i did think of those after i posted but I believe we can agree that they don't really count as there wasn't really a chance of failure in them. Also as far as i remember, 2.3 only had ramuh and is remembered as a very low end patch.

ARR was a bit of a mixed bag, though. Instead of solo duties we had stuff like Chrysalis. HW's done it better, by not having stupid trials like that and instead more interesting trials like a Grand Company frontline instance with Ishgard taking part. The Warrior of Darkness fight was disappointing, but at least it was more creative than most of the story events ARR threw at us, one of which was walking around getting ambushed by enemies every four steps until we could talk to an Ascian. Helps that the HW trials minus Thordan, Ravana, Nidhogg and Bismarck EX were their own storyline, whereas all of the ARR trials were part of the MSQ. You could technically skip the Warring Triad fights all together and still reach SB content, which makes the HW MSQ a lot more manageable to get through than the ARR one, in my opinion

I know quite a few people who had trouble with some of the solo-duty events. That's not an argument, you just reminded me of the teeth-gnashing that went on with some people.

But hey at least Nidhogg Round 2 was good. I dunno, it came across as though the FF14 teams were really stretched out trying to get to do anything, probably (maybe) because of the FF15 nonsense. People are optimistic that's passed on since but we'll see.

Que up for Chrysalis like 10 times in a row. Chances are, one of the tanks will leave instantly 7 times out of 10 and if you do manage to get it going, the group wilk probably wipe at meteors.
Alternatively queue for cape as DPS and enjoy waiting 3 hours.

Trials that don't give any loot are a complete waste and only serve to make new players wait hours for the queue to pop.
