Uniting the Commonwealth wouldn't lead to shit.

People tend to forget that the playable game areas of Fallout 3 and 4 are smaller then that of metropolitan L.A.

The games we play aren't even the size of the Boneyard(which is why there aren't many big towns)

Even if you untied The Commonwealth, the only other major cities nearby are
1. Washington D.C., aka, The Capital Wasteland, which is under the control of the BoS, who aren't going to let you take over their land.

2. Pittsburgh, aka, The Pitt, which is still ruled by Ashur and his massive slaver/raider army(as far as we know). And who equally wouldn't let you just take over

3. Ronto, which, by what Ashur says, is apparently a major military power of some kind, and is equally likely to not let you take them over.

This leaves this new Commonwealth nation to really only control Boston, and the mutant hick infested areas of New England, which is traditionally one of the least populated parts of America, and has virtually nothing in it besides Boston.

They may be able to make some alliances with the very small towns like Far Harbor, and the Abbey of the Road, but in terms of expansion, Ronto, The Pitt, and The Capital Wasteland, have them pretty well contained

It might not come with the mod immediately, but I intend on making plasma melee down the line in updates for my Plasma Caster.

Plasma fist will be a power fist with more casing on it to look less like industrial equipment, and more like the fist from FO3 / NV. I'll also add plasma pipes and barrels on it, so it will actually be more like an energy ballistic fist.

I also really want to make upgrades for the Assaultron blade and mr. Handy saw. I think I'll make an "extended" Assaultron blade that changes it to a broadsword, or make a new weapon entirely. But that will probably be for another mod.

I just want to fix what comes off as a big issue of the game for me. Because it removes the viability and importance of weapons on their own and creates this market for hunting down the 2-shots-in-1 and such weapons. They break the game utterly and it detracts from the experience.

Magic guns in Fallout was a mistake. They should've had interesting unique guns with benefits and drawbacks. The legendary system is just a lazy way to try and stretch the limited options they included.

This just supports the notion that some PA-only weapons should have come into existence, with a handful existing that could be used outside of it as well as inside (EG, the 'Assault Rifle' and Laser/Plasma weapons).

I can't think of a more appropriate PA side-arm than a 14mm Sig Sauer.

Granted, in the original Fallout the weapon being used by the power armored US trooper is clearly a 10mm.

Yeah but what are your load times like?

Since I started modded the game I notice more graphical issues too like NPC's taking a moment or two to actually load into the game world, most notable in my settlements as I seem to get there well before they're even existing again.

And I should note that the only texture mods I use are those that supposedly "optimize" and make the game's texture's smaller. Since supposedly they even load faster I went through the lengthy process of converting them into .ba2 archives and replacing the existing archives to load those instead.

And that was AFTER I noticed the NPC pop-in problems...

I've been having this graphics glitch in FOS for ages and no amount of reinstalling has helped, not even switching from Bethesda.net to Steam.

I have been unable to find any solutions online, either. Anyone know why my dwellers and some fonts look blurry as shit? Compare to the resolution of the pets in this list and it's visibly much lower.

Fallout Tactics kinda has PA-exclusive weapons because the Browning M2 can only be hand-held if you have literally superhuman strength. Even if you could somehow wield it, there's still the problem of ammo weight. The depleted uranium may tear apart time and space, but only a giant could lug it around.

Also Frank Horrigan's AA-cannon is special PA integrated.

I really hate how pipe guns look. I'm seriously considering making a complete pipe gun revamp to make them look functional.

If I was to make a bunch of art (including 3d assets since I know the barebones basics of 3dsmax) would one of you modfriends be willing to help me make it functional?

It's probably a bit too ambitious for "babbies first mod (with unique assets, I've been fucking with Bethesda mod tools since morrowind) but my end goal would be to make a unique modeled receiver replacement for every one in the game, with starting ones looking as shitty (or more) than the current ingame ones and higher end ones looking more like proper guns like pic related.Also I don't know if this one from google images would even work because I don't see how the trigger mechanism is meant to fit on it.

The whole concept sounds OP but it requires a fair amount of input from the player to be effective. It costs a ton of fusion cells/AP to use, and costs a ton of fusion cores and other expensive mats to upgrade. Even the automatic activation mods aren't perfect for keeping you alive because unless you're coming off a sprint they won't always move you far enough to be safe from a follow up hit.

The FO3/NV model is certainly more intimidating thanks to its less rounded and more cubical design but I get "compact but efficient" vibes from the FO4 model, something that the 10mm Pistol was intended to be in the lore, I think. I could be wrong about that though.

In my personal opinion, I like the FO3/NV version better because I'm a nostalgia whore but I appreciate the attempt and do enjoy the design of the FO4's 10mm.

Actually expanding on this question, what does /fog/ consider THE best mod for increased wasteland enemies/encounters in Fallout 4?

I'm looking for something that won't bloat a savefile to an uncommonly huge size, nor make the game take forever to load/behave even more erratically than it normally does.

When you've been adventuring for a long time everything feels so empty after you've cleared it out, and while I tried War of the Commonwealth it seems to not only single-handedly increase save file size to around 50-60 MB, it makes load times (even in-game loads when arriving at areas) take twice as long.

Whats sad is they easily could have made different ammo.

The Omods make it as easy as two keywords added to change a weapons default projectile and ammunition. They easily could have made explosive 5mm rounds as a separate ammo type, but make it really expensive.

Would've made the minigun viable without HAVING to have a very particular legendary, and you have to be mindful of the cost in caps of all those exploding 5mms.

I think the big thing was them trying to move away from needing separate ammo, and having it on the gun, to make it more viable.

One of the biggest complaints I frequently heard about New Vegas was that most people didn't want to go through the rather big hassle of having to buy a bunch of shit to craft these alternate ammo types, when using normal ammo worked well enough anyways.

Most people I know of found the whole system nothing but a hassle, and I recall many posting such on various forums.

Trying the effect to the gun makes it far less of a hassle, since the player can just pick up the gun and use it, and get the effect.

I used this back when FO4 modding had just started. I personally didnt enjoy it, the game became a slog with every 10 feet being another huge battle of nothing but mongrels or ghouls. Never noticed an increase in other enemies. I also levelled insanely fast- I was 40 something in the first couple hours of playing.

I use this now, and I don't feel like I go through the same slog that Increased Spawns gave. Theres an option to change the respawn timer since it doesnt go off of the games timer, I personally set my timescale to 4 and have the respawn at one week. Also a benefit is not only does it randomly choose if something spawns at a spawnpoint but it can spawn multiple different things. I've had runs where there were muties hanging out at Vault 111, or packs of radroaches around. My last run had this three-way battle at the Red Rocket between the Forged, ghouls, and some insects, which was ended when an Irridiated Behomoth charged in and wrecked all their shit.

After a bunch of tinkering and copying other much smarter people's designs I've managed to make a functional pipe gun that would use vanilla animations.

Only thing that's wonky is extractor placement because vanilla guns extract from the same side they feed from and the fucked up trigger mechanism I had to stretch out to make it work since the same receiver can be used for both rifles and handguns.

There are barely any real uniques in FO4. Most "uniques" are just legendary weapons with different names, that you can mod and rename yourself, just like a normal one.

All they had to do was take the NV mod system, make it modular instead of a straight upgrade that can't be undone, and get rid of the 3 mod limit. I don't know what they were thinking when they came up with the current shit.

Hey /fog/ I've been having this issue with fallout 4 with extreme stuttering. It seems like when I reach a new area, and it loads them in it will cause the game to stutter real badly, like it's playing a slide show, but it onl does this if I'm outside though. After it loads everything runs fine, I get about 60fps in most places, even with a lot of charters on screen, but that stuttering is annoying, makes it kinda unplayable in the cities pretty much. I have all the texture mods from vivid fallout, the best choice one, and a few skin and armor mods, but I couldn't imagine it causing it to play that badly. I also have a I5 4690, and running it with a 970gtx. I'm just wondering if anyone else ran into these issues and if they fixed it.

The fans, the consumers of the media, will decide their own canon. Maybe the author likes this and incorporates it into their story, maybe they don't like it and the fanbase makes their own story, etc.

It's like JK Rowling apologizing for X character behaving ooc because she felt that the character should do Y, but the fanbase somehow understood that character better than the author and decided that they should've done Z, and JK agrees.

Brahmin were a result of some kind of food additives given to beef cattle, and after the war they mutated to brahmin and their dung produces the LSD-esque gases required to produce jet. Actually, the whole problem is that worker robots AREN'T efficient due to pre-war robots like Mr Handy bots getting caught in logical loops all the time, and Gen 1/2's break down and get caught in loops also.

Also, Gen 3's don't escape that often, according to the Railraod's records, there have been less then 50 known synth escpaees in the last 20 years.

That wasn't the point.

The point was that they are striving to create a functionally immortal workforce that never breaks down, and never needs humans to give them orders, and can dynamically adapt to any situation that arises on the job by themselves.

This is so that they can devote all of their free time to bettering humanity, without having to worry about things like building maintenance.

The whole point of "mankind redefined" is to fundamentally change how humans live, by removing the need for "work" from human life, which has, up to this point, never been in a situation where work wasn't required.

That they CAN fix up older robots is missing the point entirely, they want a robot workforce that doesn't need fixing, hence the use of FEV in Gen 3 synth creation. FEV keeps synth biologically immortal, makes them immune to radiation, and basically all disease, and gives them a fantastic ability to heal themselves from injury, as well as makes them stronger and faster then any normal hman, giving them the perfect body with which to work.

Gen 3's being in the form of humans, with all five fingers, also allows them to use tools and larger construction equipment that other robots such as Protectrons, and Mr Handys can't.

You didn't specify what part of my post.

For the LOD one, if you have the capability for it, you should do your own LOD generation, but that one is a good simple replacer with no noticeable performance issues. It doesn't have LOD for everything but it's way superior to vanilla LOD, especially when combined with the LOD noise texture mod.

Spiritually, they seem human regardless. Because beyond biology you can take a definition of humanity that is more inclusive. Where humanity is more a broad encompassing thing based on qualities. Outdoor lighting usually is from weather mods and/or ENBs. What weather mod are you using? Also sometimes the weather will change and the lighting will "normalize". As far as what is triggering you for the distance, I'm not sure of as I haven't used LODGEN myself, but I don't think there are LOD models for the Primm iron bars fence, so from long distance you'll only likely see the brick/concrete pillar parts of the Primm walls. I'm surprised how wonky the Vikki & Vance looks though, or that the NCR camp tents are so visible (when they shouldn't be). I'm gonna load up my game and view Primm from the Mojave Outpost, see how it looks (I just use the "Better LOD" meshes, never did my own LOD generation).

You could also try looking around for some of the improved LOD models on nexus to do your generating with.

I was actually in the national guard training yard because I thought I remembered a T60 helmet on a power armour frame I had left there when I took this pic. I remembered wrong.

Unfortunately the short term solution is an unpaired T-51 helmet with a built in cogitator. With one of those traits alone I would already be performing periodic rites to keep it appeased; combined I am glad to have such a glut of oil as my continued search for fibreglass and aluminium yields little to repair rusted armour plates.

Im not very attractive, so I never really dated guys because attractiveness is a big factor for (most) men. I remember reading a computer entry that someone was trying to set up a date with Ingram, but she was always saying no.

The Finch mother tries to set her son up with Lucy Abernathy but he declines on the grounds that she likes someone else. I wish there was a quest like the temple of Mara one where you can go around setting people up.

You actually can do this one time. Travis has a crush on the Dugout Inn employee. It's a cute quest and I wish there was more like it.

Also, the Brotherhood Outcasts can't into hierarchy. They're a military organization without a chain of command. What I've seen so far is dumb. Everything is either a reference to existing shit, or a meme character crudely injected, like multiple versions of Bruce Campbell or some youtube degenerate with a weird accent they got to voice a character. Nothing original, all contrived references.

You want an original mod, try The Code. Sure, it starts off as a Dredd rip off and you're helping Reavers with a heist, but it's actually a clever mod that isn't just hallways full of enemies broken up by shitty memes and text dumps. The Dredd reference even comes off as an homage, rather than "herp, remember this, reddit?" like the O&R mod.

weird but well written. the verbose robobrain takes getting used to. the voice is good, but it talks like an autistic old-timey radio announcer. to be fair, it's an autistic Reaver robobrain, so it fits the character.

one of the va's is either a slav, or putting on an exaggerated slav accent because he's got multiple roles. the character grew on me though, so I stopped thinking about Russians in Boston. Makes sense with the Bobrovs in Dugout Inn, I guess.

overall, the quality is good, but there are a few eccentric characters. the main character is silent though. you can get through the main part of the quest by talking and running around picking locks, hacking or picking pockets. even talking your way through it has multiple paths. or you can just shoot your way through it. that alone puts it above O&R.

Basically Enclave guys want to flee the CW, you beam them up to MZ, they reverse engineer the tech while trying to repair the ship and then you start Starfleet, only with power armor and facism. Big mod. You don't actually get to fly the ship around though, you have to rely on the teleporter.

Integrated or integrated well? FO4 basically took FO3/NV mods and made them shitty and half-assed.

I think the only original idea they had mechanically in FO4 was being able to take items out of containers without opening the inventory menu.

Of course they fucked that up by making item transfer the same button as reload, so when you're neck-deep in ghoul bodies you can't reload because the game thinks you're trying to pick up that pool ball.
