Moved on to other games. My map remains in unfinished stasis. We'll probably die again soon.

My game just crashed trying to set my keys. I changed Iron Sights (Hold) to RMB, but it didn't clear Iron Sights (Toggle) from RMB. Then when I tried to clear Iron Sights (Hold) it had an aneurysm. Now opening the controls crashes the game as well.

Sharpshooter finally has a sidearm to carry with M14/Crossbow. I'm happy with Spitfire. You can do Railgun/500 Magnum/Spitfire build too. Good for both trash and big zeds.

Compared to Flare Revolver, Spitifre is more for small/medium zeds. Cannot drop scrake from dual flare spamming like KF1.

Stoner is ok. Really need a damage buff/ammo reserve.

The Descent is fun. Endless M1 spamming. Get bored after a while tho. I hope they improve the maze.

This new approach (the same as ME:A seemingly) confuses me. Why would you want to play as a mutated looking landwhale instead of someone attractive but also capable i.e. Bayonetta. Spitfire PSA: The flare they have a chance to leave behind is not considered a grounfire. It doesn't get boosted by the skill.

Against a clot at max level the groundfire was doing 26 a tick with and without groundfires on. This was without the 35% damage skill. It's 35 per tick with that skill.

When the Microwave gun was OP again groundfire made it's damage explode, and the damage boost did almost nothing since groundfires worked strangely. This time the damage skill is straightforward, and the groundfires don't work at all.

Fuck, the StonerBoner is so fun to use but the damage makes it obsolete from the get go. They better buff that shit to atleast 40 DMG.

Nuked is really fun, unlike all the other maps, there isn't a 100% reliable campspot so you better get good at kiting. Well, from what I played so far.

Descents gimmick is pretty fun. Rooms are tiny as fuck but they didn't strike me as a negative thing.

What's TW's deal? 3 new weapons and a slightly modified gorefast after months of nothing. ARK spits out new dinos by the dozens every year, payday2 adds shit loads of new weapons, f2p games dump out new Characters every month but these fuckers just refuse to play ball. I get they wanted new perks to show off for a sequel, but damn if the original classes weren't perfect already. All roles had been fulfilled and the only way they were able to make "new" perks was to Frankenstein them out of existing perks into what we have now. The medic would have had decent weapons had it not been for the swat class and sharp shooter would have had better backup weapons to help clear trash and still take care of the larger zeds. What the fuck were they thinking?

I don't have too big an issue with things getting split up if it balances out and gives more of a set "role", but that's not the case here.
Slinger has power, speed, mobility and ammo. It came from sharp, who now just has power, slinger took the ammo benefit too as well as being given speed/mobility "just because".
It has the tools to do as it pleases and can effectively do everything including big guys, while SS is more just "stay back here and watch for big ones"

I always think it's weird how (current) TWI seem to always want to be the ones dictating maps should be played. KF (for me at least) has always had two ways to play a map: you either kite in a loop, or you hunker down with your backs to a wall, weld some doors and hope to god you're gud enough to not get fucked into the corner. It's true, the older designs PLUS slower movement speed PLUS strict class balancing meant you had to commit beforehand, you had little little room for error. I was playing the port of biohazard earlier, and I was amazed how easy it was to get cornered, in comparison to any KF2 map.

And to be fair to Tripwire whether or not they deserve it, most devs can't play their games at the highest levels that their fans can, and sort of have to use spreadsheet balancing and community feedback more than their own playtesting for higher difficulties.

Hence why we got a reskinned LMG and neutered flair revolvers.

How extensive can mods even be for KF2? I'm surprised no one (or a team) hasn't gone ahead and made a "classic" mod which tries to re-capture the feel of KF1 by such things as removing sprint (slowing Zeds to compensate, obviously) and rebalancing all the guns and perks. I'm not actually surprised. That'd be a pretty big undertaking in terms of constantly tweaking balance numbers, and the game is all but dead at this point. Sadly.

I forgot about the M79, haven't played demo for awhile. Still, theres other changes I wish they would make, problems stemmed from tiers.
The discounts would have been good if they didn't change with leveling. Discouraging xperking is a good thing imo, save for stuff like the LAR or DB for early skrek kills , which in KF1 was cheap enough anyway. Even then, most classes can account for big guys with proper coordination.

It's best if you just treat it like a flamethrower that works slightly better against medium zeds. I go with skullcracker and whirlwind, but I'm not a very good 'slinger.

I like the alpha zeds. They give me priority targets to take care of when I'm on an otherwise ammo conservative perk. Feels good to nail an alpha crawler that no one else noticed with my 9mm so the gas is harmlessly distant while maintaining a scrake/fp overwatch.

They're not terribly creative, its true, but honestly I wouldn't fully trust TWI with making completely new zeds at this point. I'll take what non-ruinous additions to the game that I can get.

It mostly might be because of pubs but its hard to get myself a good position and take care of big guys without teammates just letting crawlers and stalkers push my ass to the side or team decide to prematurely rage everything. I usually carry the LAR despite its mediocrity and it makes for flexible work with the M14, but its mostly because I use the LAR to clear trash near me that everyone ignores as i'm trying to line up on scrakes.

What do you lads think about the state of the the game and community at the moment? Should I buy it?

I've played 2 free weekends for the game and walked away from it both times feeling disappointed in it. It's hard to pin down but it really just didn't click like KF1 did for me. One of them was the Patriarch update or whatever and he was definitely pretty bad compared to the original in character and music. The player characters were all boring too.

I'm primarily concerned with the weapon handling, most guns/perks just felt kinda weak to me.

I've been here for over 2 years and have had to suffer seeing TWI slowly mangle the game more and more.
If you want an honest opinion I'd say only buy it if you're confident that you can manage to enjoy. There's a whole myriad of problems right now that I honestly don't have faith in TW to sort out. You're also right in that the game really doesn't match up to KF1 in really any way at all, their entire design philosophy seems to have changed (for the worse). I mean, $10 isn't exactly much if you end up getting it anyway, but if it isn't time sensitive I'd maybe try and pirate it and try it out solo for a little while first, that'll give you a wider test of the game than just a couple of free weekends.

So anybody else have to spam "E" to open doors/get ammo/get to trader? VERY rarely any of these kind of actions work for me on the first try.

Also had a problem where with 60 ping~ it would feel like playing with 150+ ping. Ping does not spike, there is no packet loss. No problems on other games, speed should be more than enough. I reinstalled today and so far it does not seem to happen.

It used to happen pretty constantly, regardless of ping and server.

Support is great. You blow shit up with Double Barrel Boomstick from clots from Scrake/FP. AA12 got shit tons of ammo for your magdumping pleasure. You can also use the Firebug Trenchgun as Support now. At max level, your ideal loadout is AA12/DBS/Trenchgun + Med Pistol.

Commando is good, really easy to top the scoreboard. Assault Rifles is good enough for Scrake. Agaisnt Fleshpound, you are still helpless tho.

TLDR: shit is good or great. Just don't touch the fucking abonimation named Survivalist.

The only maliciousness you'll really see is people who take dropped weapons and sell them, and that's just general greediness. Call them out in chat and you can get them kicked half the time.

Haven't seen nearly as much intentional big zed raging or leading groups of trash into flanking positions to swarm the holdout as I did in KF1. Much fewer buttblasted people trying to ruin everyone's fun in my experience.

Oh, KF2 is much, much easier, by at least a level of difficulty. I was a Hard babby in KF1, with a handful of Sui achievements and one or two HoEs. Suicidal is easily the new Hard, and HoE is as hard as KF1's Suicidal, or maybe even a little easier.

No one will blink an eye at someone level 10+ in Sui, or 15+ in HoE. Even if you get called out for being low level, if you say you know what you're doing (and follow through on it) you won't usually get kicked.

Mostly it's because trash zeds don't gain extra hp on higher difficulties, so even a low level person can clear trash if they can land headshots consistently.

It's a pretty good change, I feel. High difficulty trash zeds now just sprint and dodge like motherfuckers. Makes it seem like you're constantly teetering at the edge of that point in KF1 where you were just about to get overrun and everyone was fighting for their lives.

Things get sloppy and dicey a lot, but it's good fun. I do occasionally miss the 'well-oiled zed killing machine' feel you could have with really good groups in KF1 though.

In a way yeah

What makes the game easier:
>sprinting
>perks having level skills e.g. sharpshooter having a skill where more headshots in a certain amount of time = more damage
>certain classes give good benefits which gives more of a "team role", e.g. support can give you ammo and armour in the middle of a wave, mando can make stalkers visible to everyone as long as he's nearby
>enemies are less powerful
>medic darts have a "homing" ability so you don't need to aim as extensively to hit a teammate
>its easier to escape a sticky situation

What makes it tougher:
>enemies can also move quick and they're more frantic in movement so they're bit more of a pain to hit
>certain zeds like husks have abilities such as turning fireball launcher into a flamethrower and can blow themselves up
>things like enemies spawning and getting to you are far more aggressive
>while its easier to get out of mistakes they appear more frequently just because of the fast paced nature of things
>most official maps in general can feel really cramped and annoying

There are more things but those are some prominent changes, also it has some nice little aesthetics such as each class has a unique knife and grenade.

Pretty spot on, I'm glad about the medic dart changes though, watching your darts hit a teammate in KF1 several times and having them not register wasn't fun at all.
Now imagine that with KF2's fast paced nature.

I know people complain about the dart lock on because "muh casualnesss" but in the grand scheme of things its a huge luxury in the chaos thats KF2, its not the same as KF1's where everyones fairly stationary and everyone shuffles to move about. Its already bad enough playing medic since the weapons don't have a comfortable feeling to them, but having teammates sprinting about everywhere and getting knockbacked from a crawler tackle would just make me kill myself.
