Garcia will naturally max strength in basically every run, and also has a good skill growth (the same as Innes actually). Meanwhile he starts with 8 strength and 7 skill and with the support with his son and how easy early levels are even on hard there's no babying at all, just tearing through enemies and leveling up. He's absolutely perfect to frontload damage with the bravebow, and if you feed him one or two speedwings he'll even quad powerful enemies. Warrior caps are just better for bows than Snipers, and best thing is you can utilize trade equipping to give them something to hold on enemy phase.

They're all painfully easy since they're just all gimmick fights and don't require an actual 'strategy'.

My only real hope from all of this is that eventually I'll have all bases covered in terms of gimmick units and won't have to spend so much stamina pots leveling certain units anymore.

Hector is strong but he lacks the sheer utility of Marcus, along with the initial power that makes him the safety net of the first half of HHM. Even towards the end Hector really only outshines him against the morph bosses with legendary weapons and the dragon, both of which you can use the superior Athos for anyway.

What's better from an AI perspective; Melee unit with Draw Back or Ranged Unit with Draw Back?

My thought process is that with two draw back melee units and two range units on a team the AI would be smart enough to loop and make the opponent initiate. But with ranged unit it ensures that they are behind something.
