There are 3 robots standing at high grounds while playing as 9S with a quest marker on them. When you talk to them, they don't respond and you have to hack into them. During said hack, you hear their thoughts.

Does this actually lead into a quest line or is it just a way to get the +6 hijack boost? I'm trying to finish all subquests and I need to know this.

So which ending is canon before ending E? Did A2 beat 9S?
>>
>>172835509
The pods carry a replacement for his arm to him during the ending, so yes
>>
>>172835509
In ending C 9S survives. But in ending E Pods are saying that all black boxes are offline.
Ending D makes way more sense and gives way more character development, while ending C is literally called meaningless as it fails to resolve a single thing.
>>
>>172835509
>If I let the pods delete my data at ending E, will it delete data on separate save files too?
the most logic path is A>B>C>E cause you see the pods carrying 9S arm

also cause nor him or A2 has a fucking sword in the guts
>>
>>172835625
They are carrying his original arm and could already de-attached infected 2B's arm on their own.
>>
>>172835657
>while ending C is literally called meaningless as it fails to resolve a single thing.
E basically implies they reconstructed the bodies and pods saved the memories. so it dont matter if the black box is out

>>172835323

japan has a boner for nazis. they were allies during ww2, sharing the same ideals of national pride and isolation.
>>
>>172835787
>so it dont matter if the black box is out
It matters when we're talking about the endings. In C Nines is still alive and simply knocked out so his black box signal is still online. He only dies in ending D.

Though ending E may be a fusion of C/D for all we know. 9S gets 2B's sword in his guts and sees the Arc while dying A2 manages to hack into him and destroy the machine network on Earth hence why Tower is crumbling even if Ark flies off.

1st game, the far left wall there is a part around the upper half that you clip pass it

2nd game. just straight to the core without killing anything

3rd game. kill all teh falling arrows, 1 of em is the bug
>>
Is there actually a way to create diamond chips? I thought they're just random drops
>>
>>172836738
Fusing two diamond chips creates another diamond chip +1 level.

Due to the way fusing works (averaging costs, alternate between rounding up and down) you only need 1 diamond chip when fusing chips starting from +0, 1, 3, 5 and 7. 16 +0 diamond chips need to drop for a +8
>>
>>172836310

You can get a PS4 in the 200-300 EUR price range. That's the same range as a decent quality video card. Not about to start that old debate but in Nier's case specifically the PC version's only advantage is a slightly steadier framerate and a higher res if you have the machine for that. Stutters are still in, 900p cutscenes are still in, need a community fix for some things, etc.

That said, buying a console for just one game is dumb.

buying a console -or a PC for that matter- just for one game is dumb.
That said, in general a decent gaming PC is a better investment than a console, even if your PC ends up costing twice as much as the console. You end up spending less on games and there are more games of a wider variety available on PC, plus you can use your PC for many things other than gaming.
As an added bonus, if you use your PC for work you should be able to write it off from your taxes

>>
>>172842254
Not really, the credits are probably the only non-diagetic thing in the game. The pod isn't actually hacking into the credits, the pod didn't somehow summon other pods from other peoples games to help it succeed. The credit sequence is used as a metaphor for whatever the pod was actually hacking. (Itself, to remove the programming lock making it delete everything YoRHa related)

I really like this touch as the "delete your saves" ending from the original NieR had the problem of "How did this happen. Seriously how. How the fuck does he delete memory of himself. How the fuck does that save Kaine. It's a sweet gesture but NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE"

In Automata, it doesn't have to make sense, because it's completely separated from what's actually going on in-universe, while still being effective.

It's a common theme across the entire game and is reflective of existentialism and especially absurdism. The inability to cope with being unable to find meaning in life becomes too much of a burden to bear.

One of the Wise Machines commits suicide after deciding the war it's a part of is meaningless. Speed Star and Father Servo commit suicide once their meaning is "taken away" from them (someone else is faster and stronger than them, respectively).

The scene with Pod 042 is supposed to tie it all together by concluding that suicide is not the answer.

Am I missing something that is supposed to mark the change in treatment of robots between killing the first boss in the desert, arriving at the amusement park and after the opera boss?

The very first area you reach upon landing back on Earth features robots that stare aimlessly at the sky. You then reach the desert where machines further exhibit unusual behaviour, enough for both 2B and 9S to question it.

The machine lifeforms in the village wave white flags, they've chosen pacifism. You will get to ask about it on two separate occasions.

Bear in mind that storytelling in this game can be considered minimalist in that it won't spend a significant amount of time exploring why this is that way or another. The game wants you to make conclusions, and ultimately a lot of the game becomes open to interpretation.

It's not for everyone but that's how Yoko Taro likes it.

>>
>>172849369
>I like Hard mode but not the whole "no lock on" thing
One of the main reasons I played on Hard despite difficulty spikes was to make the crosshair appear consistently.

I thought it was retarded that playing on Normal made the crosshair appear only at really weird, arbitrary moments. Instead of being given the choice between manual aiming and lock-on, I'd have to swap difficulties to choose one or the other.

Should've been a chip, in my opinion.
>>
>>172849369
Honestly the lock on completely trivializes any challenge in the game since being able to auto aim your pod fire and later on laser while doing whatever else just completely melts bosses in seconds. If Hard mode still had it it wouldn't be very hard even before you get a decent chip set.
>>
>>172849909

>too easy on normal, too hard on hard

I really enjoy the combat in Automata but it's really poorly balanced.
How do you fine tune the difficulty, so that it's both fair but challenging?

I like challenging games, but I don't enjoy getting 1 hit killed by random shit on hard even with ridiculous defense chips on.
I've just started the 9S playthrough, got +50% hp, and 45% melee defense, and I still get 1 or 2 hit killed by things even though I'm way overleveled. (on hard)

was thinking playing on normal without mod chips, except for quality of life support stuff (item pickup etc) + limited healing item usage from quick menu only? (10 or 5 max of each). Also no pod abilities. Some of those clear the entire battle with very low cooldowns.

Or am I just overthinking this and should just mash my way through the game? Feels like a great combat system going to waste.
>>
>>172852523
It's showing you how 9S felt when you were fiddling around with the settings like a tard at the start of Route A.
The entire 2nd Route is just showing how much 2B carried 9S and how fucking dumb a lot of the shit you did was, like the retarded fetch quests at the start, when you do them as 2B 9S comments on how dumb it is and you dismiss it, since that's just what you do in games, boring fetch quests. Then on Route B you do them all over again and come to realize that yes, they were fucking retarded, 9S was right all along. The 2nd playthrough is full of shit like that, it does a fucking beautiful job putting you into 9S's shoes

After giving it some thought; this really sounds like Caim's story in Drakenguard 2.

Caim is the aged man
Angelus is the jar bound lizard
Mahna is the young wife who left and never returned. (And took out his eye)

Caim's primary goal is to see Angelus once again where the Aged Man's primary goal is finding his Lizard.

What does everyone else think?

Nothing horrible.
People complain about low FPS on PC while on PS3 it's even worse even with upscale.

In my personal experience i had 2 crashes within 60 hours of gameplay. and the game runs at 50-55 FPS @ 1980*1200 on my R9 380X GPU.

theres a fan mod that fixes the issues that are introduced in the pc version (resolution glitch and cutscene choppiness) and that are carried over from the ps4 version (really shitty framerate). It also adds functionality to increase bloom resolution and forcibly smooth out the framerate

They should rotate and memory wipe Es in my opinion. That sidequest already showed that having them attached to the target is not healthy.

>>
>>172860658
No, you get 60fps @ 900p on base PS4 and 1080p upscale on Pro. Framerates can dip down to 40s.

On PS4, PS4 Pro and PC the cutscenes are all rendered at 900p. The stutters that happen on PS4 versions happen on PC as well.

He's not the strongest around though, A2 is still the single best combat android.

Cruel Blood Oath specifically states that 2B doesn't understand his real feelings and it's painful for her. He hides a lot for whatever reason. Like, when he hacked Simone and got a giant-ass backstory out of her, he barely told a thing to 2B.

Well Nines had forgotten the factory with "Brother, brother..." part but he still has experience of scouting, observing and infiltrating machines for god knows how long.

Of all the characters in story he seems to be the biggest idealist when it comes to protecting humanity. So meaningless of his own existence probably hits him the hardest.

Though he was extremely stable while being at 2B's side. He needs her if he learns that there's no humans around. Without both her and his ideals he goes fucking bonkers.

I can easily see him becoming super-protective of her after ending E and giving her the best life possible while also secretly maintaining some link with remnants of machine network to fend off dangers or maybe collaborating with Jackass and hunting androids behind YoRHa with his hacking abilities.

There's videos on youtube of people doing it, yes.
The more often you die the harder it gets, it takes longer and longer for enemies to die until eventually your bullets just straight up phase through them. If you want to do it solo just reset if you can't clear it in a reasonable number of attempts
>>

It takes around 20 minutes if you do it without any deaths.
Saw a VOD of some guy doing it, took him over 2 hours with multiple deaths.
The key is to kill the small names first, since they shoot randomly in your direction and big ones always shoot in predictable patterns.

Even if you leave, 153 actively backs up 9S to the moment of his choice then dumps his memories back into his body in ending E.

The bullet hell sequence and the cutscene afterwards are Ending E, Ending E triggers when the [E]nd of YoRHa text pops up before all of that even happens.
If you definitely got all the other endings then that's pretty weird, you should have gotten the achievement/trophy, dunno what went wrong.

Don't worry though, for a "perfect" save file you have to let the game delete your save one time anyways so you get the final title screen, and you'll be surprised how much stuff you missed if you play through the game again knowing what you do know now, I'd say it's totally worth it

>>
>>172885438
Majority of weapon stories are rather metaphorical but those two clearly show who the are talking about.
21O cannot physically be near 9S and has a clear fixation on him which fits the first part of Virtuous Grief. She's also tsundere as fuck when 2B is nearby but can't have enough of Nines when he's alone. And her story ends with her being absolutely mad and attacking Nines who just lost 2B and grieves for hers.

Cruel Lament is obviously about murder rampage 9S goes for. You can literally make enemies scream with a special hacking chip so "dying wails" part is very relatable to him. And level 4 is about him and a dead 2B's body after he murdered an army of them, becoming absolutely mad.

Was it implied that 2B has killed 9S before the start of story, or was that genuinely their first encounter?

She at least knew her true classification as 2E, right? And that would imply she knew about the moon server, or is it assumed she was kept in the dark about the details, and just instructed to kill 9S at regular intervals?

Just focus on achievements. Keep in mind that the second superboss is not repeatable once you've killed it, and Ending Y requires you to die to its self-destruct at the end of the fight. It's the only missable piece of content in the game.
One quest requires you to get 95% unit data which honestly isn't so rough, but a lot the enhanced machines are rare spawns so it's not really worth filling the section out completely.
There are no achievements for filling out the fishing intel page either, which is an extremely long and tedious endeavor so don't even bother. Get the couple of weapons you need and the one Pod and drop fishing forever.

You're both utterly retarded. I'm saying that Automata ignores classic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dramatic_structure. After beginning of route C and its raising action the complete halt in plot progression is extremely unsatisfactory and even annoying. Every author knows about this and they avoid it as much as possible. That's why you lamost never see this kind of structure in books, films, tv shows, anime or games.
Taro was certainly well aware that players may be not pleased with it too. But he decided to go with it anyway, probably for gameplay purposes.

The thing about videogames is that YOU control the pacing. Nothing is forcing you to sidequest.
And yeah, Yoko Taro is an unconventional director and writer, that's the main draw to his games. It's refreshing and interesting.
>>
I hate how endings C and D are basically irrelevant because the game shepards you into doing them one after the other, and then E just straight up runs your second C/D ending off the road.

You're not given any time to appreciate the endings in their own right.

All of Taro's other games are able to pace their endings properly, but this one just dumps three of them in your lap like it doesn't know what to do with them.

If it were valid criticism I'd respect it but "REEEEE I DON'T WANNA DO SIDEQUESTS I WANT ANSWERS TO ALL OF MY QUESTIONS NOW" isn't valid criticism. It's childish. What kind of story immediately answers the questions it raises like that? And that's completely ignoring the fact that all sidequests are optional and can be done at any time, even if you've missed them by accident. Why complain about the pacing when the story is taking place within a medium that allows the player to control the pacing?
>>

No clue on that one. She reminded me a bit of Tankgirl though, with how eccentric and crude she was.
>>
>>172894069

Shit like this is why the west can't innovate anymore. People are utterly obsessed with following structures and rules so in the end nothing is valuable because it's all the same.

What makes the gameplay of the Drakengard series so bad?
>>
>>172894842
Definitely. You see hollywood following formulas like this to a T, to the extent where people can splice footage from dozens of movies comparing them to each other and showing how devoid of innovation the industry is. Shit like marvel movies always follow the same structure so often that they're all incredibly boring and predictable. People become numb to action scenes and plot-twists when you can predict what they are and when they occur long before they take actually place.

Dramatic structure was meant to apply to Greek drama, not as a definitive rule set to be followed for everything ever made. Some of the best stories ever told follow different structures than exposition -> rising -> climax -> falling -> end. Especially eastern literature which has all sorts of variety in storytelling methods.

This structure was defined in ancient Greece because it's just something obvious. There is no space for innovation here, just like you can't innovate with shape of wheel.
People will always hate cliffhangers, people will always hate fillers. If protagonist goes to the castle of the main villain and then suddenly fucks off to gather flowers for 10 episodes, it's not innovation, it's being retarded.

>>
>>172895238
It's just antiquated. It's a hack&slash where you fight unending hordes of faceless mooks, like Dynasty Warriors, but the gameplay in unpolished and clunky as fuck. And then there's the flying segments which are much more fun, but can be boiled down to "Ace Combat but worse".
It's certainly not unplayable but in this day and age you need have a desire and interest in the lore/story of Drakengard to motivate yourself through the gameplay segments.

No anon, it is YOU who must kill yourself. No western director would ever even dream of incorporating NewGame+ into the main storyline of the game, highlighting the repetition and futility of not only the player's actions but the cyclical and fruitless actions of the character in the story.
Innovation is the root of art. No great artist has ever stuck to the books and done things the way someone else told them to. Maybe you want storytelling to stagnate not only in the medium of videogames, but all mediums, but I'd rather that not happen.

Ending E is brilliant in a vacuum, but it is really weak in the context of the game as a whole.

When you get that ending, you haven't actually spent any time with the characters, because you've only just finished learning who those characters are(or in A2's case, you still haven't).

While thematically on point, its tone is almost a complete non-sequitur.

And on a meta level, it feels like Automata's protagonists got a Get Off Yoko's Ride Free card. The oldest of the bunch is literally four years old. They haven't experienced a fraction of the suffering or hardship that Taro's other characters have, and as a result, it feels like they didn't really earn their happy ending. Zero was on Yoko Taro's Wild Ride Turbo Deluxe Edition for 19 years, and the best she could hope for was getting put down by her son and maybe becoming an eternal extra-dimensional monstrosity.

If Taro didn't have a history of writing brilliant endings without these problems, I would be gulping this shit down with a smile, but I expect better from him.

NG+ doesn't have anything to do with changing structure. It's just repetition of exposition -> rising action -> climax -> resolution -> some exposition again etc. Every tv show in existence does it. A and B routes follow that pattern too. Only route C breaks it in the middle.

I don't think that's really fair to say. The extant of the suffering of the characters in automata extends way beyond the scope of what we actually see in the game. 2B already starts off as miserable and basically emotionally destroyed after being forced to kill 9S so many times.

The difference here is that Automata is dependent on its supplementary material to prop up A2 as an actual character.

Drakengard 3 had a similar problem, except that was its supporting cast - not one of its main characters.

>suffering
It's not just suffering. It's about having to earn your ending. Automata's protagonists have it handed it to them on a silver platter.

To quote pod 042, a future is not given to you - it's something you earn. Nier knew this, and dragged his wrinkly old man cock through a sea of broken glass and rusty nails to take that future from Taro's grubby mitts. Same for Zero.

Basically.
Bethsoft games seem to be built solely on the premise of being large piles of wasted potential left for modders to actually finish. Probably more apt to be called toys rather than games.

Its the only explanation that make any sense at this point for how unfinished and disappointing they always are despite consistent critical acclaim and commercial success.
>>
>>172899392
2B, 9S, and A2 all suffered as well, though. You can't deny this.

Whether they did or didn't suffer enough is subjective, I guess. But it ultimately doesn't matter. You can't really quantify suffering, and even if you choose to do so this series has some of the most suffering of any work of fiction ever. Like I said, only the suffering scale no one will ever come close to Emil. Ever. Nier's suffering is peanuts compared to his, same for Zero. That doesn't mean they didn't earn their endings, does it? Same goes for the Androids.

I literally said it's not just suffering. It's about figuring out what you want, and working your balls off to get it. Automata's protagonists don't. They just do what they're told for half the game, and then in the second half 9S just spirals into madness.

A2 comes the closest to earning her ending, but of course she is the least developed and least focused on, and her ending is much more in tune with Taro's other endings, since she is still all alone and without her waifu for laifu.

I agree that A2 is underdeveloped, but the rest of your opinion is shit. 9S has a complete character arc, and 2B's, though subtle, is present and makes perfect sense. Everything she does makes sense by the end of the game, and we don't really need more time to understand her.

Oh fuck off and die. Nier didn't even get a happy ending, unless you count

>MUH SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIAL

Frankly, the androids didn't necessarily get a happy ending either, just a hopeful one.

But you missed the point entirely. Entirely. For all your pseudo-intellectual bullshitting, the point of the game flew over your head. To spell it out for you, it's about:

>EXISTENTIALISM

The game wasn't about suffering through hardship or enduring; it was about finding your meaning in the world. The reason the machines fucked off is because they found a purpose in life. The reason the Pods resurrected the androids is because they developed consciousness, watching their masters struggle. The reason A2 and 9S fought at the end wasn't because one was crazy; it was because they had a difference in opinion of what their lives meant. A2 was still trying to find meaning by protecting the future, whereas 9S thought he could find meaning by tearing it down.

Yeah because you're still in the tutorial and it's not trying to overwhelm you by forcing way too much information down your throat at the opening chapter. You're just supposed to smoothly get through the tutorial and let the game unfold at a good pace in front of you.

Read the quote. Play the game.

All of the characters are fucking dead. Their futures are gone. By reviving the protagonists through the power of feefees, the pods literally give them the future.
>>
>>172903151
Advice time.
Pay attention to your enemies. Before they attack their eyes flash and they make a sound. When this happens, dodge.
Be careful doing counter attacks in a group as you can be hit by another enemy.
Use light attack on small enemies when they aren't attacking. If they are attacking, shoot them or use heavy as it has enough range that you wont get hit in the process.
Stick with heavy attacks against bigger enemies until you are more confident.
Your pod gun is independant so you can shoot while engaging in melee.

Dodge like a motherfucker.
>>
>>172904001

>>
>>172903950
>it's not trying to overwhelm you by forcing way too much information down your throat at the opening chapter
I understand the idea but I still think this kind of start is very poorly executed.
>smoothly get through the tutorial
By having player start all from the beginning every time? Would it have hurt to put a checkpoint/save point after the shmup part?

>>172904034

>>
>>172904034
Forgot to mention.
Don't bother fighting gunners. Just shoot them.
As with large enemies, it's better to play it safe for now.
You can destroy their bullets by shooting them.
>>
>>172904407
>By having player start all from the beginning every time?
No, by having them play on the intended difficulty, because Hard and above are meant for experienced players who are already familiar with the game's systems looking for a greater challenge. You aren't supposed to be brute-forcing your way through the tutorial on the harder difficulties on your first playthrough, you're just going to not enjoy the game.
>>
>>172894404
I took a long hard look at chapter select and hunting down things I missed before finishing the other ending and getting E. I feel this is the actual intention.
>>
>>172904001
Just stop. Every reply to you proves you wrong, but you're clinging onto your opinion because you want it to be right. You want to feel superior to the game. wow great "advice"

There's zero reason to heal without pausing unless you're in no danger of dying anyway or you're doing an extremely specific challenge run/trying to show off (and if it's the latter then you fucked up the moment you got hit).
>>
>>172904749
I understand where you're coming from but this just makes me feel like the prologue was made so you'd get through it by letting the game hold your hand instead of slowly learning how shit works which omho is what tutorials/prologues should be expected of. That, or there being a sort-of "codex" mode where you can train how shit works outside of the main story.

Oh, wait, no it doesn't, you intentionally obtuse baboon. Whether you try or you don't, the game bails you out after twenty minutes.

Loving every laugh. Help me to phrase the following in a manner that your feefee-addled brain will understand:
>they have no future
>now they do

>>172904781
I'm glad someone gets it. You need to spend that extra time with the characters to make E ending worth anything.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work if you've already completed most of the quests, and there is no impetus to not open up chapter select and check out the other route. Hell, that's the natural thing to do if you're really absorbed in the story and want to know what happens.
>>
>>172905161
I prefer it because it doesn't break the flow of the game.
I don't know how good you are but if I was pausing every time I wanted to heal when I started I probably would have dropped the game.

You don't have to do it, but it's good to know you can.
>>
>>172905062
Also I have a question relating to the picture.

Does the game randomly generate what Chips you get from fallen comrades?

Is there a chance I could pick up some top chips? Chips that were fused? I have like 15 more bodies to collect in this room.
>>
>>172905184
The tutorial does teach you stuff, it just does it sequentially one-step at a time. You said you were still stuck on the first encounter with the giant spinning razor arm so I'm not surprised you don't know this.
You don't even get chips in the prologue so why would it explain the chip menu and how to unequip them in the prologue?
The purpose of a prologue is to introduce you to the world and story while easing you into the gameplay, not dump a text file of all the gameplay information you'll need as soon as the cutscene ends. You have the auto-use item chip so that even if you're bad you'll be able to keep continuing through the prologue without dying as the mechanics and controls are introduced to you.
I always find codex modes like you described them to needlessly take me out of the gameplay.
>>
>>172905576
It doesn't give you chips, it gives you chip effects. For like 30 seconds.
>>
>>172905712
Oh well shit. I just wasted my time then. Good thing I didn't try to farm bodies during my play-through.

I honestly wanted to do as much of a blind run as I could in this game. So I'm catching up on a lot of things I missed like Self Destructing to remove 2Bs Skirt...I didn't find this out until my 3rd run

Your lackluster ability to create insults is completely what I'd expect from someone of your intelligence level.
The entire them and message of Ending E is coming together and giving help to others who are struggling, primarily with depression in the face of the futility of life and the existential dread that comes with it. The message of the game isn't "suck it up loser, either commit suicide like 70% of our characters, or git gud and beat life by yourself because nobody's here to help you". When you recieve help in the credits, it's from someone who deleted ALL OF THEIR SAVE DATA in its entirety, in the scope of the game it means they gave EVERYTHING just so entitled shitheads like you could spit on it as though it's treating you like a baby.
You're the reason art is dying.

Comparing the basic gameplay tutorial of Revengeance to this, I think Revengeance did it better. It allowed me to train the timing of parries/blocks etc before starting the real game. I'd have hoped this one had it or, as I said, another mode to practise. You may not like such modes but I do and so does many other people.
>>
>>172905874
I did the same thing (picking up every corpse I saw) because I thought they gave chips as well, this was until I was well into Route B.
Also to answer your initial question, the chip effects it chooses are based on the chips that the dead player had equiped. Whether it's randomly selected from those or picks the best effects or something else, I however do not know.

You have to time it perfectly. I was trying to get to the top layer of the Forest Zone Castle. And I acciddently did 2 (Fist) Launchers back to back to reach the top.

I then tried with the Spears and it worked also.

The timing is really tricky, I used sound queues to time it. I'm still working on perfecting it.

I suggest going to a area where you get Max FPS to practice (I'm on PC so...)

I'm the same anon who posted the pictures with all the bodies so yeah...time to fight Emil..when I check back I'll try to explain it in detail if you want to know

It has nothing to do with what the game is about. Thematic consistency is not an excuse for shitty writing.

>>172907380
>all this irony
I literally just posted my opinion on why ending E didn't work for me, and multiple people responded by telling me to kill myself.

>thought the gameplay was supposed to be a test of mastery or skill
Literally nowhere did I say that. The only reason I even commented on the difficulty of ending E is because someone claimed that the player earns the ending by STRUGGLING through that MONSTROUS twenty minute ending sequence.

Go ahead and check. I'll wait.

Personally no need, I've already 100% and put down the game after deleting my save, but there might be other anons who want the info.

The themes are just one facet of a story. Characters and pacing are also facets, and are no less important.

Is that really so hard, anon?

Your entire argument is based on the fact that it's "bad writing" because the characters didn't "earn" their "happy ending". It's been explained to you over and over that

1. the ending isn't necessarily happy, just hopeful
2. the THEME of the game isn't about crawling through glass to etch out a little happiness; the THEME of the game is about what it means to exist, and the ending works well with that
3. it's your personal opinion only that getting bailed out of a bad situation constitutes bad writing. you could just as soon say

>World War II is such hamfisted bullshit. The Marines only beat the Germans in that battle because they got bailed out by Navy artillery? Fuck this deus ex machina shit.

But I'm not a bitch anon...I've been playing Hard Mode since the beginning. Maybe I'll just up it to Very Hard since I died in 1 hit anyway.

At least I know I have a goal to hit. I've been playing this game very lax so I can enjoy it. I don't get how people rush through 100% just to quit the game after a few days. It's like ordering a sand-you thought I was going to do a food analogy

They weren't "bailed out of a bad situation". They were brought back from the dead to get a second chance at life after fucking up their first one through no will of their own. They didn't even get a say in the matter.

And not only did Taro call it a happy ending, but it is incredibly happier than anything else he's ever written. For all intents and purposes, a hopeful ending is a happy ending.

>the THEME of the game isn't about crawling through glass to etch out a little happiness; the THEME of the game is about what it means to exist, and the ending works well with that
That wasn't the THEME of Nier or Drakengard, either, and yet somehow it was present in the work. Almost as if it has nothing to do with the THEME of the game. Really gets the old noodle cooking.

>>
>>172908157

You can get Ending E without accepting help, it's just extremely difficult.

If you do accept help, it's not you making the sacrifice for the happy ending it's the other players who erased their save data to help you.

We, the playerbase as a whole, collectively fight against the developers of the game to deny their sad ending and win the possibility of a happy ending. That's why the music breaks into a choir.

You have to fight for your future, but you don't have to fight alone.
