I was in the same boat as you. So I recommend that you do what I did. Start an alt and play this game like a FPS. IMHO this game is better as a single player game. The class stories are just so much fun. Plus with so many of the flashpoints you can solo them in [SOLO] mode (with an awesome bot to help you).

If you do decide to play Knights of the Fallen Empire for the story do it with a Knight, Consular, Inquisitor or Warrior, as the storyline makes the most sense with those classes (It's mostly identical across classes).

If you want to find a guild to do stuff with that is possible too. But for me I am just enjoying this game as a FPS and turn off guild invites and group invites.

You'd think that Lana had told him about you. How you for example used to be the go to guy for his Emperor. How you had stomped literally all opposition in your way. Had risen to the top and was basically considered the true leader of the Sith by Marr. Event ends sometime on monday so you have couple of days. You could just do everything up to until you get your ship and be ~35 level and then continue it at your leisure when you want.

It's expected to solo with your companion when leveling. You'll be fine.
Subbing before 50 would give you some extra XP and helpful conveniences for leveling, but they are not required

Once you reach 55 go to fleet. Talk with the droid and do the Shadow of Revan prequel quest. I went from 55 to 57 in a very short time (not even 15 minutes). I am not even finished with the first part yet (just finished taking out 3 of the 4 turrets and I need to take a small break to take care of some real world crap).

So once you hit 55 do this. It is fast, you have the Superman bot to help you (put your companion on DPS) and go to town

Singleplayer RPG perspective is quite good. One of the better games out there from that view.

The class stories are suited to taste but generally speaking most people find the Agent and Warrior to be the most fun.

I enjoy playing this game as a first person shooter so I recommend you giving it a try.

I've completed a few stories during this event (started late or I'd have done more, I'm really interested in Consular story)

Guardian, Juggernaut, Sorcerer, Mercenary, Sniper

Merc was easily my least favorite, it was like no fun to play at all even if it was super effective

I feel like I'll be sticking with the Sorcerer first for the end game stuff I think as I love its crew and it feels fun to play. I just hear it's not very effective.. Will it be good enough though for the majority of content?

Next I'll probably do Sniper as that had my favorite story and fem agent has Ciri's voice, Sniper has no problems in engi or poison spec from what I read, so that should be good yeah?

Yeah Sniper and Sorc seem like fun things to stick with for the long haul until I get geared enough to go for the others

like i let darth thanaton's apprentice live and made him my ally. i generally don't jeopardize war efforts in order to pursue my own goals like most Sith

but I do zap people if they don't listen or give me what I need, that's generally to bad guys or defectors like the doctor on Balmorra. I zapped him like four times.

and i generally kill the opposition if they don't seem like they would be useful later

I think what I'm saying is, I'm generally amiable with people that do right by me and I am super buddy buddy with my crew, but people who cross me generally die unless they can be useful. And building up allies seems to be a good idea in this story

I usually hear how crazy Inquisitor is, but I think he can be played as a "pragmatic" dark/grayish, but still kinda crazy since I get zap happy when people fall out of line

LS sith make the best playthroughs. I preferred not to zap everything like a child throwing a tantrum if I didn't get my way immediately. I also let the Balmorra doctor go because we made a deal and I value my word despite hating traitors.

How I deal with enemy depends on who they are and what effect their death or survival makes. Killing one random lowly soldier who can't even defend himself feels unnecessary but if they're higher ranking officer then off with his head.
