so detonating it in front of a shield wont pull anyone, but you can wait a bit and itll just travel through it at which point you can pull anyone standing behind the shield

Orisa. I fucking try my best to do well with her, and I manage to do so in QP, but as soon as I go comp no one fucking tries. Playing comp as Orisa feels like my entire team has abandoned me. I don't play her aggressively, but I also never have my team to back me up. I wait for my team, try and move in, and then suddenly everyone splits off and decides to push from multiple directions, usually solo, and end up getting raped. So I'm usually standing alone and trying to retreat while 4 people gangrape me. When I play Symm I give zero shits about anyone and pretty much carry my teams because coordination is so piss poor that I can go off and do whatever the fuck and manage a good 3 picks before the enemy wises up and decides to focus.

You can say your mechanical skill is good when you can hit where you're trying to hit most of the time. and your gamesense is good when you understand everything that's happening around you.

I guess it takes about a week's worth of in-game playtime to reach a kind of relative "peak" before your skill starts to feel like they're stagnating.

Is there any hero that outright crushes Pharah+Mercy? These teams I keep getting literally can't hitscan at all.

Alright, after playing some more Overwatch today after buying it yesterday, Roadhog seems to be my most preferred hero.

Winston is cool, but his kit is too eh for me. Lucio is too squirrely and quick-paced, while Zen is a bit tricky.

Zarya is pretty nice, too.

basically, build ult fast as possible. Seriously, don't try and hack enemy health kits, since enemies only go to a health kit out of desperation.

Hacking tanks can be difficult, they're at the front. Enemies will see those hack strings and start interrupting you. Hack someone in the back, like Ana or Pharah (if you really want to do anything useful).

Depending on how fast you're building ult, use it when there are a shitton of shields and the teamfights start. If the teamfights practically over but there's a Mercy waiting for that last person to die, I'll ult just to deny the rez.

This is honestly quite true. People say that silver and gold are the shitter ranks, but as soon as you break in to platinum, it's a whole nother world of tryhard. I have an account at 4080 and another at 3900, with lower one i just picked lucio for like 20 games in a row to see what happens, i dropped from 3.8k to 3.2k and then started picking soldier, road and zarya and i got my sr back.

Eventually matchmaking will be matching me up with people with equivalent SR but much better ping, since there can't be many people with such high pings around the world, and at obviously it would be some advantage.
