I already tried to translate http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ138052.html almost 2 years ago. I got it around 60% translated even posted some screens ITT but then my hard drive failed and I never attempted a project of that size again due to that traumatic experience.

One thing I noticed was that a lot of text I had translated didn't fit in the conversation boxes. I had to manually rewrite these to make them fit. Is there a more efficient way to do this?

What I do is translate a text at the beginning of the game without making a new line to know what the limit is and adjust my spreadsheets columns to have a rough idea what's the character limit.

For the character limits, there's no baked in wrapping in RPGMakerTrans since it can vary by game. So you run some simple tests and count how many chars come out on a line. In this game there's essentially two message types: dialogue or narration. They have different line lengths, but they're easy to tell apart since one starts with "Name:" and the other doesn't.

I use Notepad+ to set a vertical bar for whatever line type I'm working with (see pic), then get down to the dirty business (translating). Use what I send you and you'll catch on to the patterns.

I'm dropping my "names" file into the patch I upload too, which is my working doc for names, terms, character notes, regexes, and usually line lengths. Might be helpful.

The head grows proportionally much less than the rest of the body so a head on a kid is relatively larger than a head on an adult. Factor in that asians are small people who don't grow very much then the exaggeration isn't so extreme after all. (In know their heads aren't wider than their shoulders, yes.)

Also larger heads and faces makes it easier to convey emotions, which is often a challenge for artists.

No, it's purely for going for score as far as I can tell, there's nothing dependent on it.

Going through the game on hard mode applies a x10 bonus, but getting the normal ending instead of true divides it in half. I can't fathom getting the true ending on hard mode.

Some miscellaneous tips and tricks.

Save the tofu and it saves you 5k which is better than 900. I didn't pay attention to the fact the Kitsune makes sure if you want to sell it and got bit by this trap.

There are a shitton of fairy tips that are actually helpful, but can be useless if you get them later. You'll likely need to buy all their keys anyways as you need a lot of them so don't be hesitant.

The Key Apprentice gives a scene and an item that will let get the ability to kill one dragon for free so buy her services.

There's a key shop that infinitely buys and sells all types of keys later on. You honestly want to avoid using it.

Frankly, just try to plan out routes that require the least amount of keys.

Petria sells an infinite yellow key. Try not bothering with that floor 1 portal room until this. You can sell your normal yellow keys after getting it. In fact it might be worth rushing through her stock just to get this.

Getting the super item to beat the true final boss requires buying out the shop. The last item costs 16k, that infinite key I mentioned costs 5k.

Avoid using the Boutique until the Castle. You may be tempted early on, but you'll regret it if you don't.

Final castle area, it's in a partitioned off area full of treasure which the fairy on the floor pretty much tells you how to get to. This is floor 50+ by the way and you need to get past a dragon and an ice golem.

You honestly might be better off reloading to an earlier save.

I hope you've been making use of the 60 save slots. By the end I went over.

Also there's two places to use the Green Key, one is decent, one is piddly.

Myuu's house gives +15 shield, this is piddly. Rosary's house gives a stat boost and slightly better gold.

The Japanese can't write non-linear stories, so once you've beat the game there's nothing to get from the story.
The "gameplay" is as horrible as it was 20 years ago, because no competent gamedev will ever stoop as low as using RPGM.

Violane's second scene requires being at 50 HP or less.

You can't enter the dungeon at 0 HP so you need to have monsters weaken you just right.

If you pump your stats too high and clear too much stuff out, you might find this being impossible to clear.

Wolf v2.20 beta exes (from 2016-2017) REQUIRE hook codes, so you're basically SOL if your game uses one of them.
