Pretty handy, after a few forma + a decent Riven, the charged shot will comfortably one shot Lvl100 Corpus Techs and heavy Infested. Haven't taken it to a Grineer 3 yet because they've all be the wrong sort of mission since I finished my build. It's fairly easy to break 40k raw damage total on regular shots (and I think charged is like 2.6x), but by default the flak is pretty scattered, so point blank only for high level single targets (unless charged) or use it for room clearing with punch through + Fomorian for rehitting. It's a weird weapon, but immensely entertaining.

That's my entire point about Octavia. She's okay at several things. Mallet is decent DPS. Resonator is passable CC. Her invis is alright. But it all adds up to a very mediocre frame with very buggy mechanics.

DE could have handled her Metronome much better. Her other abilities aren't that visually intrusive, since things like Nidus exist, but Metronome being a massive fucking wall of light is terrible design.

If I were to change it, I'd make it center on each affected player's HUD reticle instead, at least that way you can time the beats without having to look at Octavia's feet. Could also be visually less massive because you're always looking at your reticle anyway, like Navigator's indicator.

It's a different type of CC. The CC you mentioned is all single cast stuff that doesn't work on new enemies that show up. Resonator can be thrown down and forgotten about for its entire duration, and unlike some CC like MP, completely stops enemies from being a threat. You can't just 1:1 compare numbers. Yes it's range is slightly on the low side, but it also actively seeks out enemies that aren't affected by it, and the enemies it's already affected will keep following it.

Valk is good. Absurd damage output, being invincible, and granting one of the best buffs in the game. Sure her 1 is a crutch for people who can't press buttons and her 3 is sub-par, but still. She can do that easily without her 3, and without having to do the lengthy finisher animations to kill just one target in a game about killing hordes of enemies. It's the reason sniper rifles and bows are rarely good choices.

I really can't think of a time when you'd need her 3 for the damage. Even at super high levels, her ult's damage output (particularly with slide attacks) is crazy. You can throw out a 3 once in a while for some CC for your non-invincible allies, and it's nice for that, but like I said her weakness is utility and that weakness is usually not a problem with actual team comps with actual CC frames.

Don't know, but it's upsetting how DE lazily nerfs frames for performance boosts rather than doing minor reworks instead.

Like, they could easily have a single variable per enemy counting how many spores are on it and doing damage based on that, and just limit the number of spores that show up visually to, say, 3. Saryn's my favorite frame so it's sad that she's mediocre.

Also I think AoEs shouldn't affect spores. It's really dumb that a huge portion of the viable weapon pool wrecks spores in an AoE so Saryn's damage is heavily nerfed. Sure, Saryn players can avoid it by bringing hitscan, but allies can pop spores too. Precision aiming at spores is fun and she has her 3 specifically for popping with melee, so it'd be much better if she had to use those options instead of spamming slam attack.

She does have a package that includes invis and a 2x max damage buff, which feel like her only two good skills, as CC and damage even with 2x is poorer than just shooting the shit out of everything. Not only that, but 2 of the main things that make them money, Plat sales and Prime Access, are so inaccessible or unnecessary for most players that I think they should really rethink their strategy. I guess that's what kills me, because again like the rest of the game they're alluding to cool things or conceptual structures, but they've changed direction so many times and failed to fill it in with meaningful content that it just feels really incoherent and comes off like the cheapest watery sci-fi possible - like they finally fucking did SOMETHING with the void towers in terms of relating their origin, nature, or use to something the player can experience directly (beyond that one lotus voiceover on void exterms they added a while back), but it's still cheap and disconnected with no impact and won't be revisited or expounded in any meaningful way for a long time (if ever)

The number of enemies trapped by Bastille scales off of strength, so you need everything really on him. His Repelling Bastille augment makes it so enemies outside of Bastille can't enter, and so Strength isn't needed on it. Vortex doesn't have a cap on trapped enemies, but it's generally less useful than Bastille. Shooting things with punch through or meleeing into a vortex is fun.
