>What do you think about mods that scale XP gain on kills with the difficulty? Apparently the base game doesn't do that.

Funny, since the Elder Scrolls games do that. Since their XP is based on skill usage, and higher difficulties have more dangerous enemies, so you have to use more attack skills to defeat them, and the increased damage they do ends up leveling your defense skills faster.

I'm not too much into the inquisition, but I could see the desire.

I don't think that his armor would work on a power armor frame. Or, rather, it wouldn't look like his armor if it was on one.

So basically I'd just make an armor similar to the marine set or the robot armor set.

(not that i'm a modder what the fuck do i know im struggling with a stupid banner)

You signed it away with the agreement.
>>
>>172025068
Doesn't make sense to reward the player with more XP in my opinion. What would it be the point then if you could keep up with the level of your enemies

I kinda like how FO4 handles that by spawning more Legendary enemies the harder the difficulty is (Regardless of how the other abysmal functionalities of the difficulty work, i just like that ONE aspect of it)

Secondary companion
freelance theft : everything/if worth it/rare things/never
freelance murder : anyone you dont like/iof insulted/in rare cases/never unprovoked

Secondary Settlement
Power Armour usage : yes/no

What else would you add to that list ?
Im not adding SPECIAL nor perks because i dont feel like it.

I purchased a Big Boy just to get rid of the fucking Legionarre Assassins

I remember when they'd take one .50 round to the head and die. And then Obsidian decided to make it so they had to be shot in the head 10+ times IN THE HEAD with an explosive or armor piercing round before they'd fucking DIE. So I just bought a Big Boy at that point and nuked them every time I saw them on the Horizon.

Its as if they were wearing "Coyote heads of .50bmg deflection +107"

Yeah I didn't like II either. I felt like I couldn't play exactly how I wanted to play. Now it seems like its all coming back. But it also feels like I kinda grew out of Warhammer as well. I like the art and stuff, but it feels like I haven't really played one satisfying 40k game since DoW.

I played Fire Warrior and Space Marine, and Space Marine was great, but it felt too fucking short. Then it ends on a cliffhanger and the company goes bankrupt. Feels bad man. I've also heard bad things from my friends about the recent Space Hulk game and various other games. I really want to see stuff with giant battles going on, Titans, all that. DoW 3 seems close enough, but I've got my reservations, considering how hit and miss 40k games are.

I have question about New Vegas Honest Hearts DLC
I'm playing the game for the first time and just "finished" that DLC
every single NPC attacked me instantly, so I killed and sneaked my way to get the map and then return
then the DLC ending was displayed and apparently there was some kind of war between the clans that I was supposed to resolve (and did by an accident, one of the NPCs I killed was a leader)
what the fuck was I supposed to do to talk with them? they always attacked first, even if I tried wearing their uniforms
I'm really fucking confused

What's their motivation? Are they selfish or altruistic? Which faction did they join and why? Did they have any romantic relationships? Who is their best friend? Which companion did they travel the most with?

Aurora ?
Aurora is a hard case - she is an escaped slave from a Raiders base south of Boston.
Being the last one of her village, she is properly paranoid and focused on her own survival but wouldn't turn down anyone needing help or aid.
All she has on her is stuff she managed to take from the last raider she had to stab to get out - his own knife and a pip-boy.
And she is stranded on a boat waaaay of the shore.
She will focus on companions, factions and everything else after she makes it sure she will survive next couple of days.

I realized last time that junk that everyone should be collecting is lots and lots of cigarettes. Sinclair's machines give you a decent amount of chips for them. I was loaded before I even got to the casino.

The DLC conveniently puts some of the crafting combinations in certain areas. Scalpels, forceps, syringes and tubes for Doctor Bags, and Cram, Instamash, P&B and lunch boxes for Caravan Lunch food items. For example the abandoned diner has all the items for that literally standing in a row next to one another.

Also I ended up selling shitloads of useless stuff to the ancient holo shopkeepers and finished the DLC with 14000 pre-war money when I returned my chips at the casino. It has taken me 2 months of ingame time and I still have 300 bills left. It's a surprisingly powerful currency.

I don't understand why people assume that being a lawyer suggests either zero military experience or zero weapons training/anything else.

Being a lawyer is an occupation.

Being a soldier doesn't make you a superman.

It's an EASY explanation as to why your character knows how to do horrifying acts of physical violence on others, but it's far from the only one and it does tend to make you feel pigeonholed.

Cops can become lawyers (some do when they realize it pays better and they get shot at less often) -- hell, Nora could have gotten training from Nate of all people who may just have been a half-crazy survivalist/ militia type after his time in the war.

The possibilities are endless.

The ONE problem with making Nora a lawyer is that it never affects gameplay in any way.

History of active duty should have given Nate an interesting starting perk, and Nora should have had one for being a lawyer.

PS, the canon hero of the very first Fallout was a lawyer, it's a reference, so get over it guys.

Actually there exists recorded dialogue and in-game text suggesting that you would have been given a choice originally as to whether Nate would be the lawyer and Nora the soldier right at the start of the game, but it became difficult to make it "work" with the narrated intro leading to scene in the background so it got scrapped.

There is actually a mod that re-activates all references to Nora being military from what I can remember.

Godrays ?
Ambient Occlusion ?
I already have AA and AF and V sync turned off.

>>
>>172075905
Turn Vsync back on, if you want the physics to work. FO4 doesn't have real AA, so you can turn that back on. AF has almost no performance impact if your GPU was made within the last decade. Godrays and shadows are huge performance hogs. AO is also very expensive, at least on older GPUs.

The best thing you can do for performance, besides this, is to reduce the resolution. You can also try Vsync at half refresh for smother, albeit lower, framerates.
>>
>>172076587
how do you reduce the resolution without getting the game to show up on only part of your screen?

Untick "Windowed Mode" to run in full screen. Or, reduce your desktop resolution.

You might have to do the later, because FO4 tends to have terrible micro-stutter in full screen.

Buff, how many corpses does your gunner farm produce? I have 30 cages right now, but I've yet to find more than 14 corpses when everything's over. Also you mentioned fertilizer and human meat, how? Opposite for me, I get terrible micro-stutter in fake fullscreen or windowed mode.

Also the problem with it showing up on only part of my screen (as if it was windowed) was happening with Windowed Mode ticked off. I also tried turning it off via the ini, same problem. I guess lowering my desktop resolution is the only solution then.

It looks like ass. I didn't think I'd ever make a big one, so it's a very cramped concrete box. I had to put a roof from the concrete set all over it because corpses kept jumping out. There's a second floor, right above the bottom lines of cages so that gunners leaving the top cages are above the bottom one, and they can all die in one big nuka-nuke explosion.

honestly guys unless you have an ancient computer and are trying to force FO4 to run, changing basic in game options won't help the stutters. its mostly people with slow HDDs, too many cells loading up, the fact stuff like shadows/grass gets rendered for 100 miles, also it might be a bug with gamepad enabled, and if you have nvidia's shareshit on, its definitely that.

use the custom launcher and cut down on lods, cloud density and gridstoload, etc. most of the things that really help won't even be visually noticeable.

Not much because, except for NPC outfits, The Strip and Hoover Dam, they mostly reuse existing assets. Pic related is Enclave soldier concept art from Fo3, note the strong similarities to the Desert Rangers which feature prominently in NV.

Bethesda did the same thing when they made Fo4. Pretty much all the BoS stuff are taken from their Enclave concepts too, especially Maxson (who is what General Autumn was originally supposed to be).

I take it you've never flipped through the Fo3 concept art book. Adam Adamowicz's Enclave concepts were way cooler than what we got ingame. A really good modmaker with a proper team would take the opportunity to write Augustus Autumn as having died during the action on Project Purity with this as a setup for a new CO. Since you only ever really meet two people in the Enclave that are actual characters, it's easy enough to introduce new "named" NPC's and follow such a storyline, the problem of course is anyone having the desire to see it through along with the technical ability to basically create a parallel campaign to Broken Steel (and with a name like Broken Steel, it honestly seems like that DLC should have had this as an option in the first place).

The Brotherhood never once feels like anything other than the aggressor in that DLC, even with Liberty Prime getting junked -- so it never made much sense to me for them to call it that. You would have expected something far more dramatic like the Pentagon getting destroyed from the very START, forcing the Brotherhood to regroup from what few forces were away from their core base, the player re-organizing their scattered and shattered chapter and potentially reuniting them with the Outcasts to deal with the much more serious Enclave threat.

Instead the whole thing just felt... like wasted opportunity, for both sides of the conflict. Never have I been so disappointed by a story-driven DLC and that's including Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta.

About all I know how to do in 3ds is cut meshes up and patch up holes with vertex editing.

I kinda like how in Fallout they portray something that is actually futuristic, in that it is advanced tech developed later on in the setting than the other tech, by making it look like what people in the 70s though the future would look like, compared to the rest of Fallout which is what people in the 50s thought it would look like.

It's still retro-future, but it's a later on retro-future.

The technology has existed since GTA 3 came out back in 2001, and since the, all they have done to it is increased the graphics.

Every single GTA city feels artificial, and lifeless, because of how obviously fake everything is.

I would much rather have small towns where I can pick up every fork, go into every house, and interact with every NPC on at least some level, then big sprawling cities where I cannot.

The former feels far more real then the latter

There was no "burden of proof" issue, he said he saw all of the claims made and he swept them aside for reasons of his own.

>>Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
The plot and design of a game is not extraordinary.
Changes like this can be made at the flip of a dime, and they've done it before. FO4 originally had a male protagonist and now allows you the choice between male and female.
Shit's not as deep as you want it to be.

>I'm not even the same person.
>I've seen the zero evidence that you've presented.
The devil is in the details. Playing Fallout 3 would provide you several moments where it would make infinitely more sense had the game taken place much closer to the dropping of the bombs.

The main problem, and it's a problem with all three modern Fallout games(Less so New Vegas, though it's not exempt), is that two hundred years is the difference between the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Apollo 13 launch, yet these people are living in scraphouses using salvaged tin and wood, with actual buildings being largely untouched and unexplored - you can still find prewar skeletons lying around with valuable scrap littering the place.

The most progress made in FO3 is Rivet City, and they did barely anything to modify it. The rest of the settlements are essentially jokes(The Republic of Dave) or otherwise heavily themed(Megaton is a fucking joke and should be treated as such, so I won't touch it) so there's nothing else to use as an example.
New Vegas has the excuse of there being a lack of still-standing buildings as well as a less-than-thriving-but-still-demanding economy pushed by the NCR that prevents most improvements within their jurisdiction, but there's still a huge lack of civilization apart from barely a handful of small towns.

As brought up at least once in New Vegas. Only idiots live in 200 year old pre-war buildings. Lack of maintenance would make them unstable, and prone to collapse. You would literally be better off tearing them down and building something new over them.

>as well as vault dwellers with up-to-date education.
This would be a valid argument is any vaults outside of the West Coast had done that. They did not.

90% of the Vaults killed their inhabitants. Only Vault 101, and 81, survived intact over 200 years, and V81 only opened its doors a few years ago.

Not to mention Vault education is only basic education, since Vault Tec wouldn't want them to figure out they were being experimented on.

Vault denizens would have no special knowledge or architecture or building, as they would have no need for it in the Vault.

>Only idiots live in 200 year old pre-war buildings.
People do live in pre-war buildings in the Fallout games, though, and considering they survived a nuclear blast it wouldn't take much to repair any damages that compromise their integrity.

>Lack of maintenance would make them unstable, and prone to collapse.
After 200 years they likely would have if the damage was severe enough. Houses seem to have been compromised fairly heavily, yet people live in them, collapsed ceilings and all.

>You would literally be better off tearing them down and building something new over them.
No arguments there.

>90% of the Vaults killed their inhabitants. Only Vault 101, and 81, survived intact over 200 years, and V81 only opened its doors a few years ago.
There were more vaults that had survived, though many of them were a victim of Vault-Tec or outside forces that led to their death.

>Not to mention Vault education is only basic education, since Vault Tec wouldn't want them to figure out they were being experimented on.
>Vault denizens would have no special knowledge or architecture or building, as they would have no need for it in the Vault.
Basic sciences and handiwork can be expanded upon, and research can be done. How do you think wastelanders build their houses if held to the same standard?
I did also completely forget the existence of ghouls, who may or may not have an impact, though that can be ignored.
>>
>>172110939
>There were more vaults that had survived, though many of them were a victim of Vault-Tec or outside forces that led to their death.
That is the very definition of not surviving.

>How do you think wastelanders build their houses if held to the same standard?
They don't.

Are you really so stupid to consider model reuse due to it being a game as to be some canon lore that there is a wastelander standard for wooden shack building?
>>
>>172110939
>There were more vaults that had survived, though many of them were a victim of Vault-Tec or outside forces that led to their death.
I'm starting to wonder was it that just directory that vault tec that killed all those people.

Then i thought it about it with that molerat vault and curie, they could of made a lot of money as they had willing subjects to experiment upon.

still it's strange that their HQ didn't have a vault, neither that all vault tech employees could have spots in vaults.
>>
>>172110918
I don't care if it makes sense or not, it added good vertical gameplay where you could boost yourself on elevated terrain and flank enemy.

>still it's strange that their HQ didn't have a vault, neither that all vault tech employees could have spots in vaults.
Not all of Vault-Tec was in on the experiment.

Only the top CEOs and scientists were in the know, and they all had thier own shelters/Enclave retreat points since they were enough in the know to know that going into a Vault was dumb.

You seem to be delbiratly taking my words out of context.

That statement was made in reference to the false idea that vault dwellers would somehow be able to build something other then metal and wooden shacks.

>They do. They built an entire city around an unexploded nuclear bomb.
Which has nothing to do with the idea that there is some wasteland standard for a metal shack...
>>
>>172111316
I can't even tell what your argument is anymore. I'm trying to say that, over the course of two hundred years, people should be able to gradually understand how to build an actual house not made from tin and bedsheets or at least repair standing houses to working order.

There are wastelanders and vault dwellers who repair and reprogram robots, yet building a house is somehow rationally beyond the entire population of either.
>>
>>172111512
>people should be able to gradually understand how to build an actual house not made from tin and bedsheets or at least repair standing houses to working order.
That would require resources and heavy machinery they do not have.

And any 200 year old building would be beyond saving, and really, just a matter of time before it collapsed.

>There are wastelanders and vault dwellers who repair and reprogram robots,
Both of those things would be fairly easy.

All robots of the same type would share the same parts, thus making fixing them with spare parts from the many non fucntional robots easy.

And reprogramming them wouldn't be that difficult due to how utterly basic their coding is.

Not to mention, neither of these things require the same level of machery as would be needed to make an actual house.

Hell, even in Shady Sands, the home of the NCR, their new buildings are literally just adobe houses that only stay together due to a lack of rain in the region.

Even the most technological advanced post-war faction outside of the BoS still live in metal shacks, mud houses, and squats in crumbling pre-war ruins.
>>

There's actually a lot of flash flooding in the Mojave, even away from the river.
I'm not sure if you're just going by what you see in-game at this point, but that's all I can assume.

>Even the most technological advanced post-war faction outside of the BoS still live in metal shacks, mud houses, and squats in crumbling pre-war ruins.

>Which is evidence towards the game not originally being intended to be set 200 years after the bombs drop.
Not at all.

All it is evidence of is the game being based on 1950's scifi b movie tropes which often depict the world as destroyed even hundreds, even thousands, of years after a nuclear war.

People complain because opening to F4 is half assed.
Its too short and too convinient for player to care about them when games requires you to CARE about Nora/nate dying and Shaun kidnapping.

Bethesda, in their typical fashion half assed it because it would have to either one of two things :

Longer, with more time spent before the war like in that concept art. Pregnant wife, riots, some gameplay elements ( modding weapons as a hobby for Nate for tutorial ? building things around the house ? ), maybe some cutscene with veteran buddy of yours who got drafted ? There should be a this coming storm feeling with it, threat of nuclear war on the horizon, reports on tv of mysteroius cults killing themselves because of the looming apocalypse, propaganda etc.
OR
Just let me make my character as a sheet like in F1/2 and wake me up inside the vault and see some women getting killed and kid kidnapped. Fact that the same fuckers who kidnapped that kid refer to me as backup would justify going after them but also lack of emotional attachment would justify sidestepping the plot for 60 hours in favour of rebuilding settlements and helping commonwealth citizens.
Basically what Start Me Up mod does.

>Its too short and too convinient for player to care about them when games requires you to CARE about Nora/nate dying and Shaun kidnapping.
This is a fundamentally flawed argument as many books, movies, TV shows, and games, open with the main character's friends/family getting killed or attacked, and the MC going off the get revenge, before we, the player, spends any significant amount of time with them.

The point of these narratives is the exact same as Fallout 4's, you are not supposed to care about the character specifically, but rather, feel empathy for the situation they are in.

This idea that you can't care about that in something like Fallout 4 becuase it doesn't give you 4 hours to fuck around with the family flies in the face of some of the oldest fundamentals of story telling, and is usually only perpetuated by edge lords who think they are cool for saying they don't care for anyone but themselves.
>>
>>172114276
Yeah, I don't mind a long lead-in if you can actually do something or interact with the world. Having weapon mod and settlement placement tutorials would be great set in the idyllic pre-war times, as you said hobbyist shit with their guns (or mending/improving an outfit), and something like putting a patio and grill in the backyard for a baby shower or something. Get more connection between the player and the family they take the role of, and it also fleshes out Sanctuary Hills as a location.
>>
>>172113337
You can use fertilizer to nake jet, explosives, or ammo.
>>
>>172114557
Yeah, but it matters when the game is a sandbox, and constantly distracting you with endless side-quests. You as a player have to really care to continue the plotline, and the game as it is barely gives you any reason to care.

They made a shit attempt at getting you to enjoy the pre war surroundings, spouse included, that it's an underwhelming drag for subsequent viewings and to a lesser extent the very first viewing depending on expectations.
You barely get your feet wet before the bomb drops and the only meaningful attachment you have to your spouse is the amount of time spent into decorating a frozen corpse since you don't even get to understand their attitude or mannerisms. Your spouse has no character. YOU have no character despite your very recent history and voice and thought process being decided for you.

Alright! Best way to introduce the enclave with minimum effort would be find a remote shipyard like a canning plant up on the coast and place a terminal within behind some secret wall that calls a mini submarine to that location.

you step inside and travel to the enclaves underwater city, after unlocking the underwater shipyards and pumping the area clean allowing access to the main city your greeted by a enclave security and escorted to a cell to be interrogated by security further for information your interrogation is cut short and your released as a sign of good will to "talk"

he asks you many questions about the wasteland and settlements within it, so on..

you'll be given many options to resist or help and even integrate into the enclave.

Entering into what appears to be an abandoned subway tunnel adjacent Big John's Salvage, Nate accesses a secret wing that conceals a train terminal for Naval Base Sims, which is located fifty miles offshore.

Upon arrival, he finds that NBS is actually a fully-functioning underwater city, whose main goal is producing submarines for the US Navy. Everyone there seems to think life on the surface is fine. After having his papers stamped by a pale (but otherwise friendly) desk clerk he's allowed in and depending on the perks he has available can seek certain forms of employment. If he has no perks (or just doesn't care), he reports to a nondescript warehouse to work for a shady person named Slim (whose actually fat), who seems to have an agenda of his own.

While that's a better idea, having their ID read and redirected to a place of work. It would be better to have this submarine construct base to be used as a fallout shelter by the enclave rather than thinking life is still all jolly and good.

further more they should have some sort of conntection to the previous enclave even if it's a communication terminal saying offline for oil rig, etc.. then throw in a few more locations in random places.

Do we have any lore of where the Legion got it's gold and silver from, or are we just supposed to assume that there are tons of mines in Legion lands and a mint somewhere? I mean, the amount is really ludicrous, considering how much drops from troops, and how many coins the casinos seem to have to convert from caps especially.

It almost makes them the most attractive option for a goldbug character, if it wasn't so easy to get the coins through fighting and gambling, and the NCR wasn't so easy to fleece and keep fleecing for a lifetime.

Looking forwards to using the mod to melt down 100 gold coins to a dead money bullion bar. Along with Run the Lucky 38, I'm going to fucking own Vegas, and the Mojave.

Yeah, I mean what you ahd converts to 2000 gold coins, or twenty gold bars using said mod. Before even hitting Vegas, that is insane.

That said, FO4 took any value out of owning anything but your best weapons and crafting stuff. Hoarding wealth just doesn't feel right if no one gives a shit about anything.

You CAN game NV, but if you spend caps on repairs, have hardcore on and eat and drink at stops, and actually spend, your savings don't get so silly. Especially if you don't carry and sell any and all loot.

>>172123223

That wouldn't provide nearly enough. Look at it this way; at the height of the British empire, soldiers were paid in shillings and alcohol, monthly, and often times pay was late or occasionally not delivered at all. This was with banks backing them, and how the banks ended up effectively owning most of Europe.

I find it hard to believe that an army of the Legion's size gives all it's soldiers silver and gold coins out of metled down pre-war jewelery. I mean, sure, the silver and gold is likely heavily cut down with other metals and not .999, but the backing still has to be insane. Especially for each gold coin to be worth 100 caps. Just look at the comparison with NCR bucks which are no longer gold backed.

If it wasn't for game mechanics, Legion money is the most efficent and 'safe' way of holding your wealth. Five Legion (gold) coins would translate to a bag of 500 bottlecaps that would be getting difficult to carry around without a Brahmin, and would be impossible to conceal.

So I guess the game dicks you over when it comes to settlements producing things like water and food. The way I understand it, if you have aid items in your workshop, the settlement won't produce anymore. Is there any way to automatically have those items taken out of the workshop? Only thing I can see is the vacuum hopper but that is both extremely cumbersome and won't fit certain places and extracts each and every item without allowing you to select only aid items or something.
>>
>>172126136
It's not just jewelry though, that was just an example. The Legion is holding quite a bit of land, so it would be reasonable to assume that they also captured some banks and other places which have stockpiles of valuable metal.

What makes less sense than this however, is that the entire wasteland switched to using bottlecaps, because they are not backed by any goods and are worthless on their own. They can also easily be counterfeited (there even was a quest in NV about it). At least gold can still be used for its physical properties (and also looks nicer).

>That wouldn't provide nearly enough. >No idea what this has to do with anything. That has nothing to do with gold itself. Would've been the same if the Brits used bottlecaps instead.

My point is that real world armies have struggled to pay their men, even using fiat currencies. So a Legionaire having a pocket of silver and an officer a pocket of gold in a post-apocolyptic army stretches my disbelief, and that's before the casinos having literally unlimited quantities of these precious coins.

That said, I shrug and keep playign when my player has enough caps on him to weigh down a train fo Brahmin, so what do I know.

>What makes less sense than this however, is that the entire wasteland switched to using bottlecaps, because they are not backed by any goods and are worthless on their own. Aren't they backed by the NCR's 'proposed' worth/water supplies after their gold got destroyed by the Brotherhood? NCR money is basically 'it really has this value, wink wink' and peole went back to the traditonally water-backed caps while still generally trading with the NCR and working within it's econemy, thus giving them a 'value'. It's very wishy washy, but I can sort of seeing what they were going for if I squint.

>The Legion is holding quite a bit of land, so it would be reasonable to assume that they also captured some banks and other places which have stockpiles of valuable metal.

That, or despite slavery being supposedly not being as we see it out East, they have a ton of mines filled with poor workers.

Actually Shoddycast did a pretty good explanation of why bottlecaps are good at being money, it's a good video so go look it up but I'll break down the basics.

Bottlecaps combine a few of the useful properties gold had in the ancient world.
>Plentiful enough to be commonly used, not so plentiful as to be worthless
>Hard to counterfit
>Rare enough to find that inflation is avoided, bottlecap numbers are fairly constant everywhere
>Good size/weight to be carried around
>Won't corrode away to nothing

True it's a fiat currency that has no inherent value, but in the ancient world gold had no inherent value beyond looking pretty if you're into that sort of thing, it was functionally useless until the advent of modern technology, but out of every element on the periodic table had all the best traits to make it widespread coin currency.

That would require there to be a stable enough society for there to be a recognized banking system. Even in early America you had different banks or different states all printing and minting different money.

Good points overall. Though just one thing, if a currency is backed by something it is not by definition a fiat currency. Fiat currency is money that represents nothing, has no inherent value, but by social contract we all agree on it as a unit of exchange.

If you frame it properly the Institute can easily be swayed. You're already the supreme leader, and Gen 3 Synths are hated by half of the Institute.
If you come at them with the right narrative they'll be loving you in no time.

>Gen 3 Synths were a mistake. They are too close to humans, and notoriously prone to failure. We have suceeded so much in replicating the human body that some of our creations actually believe they're human. Not only that, there are even other people, on the surface, who would risk their lives for these machines.
>The Gen 3 program has no doubt given us important tools for operating on the surface. However, their success in other areas is questionable at best. No doubt every Gen 3 operating at the Institute could be replaced by a Gen 2 with no loss.
>Therefore, I would like to announce that the Gen 3 program will be scaled back and focused much more on surface operations rather than internal affairs. Furthermore, Gen 3 Synths already operating in the Institute may be repurposed for scientific research rather than menial labor.

Proceed to scale back Gen 3 production.
Start a propaganda campaing that kills the "Mankind Redefined" bullshit and focuses on being the "Best Hope for Humanity".
Actually start helping people on the surface.
Stop being shady as shit and replacing people.
Get Gen 3s to be the scientists they have the capactity to be.
Use Gen 2s to helping the surface.
Use Gen 3s for research and as ambassadors to the surface.

>There's that guy, plus there's people complaining about their "faultiness" all the time
You seem mistaken, they complain about the Gen 1/2s breaking down all the time. And commend the Gen 3's for not having such problems.

>Plus the fact that everyone hates the SRB, which would stop existing (rather would be repurposed) if the Gen 3 program is drastically changed.
NA, the SRB would still be The Institute's secret police spying on all the other departments and shit even without the synths.

Everyone would still hate them for the same reason people hate cops.

>Also most people don't even know why the fuck they're even making Gen 3s and merely spout their propaganda one liners without thought.
This is also false.

The only person to express any doubt on the synth program is again, the janitor, who questions how synths can redefine mankind if they don't consider them people. But even he doesn't express any lack of knowledge on why synths are being made.

>See: Alan Binet's conversation when you first enter Robotics.
That literally has nothing to do with the argument you presented about people not knowing why synths are being made.

All Alan Binet's conversation does is show that he thinks they might be dreaming, and what philosophical questions that might raise.

>how to get synths to replace every human in the institute and eventually destroy humanity: the post
>>
>>172143357
That is a line about older gen phaseout, but the first converstation you hear when you enter the Institute is Allie Filmore and some unnamed scientist talking about how the older models are sturdy and have lasted long past their due date.
Gen 2s are very reliable and do not need replacing.

The SRB is only in people's business because Synths keep escaping. No more Synth escapes = no more secret visits from the SRB. It would still exist for a aboveground operations management, of course.

It's clear that they're very heavy on propaganda and their "Mankind Redefined" message. It's all people talk about. And still, the conversation about how they can redefine makind is shut down by "That's a question better left for our friends at the Robotics Division" (I don't know why you're saying he's a janitor, every human in the Institute is a scientist).

When you get to Robotics though, the very first conversation you hear is a man questioning Synth's humanity. Finally, he's going to tell you how synths are going to redefine mankind, this is what the Institute is all about.
But nope, he too is shut down by a one liner: "We're not philosophers, we're scientists".
And then he says "I suppose you're right".

And that's it. Even Robotics, the division responsible for making Gen 3s, can't justify why Synths are being made to perfectly replicate man. Even they can't answer how Synths "Redefine Mankind".

My point is, most people in the Institute could be easily convinced to phase-out the Gen 3s and bring back the Gen 2s in full force.
>>
>make a perk to eat humans
>everytime you eat someone, you get hit with a debuff and cant consume any other food

Fuck me running, is there a way to ditch Dark Cravings ?
>>
>>172144264
Nah, that's realistically what would happen in the Railroad ending of the game. The Synths revolt against the Scientists, but logically, they would never blow up the Institute, they would just take it over.

In my version the Institute drastically reduces Gen 3 production, probably stoping it completely for a long time. Currently there are more Synths than Scientists in the Institute and this is very dangerous.

Instead I propose keeping a small number of Gen 3s in operation, and instead of being treated like robot slaves, they would be treated like second class scientists. Bad, but much better than before. Small numbers and doing meaningful work would no doubt kill any thoughts of escape or revolution.

Eventually the Scientists would have to acknowledge that Gen 3s are no different than humans. As Director, I have the tools to change public opinion, given enough time.
>>
>>172144272
>but the first converstation you hear when you enter the Institute is Allie Filmore and some unnamed scientist talking about how the older models are sturdy and have lasted long past their due date.
Actually, Allie Filmore is complaining about them breaking down all the time, and the other scientists working with her mentions they have lasted long past their due date.

It isn't that they are reliable, they aren't, its a surprise over them lasting so long while being so shitty.

>The SRB is only in people's business because Synths keep escaping.
Not really. Even if synths weren't escaping the SRB would just be renamed, and still be in people's shit trying to find out if they are loyal to The Institute or not.

>It's clear that they're very heavy on propaganda and their "Mankind Redefined" message
I never said they aren't. I said they don't not know why synths are being made.

>(I don't know why you're saying he's a janitor, every human in the Institute is a scientist).
Because he himself describes himself as the fucking maintenance man and janitor.

Being a scientists does not mean one is not also a janitor.

> Finally, he's going to tell you how synths are going to redefine mankind
Uhh no. He had no plans to tell you anyhting you suggested.

Synths are redefining humanity by being the perfect workforce that never breaks down, never ages, doesn't need sleep, food, or water, and has near human intelligence(emphasis on near), which would allow them to effeictvely adapt to any workplace situation without the need for human oversight(unlike the protectors, mr handy bot, and other pre-war robots that constantly get caught in logic loops and shit) thus freeing mankind from the burden of having to do work, allowing them to spend 100% of their free time better themselves through study.

>Even Robotics can't justify why

Scientist: Almost done. Just need to tighten up this primary drive servo.
Allie: That's the third primary drive breakdown this month.
A: As far as I'm concerned, the phase-out on these older models can't come soon enough.
S: Oh, I don't know. Most of them have lasted long past their projected lifespans.
S: If you ask me, they were built pretty well.
A: I can't argue with that. Even so, I'm ready to see the full gen-3 rollout.
S: There we go. All set. Unit, you can return to duty.
Gen 2: Thank you, ma'am.
A: Thanks again.
S: Of course.

It's clear that they're praising Gen 2 reliability, and Allie is just excited about less maintenance on Gen 3s (which have the much bigger problem of wanting to escape, but that's SRBs problem).

>still be in people's shit trying to find out if they are loyal to The Institute or not
Is there evidence supporting this? While the SRB does serve as a police force, they don't actively spy on anyone outside of Synth issues. Plus, as Director, you could just tell them not to?

Synths do need sleep, food and water (see: Dr Roslyn Chambers). They also have human intelligence. There is a line about Synth Shaun not aging, but I believe that it's just because he's a prototype.

Creating a slave class is not redefining mankind. Just build a bunch of Mr Handys and you're done. Fucking Curie cured every fucking disease in existance.

Also, Synths are only used for manual labor. Not one Synth is a scientist, not one Gen 3 couldn't be replaced by a Gen 2 and do the exact same job. Fully automating the workforce is not the Institute's goal, and is not redefining mankind.

Therefore, it'd be easy to convince them to phase out Gen 3s and refocus on actually helping people.

>Synths do need sleep, food and water (see: Dr Roslyn Chambers). They also have human intelligence. There is a line about Synth Shaun not aging, but I believe that it's just because he's a prototype.
This is literally what I just said.

So you are agreeing with me that you are wrong?

>Creating a slave class is not redefining mankind. Just build a bunch of Mr Handys and you're done. Fucking Curie cured every fucking disease in existance.
Except
A. My Handys constantly break down, need to be refueled, and are notorious for getting stuck in logical loops like Codsworth, Curie, and the Greygarden Robots did.
B. Curie did not cure all known disease, all she did was finish the work the humans scientists started by following the instructions they gave her before they did. She literally did nothing but move things around. All the actual science was done by humans.

>Also, Synths are only used for manual labor.
Because, as mentioned, that is what they are designed for.

>Not one Synth is a scientist
Because no synth outside of DiMA is smart enough for that, and that is so on purpose.

> not one Gen 3 couldn't be replaced by a Gen 2 and do the exact same job.
Which was never the point of Gen 3's, the pint was to do everything Gen 2's could do, without breaking down all the time and needing someone to watch over them.

>Fully automating the workforce is not the Institute's goal, and is not redefining mankind.
Mankind's whole existence has been built around needing to work, removing that need WOULD be redefining mankind, as it is something humanity has never had.

>Therefore, it'd be easy to convince them to phase out Gen 3s and refocus on actually helping people.
Which would be true if all of your arguments weren't wrong.

>While the SRB does serve as a police force, they don't actively spy on anyone outside of Synth issues.
Actually they do, Ayo is hated for constantly tapping into people's computers for whatever reason he wants.

>Synths do need sleep, food and water (see: Dr Roslyn Chambers).
No they do not, they can be programmed to believe they do, but they do not.

Synths do not age because of the FEV used in their creation, it is also what makes them immune to radiation

>They also have human intelligence.
wrong again

Player Default: Human synths? Really?
Shaun: Human-like synths. A great distinction.

Basically what
>>172147298
>>172147556
Said

-We know synths do not age
-We know they are immune to radiation
-We know they can't get fat, nor can they get skinny, they are forever stuck in the bodies they are created with
-Its been mentioned several times that synths do not need to sleep, and even one of the problems Danse was having, before he found out he was a synth, was an inability to sleep
-We also know that any self perceived old age from living many years can be mind wiped away, and they will go back to how they were mentally the day they were first made.

You just said they DON'T need sleep food and water:

I said they DO.
????????????

>>172147298
>Constantly break down and need to be refueled
>Except these 3 examples I just gave of robots that have operated for over 200 years with no maintenance
Yes they need human supervision, but that's a feature. Furthermore, so do Gen 3s. See: H2-22.

>Spend decades finishing the work of scientists
>Somehow did nothing but move things around
Right, those guys were so smart that they had planned for decades of experiments, breakthroughs and research developments and merely told Curie where to move the needles.

>No synth outside of DiMa is smart enough for that
>Who is Sturges

>The point was not to do the exact same as Gen 2s, it was to do the exat same as Gen 2s.
What? Also, they keep escaping all the time, and they only operate on Scientists commands (H2-22 again).

>They were built only for manual labor
>They are ending the need for work
Pick one.

>for whatever reason he wants
Still pretty sure it's only about the Synths, and if told to stop, he would, and you could just say it was all about the gen 3s and be done with that.

>>172147556
>can be programmed to believe they do
"A living synth is indistinguishable from a human by any medical test yet devised" - Dr Rosalyn Chambers, who dedicated her entire life to studying synths.
The age thing is unclear but only mentioned in relation to Synth Shaun.
They are NOT immune to radiation.
Why would you take Shaun at face value?

>>172147838
We only know that they can't get obese. It's never mentioned they don't need sleep, Synths do sleep, it's mentioned by Alan Binet when you enter Robotics that they even dream.
The mind wipe can also be used on normal people.

>Except these 3 examples I just gave of robots that have operated for over 200 years with no maintenance
My Handy bots are capable to repairing themselves to a limited degree so long as spare parts are present.

This has been lore since Fallout 1. That does not mean they don't break down.

>Furthermore, so do Gen 3s. See: H2-22.
That's because Gen 3's aren't perfect yet, which several people in The Institute state.

>Who is Sturges
Sturges, the guy who couldn't even hack a low level terminal?

>What? Also, they keep escaping all the time, and they only operate on Scientists commands (H2-22 again).
Actually they don't. According to Railraod records,in the last nearly 30 years, less then 50 out of the thousands of synths they have made have escaped. Even Ayo mentions that Shaun has never really cared about the synth escapee problem because its actually pretty rare.

Also no, H2-22 did not operate only on scientists commands. We are told by synths like H2, and Glory, that large numbers of synths are kept behind the walls of The Institute to constantly fix it, and that they never see the actual humans if ever.

>Pick one.
Those things are not contradictory you twit. Synth end the need for people to work by doing the work for them.

>Still pretty sure it's only about the Synths
It isn't.

>who dedicated her entire life to studying synths.
Actually, she has only spent the last few year studying synths.

No one has kept a synth alive in captivity for a long enough time to ever find out they don't age.

>They are NOT immune to radiation.
Except they are, and its even stated as such.

>Why would you take Shaun at face value?
Because i'm not a conspiracy theorist who just disregards anything that doesn't agree with my points... unlike some people.

>Synths do sleep
being able to sleep =/= they NEED to sleep.

Stop with this dumb as fuck fallacious argument.

>The mind wipe can also be used on normal people.
No it can't.

>Why can't Nick Valentine picklock novice lock but can hack and picklock master and expert terminals / locks?
Nick just TRIES to hack terminals because he is a robot.

He can fail at hacking and get locked out.

Being a synth doesn't give him some magic ability to always hack terminals.

Also, IIRC, Nick mentions picking locks sometimes as part of his job when you try to get into Kellogg's house, so he apparently can, hes just not very good at it
