I've got 50 hours, its my least played Total War game. Those 50 hours are also split between my younger brother and I.

I think its because I don't understand enough of the lore, I feel no attachment to any factions and can't set any goals that a faction may have achieved in the lore. For me they're just factions that fight in different ways and look interesting.


In the history TW games I can play all the different factions from their own historical POV and try and achieve their goals or try and achieve each nations peak in history or surpass it.

Lets try to have a reasonable discussion about what we find worrisome as of right now in regards to the New Game

For a campaign said to be spanning 4 different continents, with 2 factions specializing in naval superiority, and a mega campaign that will have a big ocean separating the 2 continents, not having naval combat is disappointing. Whether you liked it in past iterations or not, the WH setting definitely has potential for unique naval battles with all the variety there could be between factions on the seas

This could either go really well or really badly imo. CA has said you can still og sandbox however, but it remains to be seen how this will effect the typical campaign experience

I agree, but frankly, as a resource-based decision, I understand and even agree with it.

If it's a choice between having naval combat and them skimping on other areas of the game or even delaying the game for a significant amount of time I would personally choose no naval.

That means trimming excessive distance provinces down.
Look at the Wasteland for example. 1 tiny settlement and then a significant chunk of land that has nothing in it. Empire regions are huge and can be trimmed down for the combined map. So can the wasteland.

That's actually a possibility, they talk about potentially taking some of the 'smaller factions' out of the game - which either means that the map gets scaled down or it really is both maps but they roll some of the smaller factions like Karak Hirn or Bloody Spearz into the parent faction to save us from 5-minute-long end-turns.

Realtalk about the "mega campaign" lads.

There's more likely than not going to be cut factions, for example we'll probably see a more unified Empire and Bretonnia at the start, less orc tribes etc etc.

That being said I doubt we will have less regions. The reason for this is because it would require CA to remodel the Old World completely whereas if they keep the current size and region-count it makes their job easier.

Therefor I think we'll indeed have the promised "huge mega campaign", it just won't have as many minor factions in it.

IR: And it has been in every Total War game we've ever made. We did sit down for Warhammer 2 and talk about this. In various Total War games in the past we've tried to do a new end-game thing and it's never really created any tension in the end. With this, we said, one of the things we really want to do now is create that challenge right up to the end, so people don't just stop their campaign before they've even finished. And so the Vortex is the mechanic for that and it means you can lose the game, even if you own over half of the map. Everyone is racing towards this and there are things other than the capturing of territory that can progress you in this race.

It keeps you having to push and having to race, right up to the end. But, having said that, it's also a vehicle for telling narrative as we go along as well. Each of the races has their own individual take and storyline to do with the Vortex. If you do want to ignore that, you can just go and do world domination, but there's this alternative route and other races will run for the Vortex, if you don't wipe them out.

When his father died/left the elven council didn't want Malekith to be their leader because the war with daemons was over and they wanted someone less warrior-like. Malekith said sure but after some 1500+ years of being the greatest elf he said "fuck it!", killed the Phoenix King and stepped into the Flames of Asuryan, like his father did, to be reborn as a Phoenix King. He just got burned pretty badly, he's Darth Vader now, he needs to wear this armour all the time.

HElves have LITERALLY EVERYTHING, from standard spears and bows through 2H axes and swords to dragons and OP magic
DElves are mirroring them in lot of ways, but in lore they are more proficient in dark magic and assassination
Lizardmen do have some ranged units I believe but they are not very good.
