Yes. It was slow and underpowered then and it's worse now that the aggro meta has sped up and the control meta is more unforgiving. There was a reason people moved on from mary for the most part. She might swing back around going forward since she has a future-proof effect but her cost is brutal and the cards she synergizes with are increasingly later in a game where there's better alternatives. Even baphomet who you'd think would help simply enables other better combos with a more robust kill.

You'd be a lot better off taking out those Necroassassin's and putting in 3 Grimnir's. Not having 3 Soul Conversions would be good since you want more low cost followers. Phantom Howl is probably just preference at this point in Midrange since it's not really needed. It's strong but you want to think about what else you want to do. Also you should probably put in DoD so you don't instantly lose once Dragon puts out Bahamut or Israfil.

They've been relying on a roach deck because they basically get now new cards in expansions. Roach is still okay but it's slowing getting worse as other classes just get good cards while forest gets fairy generators that are never supported or viable and a lot of its minions suffer from a combo tax and roach is the only card that actually scales with comboing, most is just "play 2 get +1/+1" or something very weak.

So right now it's playable but not great, and it's still relying on roach or bolt to finish because each expansion it only gets like 2 or 3 cards that are even usable, so you see it's winrate slowly dropping as more classes refine their deck this expansion.

Duelyst has positioning. Games like MtG or HS will never be able to compete in that regard because being good at positioning is a trait strategy games have in order to ramp the skill ceiling through the roof. Basically, if you prefer strategy games, Duelyst is the way to go for your card game needs, maybe PoxNora but most people here have never heard of it before.

It's a shame it's been on decline but strategy games never get that big of a playerbase. People prefer short games like the ones offered by Blizzard and Cygames because they can blame their losses on draws or game balance instead of their own skill; in that regard the game protects people's feelings from being hurt by limiting their actions.

Absolutely not. wolf-anomaly is basically a worse Wolfbolt for "decks that stay above 18 hp", which oddly enough, are also really really good at just killing you or the anomalies. Straight anomaly has inferno dragon syndrome while you don't have the same level of ramp and remove or die pressure cards to suck his hand dry like dragon does.
