Console devs are lazy. It's possible, but most of them just lock the frame rate to 30 and call it a day. Console gamers with 144 fps TV / monitor is a very tiny part of the userbase anyway.

I would say the ending of RC is not anywhere near as good as GR2's, and the DLC itself is kinda mediocre too. If you want to close it out nicely, you should end with GR2. The only reason I would advise playing it after GR2 would be if you hadn't played GR2 and didn't know you returned to Hekseville, since that's where RC takes place - but since you have, it's a non issue.

Having played all of the series including Raven's Choice now, if I were to replay all the content in the series, I'd definitely play Raven's Choice before I play the main GR2 game so that GR2s ending would be the climax. Raven's Choice feels like a bunch of pretty standard chapters of the main game, so the climax should definitely be on 2s ending.

I feel like I've seen him in every anime as a side character. He doesn't look "protag-y" enough to me.

With Takumi/Ami, their appearance stood out enough to look like a protagonist, but not so much that it felt overboard if you get what I'm trying to say.

HM's protagonist looks like somebody who gives you a 5-part side quest, and calls you his friend once the sub story is over, then stays in the same spot for the rest of the game and post game, having one line of dialogue when you speak to him.

I do, but to me, Takumi and Ami both looked very...generic. Don't get me wrong, I see why people like them but nothing about them really made them stand out in comparison to the rest of the cast.

I haven't played enough of her to say she's OP or not, but she's definitely not bad.

She meshes well with a lot of other characters, placed barriers are really useful and allow for some fun strategies, and despite the 400 health she's pretty damn bulky thanks to Barrier and Fortify meaning you're rarely gonna be taking full damage. Also Fortifying as a Reinhardt charges you is awesome.

Halt is hilarious if you use it to force people into a position for you to shoot them, or for enviro kills, and her primary fire, while a projectile with travel time, has really good DPS with very little drop off or spread making it fantastic for pressuring Bastion or getting rid of Torb turrets.

And Supercharger is great for pushes, especially with barriers helping keep the drum safe.

She's pretty huge though and her low natural health is an issue if she's ever out of position so anything that can get her out of her safe space gives her trouble, so Sombra ult, Roadhog hooking her, Bastion tearing down her barriers etc.

You can. The game lets you say no and keep your save and you can come back later if you want to do it. You also don't need to delete your save if you don't want as there's no benefit to you unless you specifically like the idea of your name appearing in other peoples end credits. It's entirely your choice.

I also wouldn't really fault someone too much for playing the original Nier and not playing the Drakengard games as Nier relies very little on Drakengard outside of D1-E being what started it all.

In Automata's case it doesn't offer the save deletion option until after you've already seen the credits and the post-credits cutscene, and makes it clear there isn't really any benefit to the player if they do it.

In Nier 1s case it offers you two options between Ending C and Ending D and makes it clear that these are different Endings and that choosing D will delete your save data.

What they do is clearly presented to the player.

Also, don't equate "letting the player know what is happening" to "good game design". While those two correlate often, it's absurd to say that the player should never be unsure of what's happening. Ambiguity to the player is incredibly important to a lot of game design. Sometimes you're not intended to know everything.

Is it true that Raven's DLC still doesn't explain jack shit about fuck all in regards to the creators, her origins, Elektricitie, or what the hell is up with Eto after GR2?

I can kinda handle the Nevi/Darkness and such being relegated to the paintings, and I'm even willing to put up with the greater mythology of the world going unexplained even with all the inconsistencies in it, but fuck me I'm gonna be pissed if we still have no explanation of what the fuck is up with Raven/Kat being "one being" or Eto.

I'm so fucking confused about GR2 desu.

It feels like a significant portion of it was done with a planned to further flesh out ideas it specifically brings up and drops, but Toyama has said no further GR titles are planned as of now. So much of the writing is just a mess of dropped ideas or skimmed over details, and the rush of anti-climaxes in the middle stick out like a sore thumb too.

Maybe it was meant to be bigger at first with more time to address all the plot threads, and now instead we're just getting bits and pieces as DLC?

The sequel hook shit with Cai is also just odd in general unless one of the DLC is gonna be spent on tying it up, hopefully with some more stuff related to Eto mixed in.

If you dislike the way things are unexplained in GR as is, you'll ABSOLUTELY HATE the story in Raven's Choice. It just complicates things further. It straight retcons part of the first games story in a way I don't think actually makes sense.

They save the kids by making it so that the bus never fell from Hekseville in the first place, and then you just see Kat and Raven in Hekseville and the kids are there too but they don't know each other. Also somehow "Sachya" and "Raven" become two entities.

And no it doesn't explain anything about the creators or anything about her from before she was adopted by Zaza's family either.

The myth stuff just screams Toyama desu. He likes to just have a large and unexplained backdrop for his settings, which he pulls details from into the plot without ever explaining the whole. The Creators were gods supposed to only observe events who acted against that, the 'world' was fated to fall into destruction and be made a blank slate, the relationship between dimensions is vague and subject to change, and the Darkness + Nevi had some weird lucifer-esque 'fall' which set the stage for the story and that is alluded to in the paintings. We're unlikely to get any more detail than that.

The Raven thing ticks me off though since its such a last minute addition to the plot and there's far simpler ways to explain her having a guardian than some vague shit about her possibly being part of Kat. The DLC doesn't even make it any better - since it makes her existence a time paradox in order to save the kids, which was fucking retarded and didn't need to happen from a narrative perspective unless its later revealed that doing so tied her to Kat somehow

That sorta thing just goes too far even for Toyama imo. Either he changed his mind about a lotta shit between GR1/2 and then had to compress the story of the latter or he never had a fully fleshed out story for 2 beyond the stuff about Kat and Syd to begin with.

Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian came and went, the former is one of my favourite games and latter is great too. One thing I've always thought though is that PAS shouldn't really be a 2D platform-fighter at all. Not because I disliked it's mechanics, but because of what fits the games its celebrating.

The reason Smash Bros works for Nintendo is that so many of their IPs have first appearances in 2D, many of them naturally work in a 2D platform-fighter. Mario, Kirby, Metroid, etc.

PlayStation's always been about 3D and the vast majority of the characters in PAS were from 3D games. Surely a game celebrating PlayStation should reflect that? Imagine a 3D brawler (along the lines of Anarchy Reigns) where everyone played like their original games - Kat could fly and gravity kick, Drake would control like his third person shooting, Sly would have great platforming options and stealth abilities etc.

I actually liked PAS quite a bit, had fun with it, but I feel like at it's core the concept could've lent itself to something much more fitting to the brand.

Also the inclusion of third parties was actually a great move, third parties have always been part of what makes PS great, so it's unfortunate they got so fucked over (Raiden instead of Snake, Donte instead of Dante etc.).

The narrative in GR2 was pretty shit. Like I was more happier not knowing Kat's origins like back in the first than now knowing after the way they handled it, the Elektricitie shit was pretty dumb, and the DLC as mentioned was actually trash.
Admittedly the sidequests in 2 were legit comfy as fuck.

GR1 had an air of mystery, that to me, was quite alluring. The abstract environments, game length, portability, and story pacing felt so good that part of me didn't even care if there was ever going to be a sequel for fears of them fucking it up. I find myself replaying it every year and I don't give many games that sort of attention other than Diablo 2, OoT, and REmake. Not saying that I never wanted to find out where Kat came from or what happened to the kids in the Ark but I'm always skeptical of sequels and have been overly cautious ever since ME2 took out planet exploration and finding armours, effectively killing the series for me.

Now, GR2 does go big in many ways but also squanders the pacing hard to the point that the end suffers... again. This was somewhat excusable in the first game but GR2 had a decent bit of length and budget that there was no reason to rush the true ending the way they did, and the amount of good content in the game is spread way too thin. Dusty tokens are fucking cancer and a real thorn in the side for the completionist in me to be hindered by some half-assed community grind. In the month the game sat collecting dust I only amassed 1,000 extra tokens from results and photo reviews and only have a bit over 3,000 now so I probably won't get the rest of the rewards until early to late summer if it keeps going at this rate, but I just don't have any fucks to give at this point. Mining trenches had some potential but was quite laughably outdone by replaying Chapter 19 over and over to finish upgrading Kat's nerfed powers because of talismans and the retarded gravity styles. The Raven DLC was fairly mediocre but I appreciate the attempt anyway I suppose.

Overall the ending of GR2 was cute and bittersweet, but in no way justifies the slog I suffered through to get there. I honest to god wish they just left shit alone at this point because GR2 left such a bad taste in my mouth.
