You really don't even need Augur for that, any fast weapon will work as long as she isn't in hyper-armor from one of her charged attacks.

Augur's just the easiest though because it doesn't take stamina and you can just walk in with 32 bullets and have your way with her

By "comfy" I mean the contrast of an area of general danger and dreariness but flashes of something safe, beautiful or something that gives you a sense of safety and normalcy.

"Comfy" to me doesn't mean "comfortable", but something like a campfire in the middle of an otherwise hostile and hopeless place.

And I think that contrast is found in an area like Shrine of Storms in Demon's Souls where the combination of seaside ruins and the sense of the approaching storm from the sea come together to produce an incredibly comfy atmosphere and that is the same feeling that's present to me when I walk around Orphan's beach or the immediate area around the lighthouse, especially the lookout with the grave and the view to the weird, fucked up sun.

While this image is not from Bloodborne, it illustrates to me what "comfy" is about in a nutshell : a place of comfort and relative.normalcy/safety in the middle of a hostile and a dangerous world.

Her healing isn't a problem if you're with an upgraded weapon or have fire paper.

Fighting her with a +2 she seemed impossible, couldn't win her heals. Now I upgraded to +3 and put 12 skill and I absolutely stomped her.

There is no skill involved in Amelia, she's a level/upgrade check to avoid you progressing the game out of its line.

Anyone know how item discovery and items works at all? Do discovery runes stack? Does milkweed rune stack? How does it all correlate to the ARC stat? Can enemies have item pools restricted to hitting certain discovery amounts?

In Dark Souls 2 there was a pretty extensive test done a bit ago that showed that item disc gear didn't stack and that it was better to farm with just the highest possible item(which in bb's case would be ONLY running Eye rune 3)

Then it broke so I switched to my barely gemmed Bowblade, and just kited back while shooting him in the head. Easiest thing I've ever done in my life, on par with fully charged HMLS R2s to the face.

Well, there you go. If you want to do good damage, convert a weapon to elemental damage. At 70arc, not even with full autism gems, you're doing more than reasonable damage and taking advantage of elemental weaknesses in enemies. Don't need a Kos Parasite to make use of Arcane.

You're definitely thinking about it in the wrong way.

You can get 20% Phys gems with only having killed BSB in the main game, with is enough to carry a base-requisite-phys-stats Arc build through most of the game, anyway; but, in the same area you can get the 20% Phys gems, you can also get 16% Fire gems, which are also enough.

There's no reason to bang your head against the DLC unless you're trying to get a DLC weapon.

Nah it was hyped because the demos were excellent. Then everyone played the full game and found out the demos were the whole game. Almost every enemy, weapon, skills, items were in the alphas and betas. It did not get better or different it was just more of the same. Nioh was good but disappointing. A 7/10 game at best.

BLT is easy to power up early because you can use Phys gems.

Comparatively speaking, Arc IS much slower to power up (indeed it's the slowest), but it's faster than most people make it sound.

This sounds just like the conversations I've had a million times in this general already so I'll say this now: No, Arc will never, ever, be "as good" as trip 27% Phys with BBPs and Paper. It just won't, and if that's what you expect you will be disappointed.

You will also groan many times as you throw away 20%, 24%, 26%+ Phys gems while you make your way through the game with 16-18% Fire and Bolt gems.

But, and this is the big but, the build is viable. You won't feel like you're playing with one hand tied forever. Unless you're simply not good at BB, I guess. If you need all the power afforded by cutting edge phys gems and BBPS and Paper, Arc will be difficult.

The basic line of progression, from memory, is something as such:

>7% Fire from CW; or, if you're not a stickler, various phys gems
>9% Fire from Hotdog, or 10-16% Phys on the way through Central Pthu
>7% Cold from HMPH if you're a stickler
>16% Fire from Lower Pthu Layer 1, or 20% phys from Lumpy in L3
>9% Nourishing from Rom for any other weapons to shore up

After that you're set for the main game. There's an 8% Arc in Forbidden Woods, and the Emissaries can drop more, as well as all sorts of other stuff. There's 7% Bolt and Fire gems in Nightmare Frontier. And there's an 18% Arc, and a 15% Nourishing in Mensis.

What you are forgetting is damage resistances. Lots of people in PvP are equipped for physical defence and it's not hard to get a good blend of physical blunt and thrust. What you can't do is defend against bolt fire and arc effectively at the same time. Most of the physical sets have almost no defence against arcane or elemental weapons and fora lot of weapons people won't know the damage type until they get hit by it. Also consider if you are hitting a PvE enemy with specific elemental weaknesses you are doing so with your whole weapon, rather than just the paper. With a fire saw spear I can oneshot FRC Loran Silverbeasts for example.

Pure physical weapons are workable against everything, arcane is more about knowing every enemies weakness and exploiting it in PvE and knowing every armour set and it's damage resistance in PvP.

You can't jump cheese it without a good chance of somebody getting pancaked because they were positioned slightly off, or just weren't ready for Amy to jump.

DeS was the first and has a ton of flaws. das1 is a big step forward, 2 was hampered by shitty development cycle. This is kind of a good point. Arcane defense is harder to stack while maintaining physical defense. Most people seem to opt for physical sets unless they are just fashionborne, which is the way to go. But people don't realize how much attire affects PvP. The difference between low (150 defense) and high (350) can be as much as 100 damage on the higher multiplier attacks, and even 20-50 or so on r1 attacks. Arcane is the best damage type because usually people don't wear attire to resist it. There are much fewer sets that give high arcane defense, and they have shit defense in almost everything else or at least on the physical side. Which makes people overlook them. Bolt and fire are much easier to stack with physical. Lots of popular sets have high physical and fire or phys and bolt defense, or both. Bone ash set, hunter set, old hunter set, etc. The one set that's an exception is the harrowed set. It's blatantly OP with much higher totals than any other set. It boasts one of the highest physical defense combined with very high arcane defense. Now there is also balance, and I have figured out the combos for the highest averages overall. I'm able to achieve 220-240 across all defenses while still looking good.

The thing with BB is that the base game is about on par difficulty-wise with the rest of the series. I'd honestly say DS2 throws more bullshit at you than BB does. The hardest part of BB's main game is, what, Rom? Almost everything in the game can be cheesed (Gascoigne, BSB, Micolash, Ebrietas, etc.) but Rom requires you to actually pay attention and focus on timing.

But with chalice dungeons factored in, BB far and away takes the crown. FRC dungeons are complete and utter fucking masochism sometimes, and there are multiple recordings of chalice bosses outright animation-glitching so they can throw an undodgeable attack at you in the middle of their previous move. I think if they were going to do a BB2, chalices would either be gone completely, or they'd have to be playtested a lot more thoroughly. I'd prefer more chalice-specific material, instead of the only difference between each chalice layer being bigger numbers.

The base game I felt was pretty minimal. Old hunters felt less like additional content and more like part of the game that was missing.

I wouldn't say chalice was half baked, but there was a lot of opportunity there. Another DLC that expanded upon and refined chalice would've been absolutely perfect to round out the game. I absolutely love the concept and I have gotten many hours more PvE fun out of BB thanks to chalice. The genuine challenge means helping people with bosses actually feels worthwhile. root dungeons make for interesting fun even if you do eventually see all the general combinations. I don't think any of the story chalices are massively unfair and i've never had problems with glitching any more than in the regular game. it's FRC that has some bullshit I think slipped by playtesting. Roaming witches are just pure cancer for example.

the base game is fine as a stand alone but the old hunters really adds onto it. from a story perspective old hunters just gives a back story but doesn't directly add on or influence the night of the hunt in the base game.
from a gameplay perspective the base game is also complete as is, but the weapons in the DLC are top tier. plus the boss fights are some of the best in game.

Trying to jumpcheese Amy from the start of the fight is risky because it likes to do backwards slashes after landing, and it's tricky to dodge through especially if it decides to turn 90 degrees during that, which happens sometimes.

If you can't pull off the jump strat from the get go just strafe sideways while staying at mid range and wait till it lowers its head, bop it, repeat.
