Holy shit Chrono Clock shocked me. I’m 15 minutes in and was not prepared at ALL. I figured with the “Chrono Clock is kamige" and “Chrono Clock is kusoge" memes that it would obviously be somewhere in between but I did not expect to get so immediately drawn in.

Majikoi was comfy. It set an atmosphere and had attention to detail that made me attached to the characters and setting.
Princess Evangile was engaging. Despite the numerous shenanigans it had a way of telling the story that made it a good, not great, read.
My first impression of Chrono Clock is that it’s just fucking FUN. Makes no sense and will probably jump around too much to make sense plotwise, but I can’t get rid of this wide grin on my face, nor do I want to.

Please tell me that that is the kind of ride I’m in for, because I don’t want it to stop. The setting is not as good as Majikoi and the storytelling is not as good as PE, but regardless of that I am thoroughly enjoying myself because of how well it pulls off making utter nonsense seem like a good time.

Honestly, you'll find a decent chunk of protagonists that stray from the typical "neutral" or "clueless" formula in the "Proactive Protagonist" tag. Not all the time, but it's a good place to start.

Osadai is a much better recommendation for a pick-me-up, since it's moe, funny, and actually makes you care about the characters. Nekopara uses the visual novel medium to present cute designs, but that's all it does. It doesn't put effort into anything else.

Even as a moebuta myself I cannot begin to imagine why people think Nekopara is worth recommending. You would get the same result just look at Sayori's artbooks on sadpanda.

There's even a plot point in one of the games about one of the characters being an assbaby and constantly having to deal with harassment because of it.

I remain an EOP by choice, because English translations are the objectively superior way to enjoy eroge.
Even a crappy translation is better than being forced to read the raw text as it was originally written, because the translation provides a convenient layer of abstraction between the reader and the text, insulating them from all of its flaws, or providing a plausible outlet for them.
Even if you see something wrong with the text you can just say "well, the translator must have fucked it up, I'm sure the original was better" and thus maintain the illusion that you are reading something of quality, greatly enhancing your own enjoyment of the work as a result.
Just think of all of the people that start reading VNs in Japanese and then lose interest quickly. Why don't we see many people in here who have been reading in Japanese for 10-20 years?
It's almost all faggots who just started in the past year or two! And yet these people, who are only having their experience propped up by their temporary novelty think they're in any position to say anything on the subject? A load of shit that is. Only when you've been reading VNs in Japanese for as long as I have in English do you have even the slightest justification to say this way is better.
