Cordials can and do sell, but usually only see them being sold in big quantities once a week or so. A stack of 99 usually lasts a fair while.
And then there was always some lalafell jew undercutting me at every turn.
Then again, its not as though I NEED to craft cordials anymore. I was mainly using them as something relatively easy to gather the materials for and craft en masse that'd sell to grind out the achievement for 3000 41-50 alchemy crafts.

I would say yes. With how prolific grinding A1S has become, you can use GSM desynth on all the accessories that you get your hands on from clearing it, and then use the tokens you get from each farm to grab and desynth more 210 accessories.

FUCK someone told me you could level to 50 using just the MSQ but they fucking LIED. Thank god I'm a WAR for instant duty finder queues but I was not expecting to hit such a wall when I got to the late 30's. This is my first time playing and the sudden halt of exp caught me off guard.

1- For a new player? No, it's not anywhere near, the "dead game" comments come from level cap players who've been playing for months and have cleared all the endgame content available, which is never much desu
2- Sending tells and joining FCs, that's it afaik
3- For most jobs things get interesting at level 30 but one could argue that it doesn't happen until level 50, which is quite a bit of time
4- Pugilist and Rogue are the most fun early on because of the amount of skills you have available. Thaumaturge and Lancer are by far the worst 2 at the begining but they get really fun at level cap
If you have enough patience just pick whatever, all of them are fun and deep at level cap

It's not dead, although we're at the end of a content cycle before an expansion right now so there's not too many people playing. There's a couple NA servers that are high pop and a few more that are mid-pop. You will likely have to pay for a transfer to get onto the high pop servers because they lock servers for new character creation when there's a certain number of people online. That limitation doesn't apply to transfers though.

I think the trial will let you get to level 30 or something like that. You can do most things in-game though. It's probably enough to know whether you want to play more or not, but the game plays very differently at level 50, and then changes again at 60. I find combat gets more interesting in the mid/late 40s, but some jobs play very differently at 60 and are a lot more fun imo.

You can wait for the expansion and see if Red Mage offers what you're looking for, I am guessing it won't though. I haven't seen any of the vids for it in a while so I can't remember what skills they demo'd for it. The game lets you level every class on a single character, so feel free to just experiment with stuff until you find something you like. I like playing ranged dps in other games, but enjoy healing the most in this one.

Black mage is the most generic caster of any MMO and the depth comes from learning the fights and optimizing your movement so you can get as many casts as possible, skill ceiling is quite high
Bard at level cap is another caster with shorter casts times and not as dependant of turreting as BLM. I find it very awfully optimized cause of 2.0 mechanics that weren't balanced for 3.0 and the introduced cast times for skills, but it's quite fun
Summoner is WoW's warlock from Cataclysm but with a shitty awful unresponsive boring pet

Black Mage is a turret class with big nukes. It's got a very simple rotation and imo it's easy to get basic competency with, but there's a lot of optimization that goes into it at the high end of things. Summoner is DoTs with lots of AoE and a pet. I think it's easier than Black Mage despite having a lot of buttons, but imo it's less fun. Both casters were sorta unfashionable in the raiding meta this tier, but they can deal a tremendous amount of damage in the right hands.

I've never played bard so I can't give you any opinions on how it plays at max level. I mean I leveled it for a cross class skill for BLM and didn't like it, but I only got it to level 34. It's highly sought after for raiding and performs well in the current crop of stuff though.
