack value and 1615 gold is a grand total of 4370 arena rewards, subtracting the 3300 of entering the arena 22 times means that I've made

1070 gold value in just 5 days of arena playing!

Unfortunately, my average of 3.86 wins is nowhere near enough for me to "go infinite", that is most of my reward value is tied up in packs.

Still, I'm happy with this investment (over just buying packs with my gold), and it's allowed me to hold off on crafting any of the new legendaries.

This is a fair point, by not playing ladder, I'm not getting that gold. But on the other hand, 1000 gold value over 5 days is much more than I could have ever gotten in 5 days of ladder (500 gold).

Also, I don't really have any meta-decks currently. My packs have been kind of shit (Lyra, Swamp King Dred). I have played some ladder (got to rank 10 with zoolock), but I've been stuck at 10 now that quest rogue and quest mage are dominating.

I guess LoE had more busted cards and it also happened to have the most charismatic legendaries by a long shot, but still kara had a lot of great cards. I've been very surprised by what I'm finding in Arena. I've had some good Mage runs, but it hasn't been my favorite class. I'm finding that Paladin, Rogue and Warrior are best suited for me.

My best runs this expansion have been 9-3, one of those with Mage and one with Paladin.

I haven't tried Druid. It's kind of notorious for being bad in arena (most of its cards are balanced with Innervate and Wild Growth taken into account, which you may not get in Arena).

With flamestrike having reduced drafting %, Mage is certainly taking a hit in Arena.

Some of the top decks are looking pretty cheap currently, specifically Midrange Hunter and Tempo/Secret Mage. Whether these decks stay in the meta, that's to be determined, but both are generally under 3000 dust.

Fair enough, though control pally isn't really a "thing", the first thing that should always come to mind with pally right now is murlocs. It's pretty clearly the most OP deck the class has access to right now, it's so easy to for murloc boards to just spiral out of control.

Maybe I'm just a bit defensive since murlocs have always been a joke and I think that mentality still persists even though they're fucking insane right now if built right. A lot of people make bad mistakes with it though like putting in finja or small time recruits or bad murlocs like grimscale oracle, blowgill or coldlight oracle. It needs to be optimized around aggressiveness and spiraling out of control as soon as humanly possible.

Black Knight is great in this meta, running into way more taunts (which is the main thing you want to get rid of in an aggressive deck anyways) than pirates these days. It can be dropped for a golakka if you run into a lot of pirate warriors though, maybe a tidehunter for a 2nd golakka, but these are just tech choices. Tar creeper is meant to cockblock aggro decks while your murloc board is free to keep growing and going face.

You know, I was thinking this exact same thing about so called "freeze mage".

I really like the old freeze mage (and its Kobold, Alexstrazsa and Antonidas variations), but there current Waygate/Molten Reflection "Exodia" mage (whether in the Antonidas infinite fireball or Arcane/Molten Giant Variants) is just a new deck with the same function.

If Ice Lance was pulled out to open up new kinds of mage decks.... this "Exodia" mage seems like a lost opportunity of design space. It plays very similar to old Freeze Mage, but now has a shit ton of random card generation effects, making playing against it a total fucking joke. You can't know whats in your opponents had, they didn't pick their spells anyway.

While I was sad to see old Freeze Mage isolated in Wild, this new "Freeze" Mage doesn't seem like a worthwhile replacement.

Don't craft leeroy jenkins. It's a decent card, but if you're low on gold/dust there are cheaper alternatives. Check out Reckless Rocketeer. It's one less attack, but is a basic card you already have for free.

I played pirate warrior last expansion using Reckless Rocketeer as a a Leeroy Jenkins replacement. I got rank 5 each month.
