I coooould make every building from scratch using the 'dwarf' assets but honestly I actually quite like mixing different kinds of stone & wood architecture. I see dwarf holds as having a consistent superstructure, but individual properties will vary in architecture based on the wealth of their owners. But that's mostly convenient justification, so yeah.

Just for the record, Dark Age released a 2.0.1 that has much more historically accurate armors than previous versions but that aren't just darker recolors from vanilla VC armors, plus other things. I'd say it's much better now.

Almost done cleaning up the siege for Karaz-A-Karak. Walls are re-positioned, siege tower is considerably beef up to offer better protection for the units climbing the extremely long ladders, spaces at bottom of walls cleaned up and everything has been re-navmeshed.

Item rebalance. Remakes/adds new items/texture to look more historically accurate = Everything is covered in mud and shit.
Shields don't look like they're made of plastic.

There are still several things I do not like which I want to change.
New map icons are much more resource intensive than vanilla and don't look as good.
The UI dismisses alot of the original files from VC and the art in the books, and replaces it with much blander versions.

Some of these can be fixed with optional files, but others you would have to manually return to normal. I'm looking to figure out how to revert the UI changes Dark Age does on the Ini files.

Still got a shit-ton of sieges to do first. I'm not gonna promise I can do much about a lot of core gameplay, and in balance/economy changes I've focused on basically ignoring most early game (since they fucked freelancer anyway) and making it relatively easy to start with a fair sized army and go from there. The idea is to focus on fighting factions, or starting your own, and enjoying the shit out of bigass siege maps. As such, businesses, arenas and tournaments are lucrative as fuck. Aside from that, I want to rework and fix every single major siege, starting with the most important factions.

because if it did, then you could set it to be always visible like you can with the other quest bandits

The tower works! After this test (as attacker) I found the whole siege much more enjoyable to fight across, and after that I fixed a broken spawn (no more dudes inside walls) and have turned the main gate into a double-thick destructible door, will show navmesh in next pic.

I really hate how terrain is generated in warband. On hilly terrain it's entierly rng wether you get fucked by spawning in a ravine while the enemy spawns at the top of it, or you pretty much auto win by spawning on a really high hill. perhaps something like higher tactics in bannerlord lets you choose from a few maps/ deploy formations before battle or something.

Would be nice if it generated an infinite amount of terrain with a combat zone you could move in an out of so corner camping would be nonexistant. Pic related had a system like that where you could go outside of the combat zone forever in any direction but you couldn't take the flag outside of it (it was CTF focused) which allowed for interesting tactics. I have yet to see any strategy game do this.

The problem is that due to the limited scale of Warband maps (and battles), any less exaggerated terrain features just wouldn't be felt as much in the game. Gently sloping hills for example may make a difference in real life, but in the game it wouldn't slow down F1+F3 cavalry charges enough to actually make itself felt.

Hopefully Bannerlord improves on this with proper forests (which we're getting, judging by the screenshots), assorted clutter (fences, fields, etc.), and perhaps the ability to position yourself in different corners of larger battle maps (like the setup for sieges) prior to engaging.

Also consider that the initial impact of the charge isn't as important in M&B as it was in real life.
IRL you would have a moving wall of armoured horsemen charging your position and slamming into your troops with lances braced, impaling many, trampling others (this especially is poorly reflected in M&B), and then either press through the ranks or maneuver around.

A cavalry charge in M&B is much more disordered, your knights might not even all use their lances unless you tell them to. They'd kill a good amount of troops in the initial charge, but then they would immediately get stuck between the enemy troops and horses, have trouble moving, and just fight like a buffed-up melee unit.

iirc worst casaulties for heavy cavalry happens just before another wave of enemies spawn.

at these moments your meme heavy cavalry army do shit like this:

-half of knights try to chase fleeing enemies in packs 3-5 knights each
-remaining half parks their horses in the middle of these of enemies that still fight and try to whack a mole shit out of them with 2h swords.
there are some bonus points for not moving your horse, in this mini-game, at least judging from what they all do

if new wave spawns nearby and is fairly strong, quite a few of knights are gonna die

tl;dr: just before next wave of enemies spawn group kinghts in 1 place and order them to charge after

protip: don't use cavalry, it makes your brain lazy

Is there any better Rhodok armor than Surcoat over mail? That's bit too squishty in my book. I wanna make 2 rhoducks actually, 1 with war cleaver and another with shortened scythe. Meme swadian 2h swordsman is ready, same with sarranid 2h sabre bushido guy, I coverr vaeagirs with berdish. I have trouble with nord, they actually lack of decent 2h as AI insist on using H. Great long axe as polearm (19b damage, hot shit really...).
So you see, I try to roll with a style, but it's not that easy.

Like never I compromise looks with vaegirs and wear that mask helmet, is solid meh tier at worst and way to sturdy (and that neat one way to squishy, plus still looks worse than sarranid helmet.)
I never have issues with gearing Vaegirs and Sarranids- native heavy armors are gg and both options have shitload of nice accessorises that looks good and protect good too. Sarranid pancer snickers are my personal winner for best looking piece of gear in native probably
