I'd probably say give the Vita version a pass and get it on any other platform. The meat of the game is the Raid mode and performance for the levels is all over the place.
If they were still patching it it would be one thing, but they stopped giving it patches soon after release.

Top to bone burial in dragon's Crown, when it's a bone with PSN id, check the bags and equip the one with Conqueror's Seal. the only item really worth it, since they are indestructible and don't need repair.

Sometimes you simply score of of these by burying.

Yet Sony kept on supporting it, and it was estimated to have sold 80 million units towards the end of its lifecycle.

We don't see the same amount of support with the Vita. Maybe AAA western devs is just not interested, and would rather develop for mobile, so Sony gave up putting anything more than a 'life support' into it.

Ogre tactics came out in 1995 and got several re-releases, came out on the super famicom, sega saturn, play station, and then eventually psp.

And tactics came out in 1997, then re-released for the psp in 07. The last tactics game was made in that same Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Which only came out on the DS.

Which bugs me because in war of the lions they added a guest character from A2 which is the protagonist of that respected game. A guest character from another platform entirely.

I played the trial to that game and the only notable difference of that game from other mmo's is how pretty it is and tight animations.

Other than that its nothing special at all, it just has the FF aesthetic attached to it. I can get the same type of gameplay from any other mmo's such as guild wars and wow. The fact they stick to the paid subscription model and still have a population is eerie to me.

Yeah but it didn't sell so much until it costed about half of the original price. While today we STILL don't have a significant price cut on the memory cards, and haven't had better ones for several years.
One thing about the PS3 is that at some point Sony stopped caring about gaining money from hardware, and they started making money just selling games/services, while for the Vita they did the opposite: continued to make money off sold consoles, but stopped developing new games themselves.
If the Vita is still alive, despite being now a several years old piece of hardware, is that until now it had no real direct competition: the 3DS supported pretty crappy resolutions and wasn't very powerful, phones have power, but don't have a definite benchmark, or an OS built for gaming, or inbuilt controls. They're portable, but aren't a console, basically.
Something might actually change with the Switch, since you have portability, power, controls, but we'll have to see. Sony and Nintendo are equally draconian to deal with, but in slightly different ways, so it's to be seen how devs will deal with them.

That said, if Sony actually launched a new portable console with the aim of making it affordable, powerful, easy to program for, easy to expand memory instead of MUH PROPRIETARY, I.E. it acted like someone who wants to spread the console and sell software, and not jew hard on their new hardware, and integrate it well with PS4, I don't see why it wouldn't be successful.

Heck, how much friendlier would it be for players if all digital multiplatform games were cross-buy by default, instead of having to buy them on each and every platform from the same company? Although Nintendo is also guilty of this, how many times must I buy the NES classic games again?

FFXIV's very core gameplay is similar to that of WoW, I'll give you that, but most people just want that out of a MMO, instead of it being different at all costs, and the producer understands just that. They want a WoW-light MMO experience, with hardcore and casual content, with vertical gear progression, with constant updates, with things to grind, quests, places to explore, etc.
And yeah, people want the Final Fantasy experience, and the game gives you that. You're the Warrior of Light, there's a main story of your journey with many sidequests, and when you reach the end of the story, you even have your 20 minutes of credits rolling (FFXIV actually is the guinness world record holder for longest credits in a MMO). You can change class/job on the spot, and have all of them on the same characters, which is also very FF. Crafting system is very deep, and gathering has its nuances too, and both have dedicated gear. There's activities like sightseeing and fishing, a card game, a RTS with minions, ranked "we want the pro gaming audience" PVP, NieR-like gardening, and much more. Plenty of fashion gear, and plenty of stuff to decorate your house with. Many people only play for those two things alone. And instead of ugly western models, you have pretty Japanese fantasy races. Anyone finds their niches of interest.

Also, subscription MMOs actually tend to be more balanced (well, they are for sure compared to P2W ones), and the paywall leaves out many people like underage kids that are widely considered undesiderable. And consider that since it makes them a lot of money, they actually can, and do, reinvest a lot of it into the game.

Also, consider that trial is only a very small part of the game, as a lot of fun things are expansion only. Like for example flying around with mounts.

I understand that not everyone will find the points above interesting, but they are valid reasons for which the game is one of the most successful MMOs, while others have fallen.

I think that boils down to support more than anything, kotor still has a playerbase and that game is fucking ass. But it still gets constant updates and new content, same with the elder scrolls mmo. That game isn't anything special but they keep supporting the game which keeps players interested.

Speaking of fucking dead mmo's. Its safe to assume phantasy star is never ever coming here especially with its playstation vita version? Because I used to play the fuck out of universe on the 360 and star portable 2 on the psp.

A mmo on a handheld is wild to me and makes me confused on how that would even work seeing with the limited space handhelds have and hardware.

They do. That's why they said the time is not right for a Vita successor. The manufacturing cost for the Vita is probably too high to even compete with a mid-spec phone. People like to compare numbers to prices. Carrier subsidies in the west also helped killed it, because it makes buying phones a lot cheaper.

So they tried to find a niche for it.
