Cloud's OSB is standard. That means it's good, but can be overshadowed by the BSB. This is particularly true in Cloud's case because he has one of the best BSBs in the entire game, his BSB2. But it makes for a powerful sword and with two of them it'll provide good stats.

OK BSB, jesus we've answered this a million times. It provides boosts, it's one of the best in the game, but in order to fully utilize it you need to have the resources to dive OK. Other anons have described this relic better than me in the last thread.

The best relic there is Y'sh's BSB, one of the best healing BSBs in the game. Cloud and Squall have standard OSBs. Lightning's OSB stinks but it'll make for a good sword. Overall a very good pull, now you won't have to worry about healing which is very fortunate for a new player.

What are some must have abilities in RK? I have no idea which I should be making.

IX had the best weapons and equipment system. No game has come close to giving each piece of equipment such uniqueness. Having to search, steal, synth and buy weapon and armour to learn all the abilities was incredibly rewarding. It was similar in FFT.

What is your favourite equipment system?

Sorry, this was longer than I anticipated.

The problem is that as a new player, you won't get the benefit out of some of that stuff immediately. OK is tough to use because of his garbage stats until extreme high levels, and the fact that you have to dive him to get decent skill sets. He can still do decent damage without skills for a little while with his burst commands, but it'd be hard to refill after the first use. So you'd want to use him eventually, but maybe not right away. Ramza's shout is enough of an attack boost, and it gives you a native hastega which means you have more options.

For your healers, Aerith's BSB is sort of nice for low hones in the early game, but Vanille's abilty restore can be good for that too. I'd probably lean towards the burst, though.

You are also probably better on with physcial for a while until OK can get up to speed. I'd rather let people that have the stuff comment on the other BSB qualities, but Cecil's BSB is sort of outdated. It comes with a EnHoly, so it can do a lot of damage after the second use, but you might want to look at the other stuff instead. Cecil can be pretty nice with lifesiphon if you need an extra white magic abilty like a prot/shell and don't want to carry another white mage, though.

She has two sources of enThunder, which normalize the OSB output AND Etro's armor supplies additional thunder boost.

Gilgamesh's is the worst OSB in the game iirc, not just because it's only non-elemental, but because his attack stat is low and wasting an SB charge for mediocre damage is ill advised, best stick with his BSB, Gaia/Saint Cross, magic lure etc instead of wasting a slot for lifesiphon.

Ramza is good, but you're going to need to stick him with Breakdown skills. Magic / Power Breakdown and then Full Break later.
Gilgamesh is probably doing the best he can be doing right now, you have Lifesiphon on him to go into his BSB which is an automatic Tauntaliate engine. I would suggest either Saint's Cross or Banishing Strike in the second spot as needed.
You're missing a healer. Papalymo is pure black magic and without healing you're not going to cut it; you mentioned having Porom / Rosa / Selphie / Relm SSBs, and since Ramza already gives Haste Porom doesn't synergize well. Probably the best pick of healer to start out with is one of Selphie or Rosa in your case, doesn't particularly matter which.

Keep that Onion Gauntlet. Orbfest is a good time to start the Onion Grind but he'll be shit for much of your early progression.

I assume Fang there has Rhomphaia, so she's pure DPS, which isn't bad. Rikku honestly has your most outdated relic so you could probably go for Cloud instead in that spot since you have his OSB. So you'll end up with a healer, a Tauntaliate knight, a support, and two DPS, which is a decent build to get you through a fair bit of mid-game.

Well, as long as we have wall, boostega/hastega, aoe break and some good damage and healing, we should be okay. Arise could be handy if we get unlucky. I think we should focus the strong lower left knight in the first wave, then keep the last weak alive if we need time to heal/reset buffs before wave 2. A lot of bosses prior to the U+ fights don't get over 200k so you could get them with a good OSB, especially if they have an element weakness. After that though, they'll start packing in more stats and gimmicks. I know a few of the higher fights crack that and have higher stats in general so buffing RWs like OK and Shout will benefit you more once you get higher up. Every single chainer goes well with Olive. Orlandeau, Eileen, Tidus, Agrias, Gilgamesh, Veritas of the Dark, and Onion Knight all pair with Olive. You also want access to a Lightning Imperil so either Lightning or Seven or Agrias since all of them boast a Lightning Imperil(CB, Elementalash, Enhanced FB).

Her direct competition is Randi and Cloud and DKC but none of those can equip guns. If you pull Cloud then Olive is bench material since Cloud comes with his own superior version of DH and has access to swords and greatswords which are the best weapons in the game.

For the tippest toppest endgame content, yeah you'll need to follow the meta. For a lot of the game you can use who you'd like though.

The way BE does characters is each one has a max rarity that dictates their overall stats and skills. You want higher rarities, which means some characters are left in the dust. In fact, most are. If you build a team out of who you like instead of who's useful, it'll probably be subpar.
