Nope. If you listen to the Fire Keeper's dialogue after giving her the Eyes, she says:
>In the far distance, I sense the presence of tiny flames. Like precious embers, left to us by past Lords, linkers of the fire.

And it's even more explicit once you reach the actual ending, where she pretty much says the same thing. Which means that, even though she brings about an Age of Dark, she knows that eventually a new flame will come.

Lightning spears need a higher ranged attack damage, and a lowered damage gain from the melee hit. It needs to change from a 50/50 damage distribution to more of a 70/30 or 80/20. The melee hit still exists but the spears themelves are more potent at range.

.....It's literally the running theme of the entire series including DeS.
The big picture theme is the idea of things being prolonged on life support when they should really have been allowed to die. All of the games give you NPC dialogue and story which suggests you need to prolong the status quo under the guise of saving the world, and then waits for you to come to your own conclusion that everything you're being told might actually be bad advice and that the best thing to do might be to let it all end.
In DS3 it's played up to the max because it's also a meta analogy for allowing the series itself to die so you can search for something new.

Sir Alonne is definitely one of the high points of the game for me. It's a very well made setpiece boss battle that is slightly soiled by the lack of quality of the short minilevel that precedes it, which is all the more surprising because the DLC as a whole has very good level design both mechanically and visually speaking.

Str build is fine. Not sure if you will be proccing the bleed, you can use carthus rouge to enhance the innate bleed it has.
>>
>>171600775
Ariandel is interesting because it presents the same theme again, but then flips the metaphors around. So now fire is being used to end the world instead of prolong it. Instead of goodguy NPCs asking you to take action to save the world, you're being asked by badguy NPCs to not take action in order to preserve the world. In both cases the world is blatently already fucked and you can easily make a case for putting it out of its misery.

For contrarians Ariandel asks them to consider the plight of the people you're "ending" in the process of putting the world out of its misery. The DLC provides residents like the rotbed guy who is quite happy with his situation, isn't trying to hurt anybody and just wants to sleep in his rotting filth. It also gives you "badguys" who talk and explain their opinion, explicitly state that no matter how rotten their world becomes they will still consider it their home, show real emotion, and then you kill them and burn their world to ashes anyway.

The final dialogue with the corvian as the world burns is fantastic, but you're also asked the consider if you did the right thing. It's a great DLC.

QUICK! Post weapons you're hoping get a buff in the latest patch.

My baby the Halberd just can't handle mobs. Lothric Knights and small groups of enemies are fine but the r1 just isn't fast enough pve wise. Spears don't have this problem so simply giving it a speed comparable to that weapon class should be fine.

Yeah I think the lack of poise or whatever the fuck it's called was giving me problems. I'd basically need to get an attack off quickly and both the r1s and r2s were just a little bit too long so I'd just get staggered.

Greatswords like the claymore at least let you trade and pretty favourably too.

>what's your source

talking to a person IRL who does localization for bamco, that's how I learned the bits about the abyss dragon, which I specifically asked about, but he didn't really tell me anything else sadly.

I only added the ??? because none of those 4 really feel like a final boss to me, and apparently there's a top-secret 3rd area nobody is allowed to talk about.

There's absolutely no question that Father Ariandel is complicit. He's visibly concerned that the fire might start, clearly unhappy about Friede dying, asks for his flail so he can whip himself as a means of suppressing the fire. He probably chained himself to the chair, and he's said to have chosen rot over fire.

Friede of course seems to be playing the role of an imposter, it looks like she's ousted a previous lady of the painting and taken her place, lying to the residents and hiding the evidence. She found happiness and a home though, so her and Ariandel's motivation is only to preserve their home. Hence I put "badguys" in quotes. You don't really belong there, and it's not your home to destroy, but it is rotting and some of the people wish to choose death and end it all. I'm assuming that burning the painting does imply everybody in it dies, so the question is whether you should get to make that choice.

There's no definite right answer, because it's not presented as right and wrong.

Vordt's is also stylish as hell
Actually Vordt's is one of those weapons that never made sense to me. Like yeah, you can stick a status effect on an ultra, but don't expect it to ever actually inflict that status. Yet if you compare it to the greatclub, it clearly lost a lot of AR to pay for its frost buildup despite that status having 0 value on an ultra.

Like, having a useless status effect on something that can't use it for flavour and lore reasons, I understand, but why factor it into damage balance when it clearly doesn't contribute anything?

Because From develops things within certain parameters such as optimal AR, weight and status effects and tries to keep things within certain parameters. It's why FUGS had so much AR prior to the huge nerf of it because it was the highest weight weapon in the game, same for the Carthus Curved Sword pre-nerf since that was the heaviest curved sword. To them adding a status effect on an ultra even if it is functionally useless means it has to suffer an AR penalty to compensate.

>ywn chill in a place this comfy

>>171601673

The theme is constant no matter what. There will always be detrimental effects for prolonging any Age, and there will always be people who prefer you destroy it, like the slab Corvian, and the ones who would prefer it this way, like the rotting bed Corvian. Our world is the same.

In addition, if you've picked up on it, the other theme is that of how each world isn't inherently perfect; the grass is always greener. The painting essentially reflects how an Age of Dark would be. It's cold, stagnant. However it is peaceful. But even peace has problems. Because life was too perfect, too pristine, you end up with people like Sulyvahn. These people never experience the pain of loss and grow up spoiled and curious for a life more chaotic. Sulyvahn became a sociopath essentially. Death meant nothing to him as a continued life had little meaning. He ended up enamored with the chaos of the Fire and all the changes it could bring about.

The grass is always greener, and peace is stagnant and boring. There is no heaven, just a different hell.

It's implied but nothing is ever confirmed. Fromsoft reference things from previous games constantly but the references don't have to mean that thing X IS thing Y, it can simply be a reference.

Behind Ariandel, in a sealed room, is a fake dragon tail prop. All through the DLC are statues and paintings of a woman, but the woman's face is destroyed on every image or model. Friede wears a hood which obscures her face, she's a swordswoman from the Sable church and not originally from the painting, she's changed her name, her set says she "assumed the precise form that they yearned for."

She's impersonating somebody, and it's not the painter because the painter doesn't have a tail, but we're not told who this person is. It could be Priscilla, it could be Yorshka, it could be Ariandel's former lover and Ariandel could be responsible for all of the statues and artwork. Ariandel could even have defaced them himself and wilfully deluded himself into accepting Friede as a substitute.

That's all speculation.

Dragons are related to stasis, a thing without change, more a force of nature than an actual being.

What if primordial serpents are the first beings who attempted to become like the dragons, except instead of understanding stasis, they became creatures of constant need for change and evolution? The opposite of the dragons, and have been pulling the strings of every single event, including the ignition of the first flame?

Oh come on this is fucking Dark Souls. They wouldn't even consider this storyline if it weren't at least this tragic.
What do you think happens? The fire clears the rot away and all of the residents just shack up in a motel for a few days before moving into a fresh new home? All of the blood shed and self flagellation was over not wanting to move house?
So by killing Friede you just create a true happy ending where all of the residents get to live on in peace and harmony? In a Fromsoft title? You clearly haven't been paying enough attention.

When the world rots we set it on fire, for the sake of the next world. They're all burned alive anon, even the little one. The painting will make somebody a goodly home some day. Not her though, she's fucked.

Quite possibly, I'm getting hyperbolic because the happy ending idea is so unlikely. Ariamis was nowhere to be found however, and Ariandel is an odd case because it's implied that he restored the painting of Ariamis rather than creating a new painting.
Where exactly the painting goes, whether it even ends up in the "real" world, what can go into the painting and so on is all up in the air because we're dealing with magical plot devices involving alternate realities. What I can say though is that there's no situation where Fromsoft would write an objectively happy ending where you outright save the day.

>Door of Guf

>The peculiar idiom of describing the treasury of souls as a "body" may be connected to the mythic tradition of Adam Kadmon, the primordial man. Adam Kadmon, God's "original intention" for humanity, was a supernal being, androgynous and macro-cosmic (co-equal in size with the universe). When this Adam sinned, humanity was demoted to the flesh and blood, bifurcated and mortal creatures we are now. According to Kabbalah, every human soul is just a fragment (or fragments) cycling out of the great "world-soul" of Adam Kadmon. Hence, every human soul comes from the guf [of Adam Kadmon].

so the sun itself is the remains of dark soul? when the world goes dark it starts to leak, and more humans/humanity is born.

This is why Ornstein is called the first knight of the suns eldest born. Gwyn is literally the first human to be born from the sun.

this could explain the usurpation of fire ending, where Lilliane asks us to make Londor whole. the progenitor being who became the sun could be named Londor, which is why so many cities are named after him.

the sun is the first flame, gwyn could be the first being born from it and so took the most from it and understood it the best. as more and more souls dissapated there was a dichotomy of light and dark, etc.

when the flame fades, the sun goes into an eclipse. think of the world of dark souls like a moebius strip centered around the gravity of the first flame, with countless worlds about it. when the flame is lit, the world is relaxed, the strip is perfectly soft. when the flame goes out, the moebius strip withers and shrinks, causing the worlds to converge and time to be convoluted.
>>
>>171607986
Good ideas.
Also explains why that after we link the flame in the first, normal ending, nothing seems to work and the sky & sun stay the same. The cycle was left to go for too long, not even the player can kindle the flame at all, and the sun still exists to leak humans/humanity as normal in its cycle

there's not enough energy left in the world to link it. no more kingdoms, no more heroes.

the kiln in DaS3 implies that lothric is the last kingdom, and it's likely that the player is the last person to link the flame.

remember, jewish tradition does not consider the guf to be infinite; eventually the souls run out, and when this happens the world ends.

dont forget, gwyn linked the first flame to humanity, so this explains why now the cycle is like it is, with the sun spewing humanity.

the usurpation of fire has the player taking the last of that flame for their own, and the white halo around the sun, or where the center of the universe is, is now back to being some form of pure primal force, but different than anything before it.

yes, the souls run out, but they have to be extinguished first. with the cycle of fire being bound to the dark soul, the oversoul of all mankind, and the usurpation of the remainder of the flame, the collective of humanity can continue the course of nature, as they are now just the fragmented oversoul bound to nothing.
>>
>>171608489

So the great lords found their souls in the flame. Did other creatures also get their souls their? Like the silver knights?

And with humans is their soul hunanity or something else because in DS1 you find the soul of a lost undead or whatever and it's just the white souls rather than any humanity.

>>171608809

No in the intro it's just a bed of fire. It's only a bonfire much much later after Gwyn linked it.

But wait, if he linked it to humanity maybe you're right and he did so through putting it in/burning someones corpse.
>>
>>171610470

actually

embers are the dark soul reigniting as the brand of the gods begins to die. the flame gwyn created burns away mankinds soul. the first flame is the shackle.
>>
>>171609270
Yes, so at this point we're well past the idea that this is all about wanting to keep your house intact. If you want a pet theory I think this scene is about the corvians trying to reach either the painter, or possibly the chapel for the way of the white. The little chapel is behind a locked gate, the paths both in front and over the gate are guarded by knights, there are 2 knights in the chapel, and corvians are trying to sneak up through the well behind the chapel. This is the type of church Gael prays in, so you can assume it's the religion of the locals, and I think they're being prevented from reaching it for some reason. Maybe they're trying to pray for fire/another ash. Gael who was able to leave the painting is doing the same thing in a different chapel.

The locals seem set on burning the world away, talky corvian says "it's the one thing WE do right". If they were able to just leave the painting, and their main concern was being killed by knights, then they'd just leave the painting. They certainly wouldn't be crawling to their certain death in a futile attempt to set everything on fire.

>Theres no ambiguity
Where on earth is there no ambiguity you fucking clown.
>>
>>171610540
But if humanity is just dark wrapped in souls and we can burn the dark bit then why do we need to link it? Can't we just chuck darkness into it?
>>
>>171610501
no its not. the first flame was just that, a flame, a huge surplus of energy in a static world.

gwyn linked the flame to burn from humans and humanity because he took so much from the flame to fuel himself, which is why he was able to split his soul over and over as 'gifts' as a sort of insurance policy.

gwyn is the reason the fire died, and probably the reason the first flame spat out the dark soul to begin with; it too wanted an insurance policy because gwyn is a massive shit and wanted to rule the world as a god, and did.
>>
>>171610614
I think the implication is that the fire has only lasted this long because we keep fuelling it with humans.
>>
>>171610249
It's simple. Get base physical stats and pump what else you need for now. If you plan on slapping on agape to pvp, stay like that. If not and just going through the game, you want to eventually get all your stats to 50 (major softcap) then 99 because lmao soul memory. >>171610348

>>171610470
When you ember, the fire is visible on your outside (and I guess it makes your outside tougher since it boosts your HP), so maybe it's just the exterior that's burning like that. Instead of a blazing white ring, you just have embers of fire licking across the surface?

>those frosted tips are laaaame as fuck

Because the dark and humanity are the same. It's called the Dark Soul of Man, remember?
And sure we could just chuck small humanities into the First Flame, thats how we kindle bonfires afterall but the First Flame needs way more fuel than just little pieces of humanity.
And thats why we have to link it, you don't die immediatly you slowly burn out from the inside as your humanity is consumed.
>>
>>171610751
you need to link it because of gwyn taking part of a portion of the dark soul, along with the remaining flame within himself, and linked the flame for the very first time like that.

I think that's implied to be the remains of the school of Mensis after they projected themselves into nightmare and returned from it via rebirth. They are "The Ones Reborn", where other localizations have the plural, and this is where the line "resulted in the still-birth of their brains" comes from. They were reborn, but reborn as a fused pile of braindead corpses. Their brains never left the nightmare.

>the gods species have their souls sapped like we do?

they didnt, just people with the true dark soul within them, if there even were any people like this, died out. so the new shackled dark soul took its place, and the souls of the gods remained as they were.

you forget, the dark soul is the only real fragment of a great loud soul. for all we know, the souls we receive from killing bosses or gods are just fragments of the souls of the lesser beings they killed, a soul made of lesser souls, but not a great soul.

The abyss is what causes souls to go awry. Artorias' soul shows his normal shackled soul covered by the abyss apart from a tiny spot in the middle. This is shown by him keeping his normal form and even using his sword - he hasn't had the shackles removed (the white part of his soul)

Manus' soul on the other hand has been completely taken over. There is no shackle, his black humanity inside has spewed out of his soul, and he's taken a monstrous form - perhaps a true form

I dunno, man. We've already seen some groundswell about pygmies, what with the Ringed City being gifted to them by Gwyn. That says to me that we're going to get some tidbits about exactly what the relationship between Gwyn and said Pygmies was.

Pus of man is rampant humanity. The darksign leaks humanity till you go hollow. So you plug the leak and the humanity that's raving inside of you grows more and more rampant till it eventually bursts as the pus of man.

pus of man is dark gone wild

the pus is turning into a dragon anon. note the dragon horns and cripple wings. humanity are the children of dragons, which gwyn actively denied them. beings like priscilla and yorshka are deific entities from what humanity was before Gwyn sealed it and created the dark soul. the serpents are evil beings who hate dragons and don't want what's best for mankind

>>171612853

The Pus of Man is apparently some next level shit that we had no idea the Darksign was capable of. This is the first time we've seen the Fire fade this far, and the farther it fades the more Dark starts to react to it. Apparently it's the Dark within the Darksign that goes wild out of anger.

As for the Coiled Sword, I'm not sure. It's possible since we killed him in the past he was turned into a bonfire only to get resurrected with it stuck in him when the bell was tolled, which we don't even know who did it. That was what Gundyr was supposed to do or something. We don't even know why Bonfires even appear when something dies.

None of it seems to make any sense.

the abyss is the dark after the linking of the fire; the oversoul shattered it reacted violently with any humanity it came in contact with as it lacked humanity.

the deep is looking to be the original intention of the dark; a peaceful gentle place where things from above return to below. the deep we have in das3 tho was corrupted by aldritch with shit and piss and bodies, as the cathedral of the deep overlooks a chasm.

perhaps the deep in game was the start of the dark soul starting to gather in one spot and assuming its natural form; but aldritch's fat goo ass fucked it up.

Basically. There is some credence to the theory that they are related to Dragons. The Wyverns in Lothric sprout these same things. Serpents are imperfect dragons that are symbols of the undead. Plus as >>171613124 said they have some hard characteristics that seem to also be draconic.

Neat, took 'em long enough.
I'm assuming it'll be in Lothric Castle, since that gives players the early-access option.

I think the other most likely entrance is Anor Londo. IIRC there was one anon way, way back that speculated about a deep-related DLC where we experience a 'vision' of the future a la Aldrich and make our way down through a ruined Lothric towards the abyss. I recall it now only because what we know of TRC is sounding uncannily similar and it makes me think that an Aldrich-related entrance point is really likely.
>>
>>171613646
You know, I'm starting to get a little suspicious.
For all intents and purposes it honestly looks as if the entrance point to the DLC is being kept as some sort of grand secret, considering they would rather reveal one of the goddamn boss fights than saying where the player has to go to in order to access it.

But from just looking at the game I can't imagine any more perfect location to access the DLC from than the Flameless Shrine/Kiln of the First Flame, in the empty sequence between leaving the shrine and teleporting to the Kiln bonfire. But if that would indeed be the case, then why all the secrecy?

I don't know the exact mechanics, but what you do need to understand is that Hollows, which is what everyone is underneath the Flame-illusion, are made of wood. Props on the stage of life. Empty puppets that Souls gave personality, and Fire gave "life." But life is a lie, though some people would gladly take life and death to the alternative.

what if the shackle souls becoming trees is just nature being pissed that something it begat was shackled?

what if things progressed naturally and the age of ancients itself was a biblically manufactured "before time" scenario where the cycle of light and dark concluded in stasis?

considering the mobius strip idea, what if all the world focused into a single, timeless point. all the universes are barren with trees made from shackled souls, and the dragons are infact humans just chilling?

what if the mobius strip dried out so hard it rubbed itself and the fire started, nature attempting to correct itself but then gwyn held that shit back again so now its regressing to try it again? what if the natural course of the universe is to just fade out into nothing, like the real universe?

So we've got a fair bit of knowledge about the Pus of Man - abyss gone wild via the Darksign, since the fire is fading so much.

What about other things humans "turn into"?

>High Wall - Tree-like corpses with branches
>Turning into humanoid dragons via the stones
>Lothric Castle - The floating things that fire meatballs at you during Dragonslayer Armor
>Undead Settlement - Corpses completely turned into roots (eg. one in the chair at the start)
>Dreg Heap - Pilgrims turning into the 'angels'

How do all of these fit into the story?
>>
>>171615005

Or something that makes more sense:

What if the First Flame was just a Fire that a Dragon breathed?
>>

the arch trees are made of hollows

the great hollow
>>
>>171603751
>assblasted into oblivion
>>
>>171615136
Hollows turn into things based on their environment and magical influence.

High wall hollows are all reaching towards the castle. They want to reach out to it but can't, so they grow their limbs towards it until they're tree-like and ironically rooted.
Stones are dragon magic
The Pilgrim Butterflies are supposedly related to the londor pilgrims but we won't really know more until the DLC
Tree dudes in the chairs at the undead settlement were probably either worshiping the greatwood or else influenced by its curses and just ended up as tree-people
And angel pilgrims will require we wait until the DLC, too

>>171615136
Maybe the tree hollows in the high wall and the tree corpses/skeletons in undead settlement are seperate. The ones in US seem to be closer to a fungal infection whilst the hollows in the high wall are actually turning into pilgrim butterflys. The initial stages look like tress but you can see the transformation better if you look carefully.

I propose that pilgrim butterflys are a corrupted version of what humans can ascend to, maybe angels maybe dragons due to some unknown interference.
>>
>>171615229

Basically this.

Hollows came from the Dark. Probably splinters of the Great Hollow trees, that were once Hollows themselves.

Final boss isMan, the Great Hollowan Archtree.
>>
>>171615136
>>High Wall - Tree-like corpses with branches

hollows with so little flame left in them but their humanity gradually comes out and they calcify into trees due to not understanding whats happening.

>>Turning into humanoid dragons via the stones

undead studying nature so hard they become nature, in this case, dragons, which being perfect, are static and unchanging.

>>Lothric Castle - The floating things that fire meatballs at you during Dragonslayer Armor

londor shit where they ushered the dark out of a person in a controlled manner, but it was still shackled, so you get a flying tree man.

>>Undead Settlement - Corpses completely turned into roots (eg. one in the chair at the start)

same as the high wall; they didnt know what was happening and the souls have dissipated so hard they calcify into trees.

>>Dreg Heap - Pilgrims turning into the 'angels'

pilgrims are just that, faithful to an idea of a true nature of things, in this case the dark. they draw out the darkness in them to take new form, but are still shackled literally and figuratively. its a matter of will to change form into an angel.

>How do all of these fit into the story?

One of the running themes of the serious is about the unlimited potential of humanity. We have the capacity for both great good and great evil. We have the potential to be as mighty as the gods themselves. We have the potential to be any number of different things, from knights to sorcerers to pyromancers to clerics to dragons to trees to monsters to angels.

If humanity can be said to have a defining trait, it is our potential.

yes, because their dark soul is shackled. the ones on the high wall resemble the butterflies more because they can see the butterflies and see whats happening to them, so they try to become butterflies but fail.

the butterflies and angels are a controlled 'freed' form of humanity that is still under your control, but shackled due to gwyns insurance policy.
>>
>>171615592

Pilgrim Butterflies are what happen when they are exposed to fire, resulting in a caterpillar that had its metamorphosis fucked with. The butterflies are born deformed and fiery. If kept under the shell and in the DARK, like they're supposed to, they stay calm and grow like they should. The Angels are just Pilgrim Butterflies that grew in an environment mimicking the Age of Dark.
>>
>>171615821
if thats the case, maybe the reason they hang out around prince lothric's tower is because they want him to link the fire because they think it will make them more powerful or free them from their misery.

I honestly couldn't fucking fathom what it is they're doing based on their behaviour. They swarm around Lothric's tower but do nothing, meanwhile they straight up carry a suit of armor from who knows where that actually ATTACKS you, and they ASSIST it in trying to kill you and only you. And if you kill it they die.

WAIT

You kill it and they die.

Oh fuck.

Just like when you kill the Pilgrims in the DLC the corresponding Angel dies.

Wait, was the Dragonslayer Armor something more than we think it is?
>>
This excellent discussion has me thinking about how lore in the series is broadly split into smaller, more emotional lore on individuals and kingdoms and larger, less emotional but more fundamental to the souls universe lore like the nature of the flame and life/humanity itself.

I think I like it when we have regular emotional lore that gives way to a bigger picture towards the end. It feels like a reward. That's not to say individual focused lore is bad at all, I love the lore on Gundyr, Sir Alonne, etc but the bigger picture is always mysterious and really fun to find out.
>>
>>171616258
maybe the butterfly and angel thing is just a conduit for them to exist outside of their agony, consciousness and all?

maybe the butterflies are premature angels and because they are in pain they just legit guard prince lothric hoping he can link the fire because they are mistaken in thinking this is their true final form, and hate the church of londor because of the agony they are in??

>>171616815
Also considering the DLC, the angels die when you kill the odd mass coming out of the pilgrim's back - it looks telepathically/magically linked to the angel itself - killing the angels does nothing as another one will just spawn, until you kill the 'original' pilgrim

Since it's possible that the 'angels' at Lothric Castle and the ones in the DLC are made from the same thing (pilgrims/humans), but just made in different ways (and it's possible Kingdom of Lothric did this on purpose). Could be something there about how the angels at Lothric do something special to the Dragonslayer Armor.

Perhaps they see you coming below them, and 'activate' the armor with their powers to try and stop you from reaching the archives/princes

there are several descriptions we've already gotten from the ringed city that describe the angels as unique living entities, and it's basically already been confirmed there is going to be an angelic being who is called down from the heavens by the gray giant.

>A gray giant who appears to wear the old judicator clothes.Raising its hands up in the air, the giant is shouting towards the ceiling. Seems it's calling someone far up in the sky.

IE there is going to be an aggressive angel boss, most likely an archangel. Probably Lloyd since a complete fanservice boss is already implied and I doubt there's gonna be 5 bosses in this thing.

maybe filianore serves as the gough to the abyss dragon, a dragon that hatched in the wrong neighborhood and got super corrupted. you attempt the boss but fuck up, but go back to filianore and she tells you a thing about it/gives you a thing/assists you by calming it so you can kill it.

then you gotta fight the angel boss, and if you lose, it teleports you to the true final boss, a primordial serpent.

You are forgetting there is a confirmed "king" boss for the ringed city from the name files.

1Crimson Bat

2Mother of Dragons

3Ruined Capital King

4Snake Soul

Remember Demon Prince used to LITERALLY be called "Crimson Bat", so the fact that these are very likely basic DESCRIPTIONS of the bosses is very high.

And why would the Ringed city king be a fanservice? since this is a place we have never been in all of souls history (confirmed by the fact that's where the never mentioned Gwyn's youngest daughter lives, and we've never seen her before, so). And why would he be an angel consideing he is the king of pygmies, unless he also sprouted like the pilgrims.

Maybe, but i'm guessing snake soul (which the giant is calling upon) is a primordial serpent/angel which would be related to the knights (since they look like darkwaiths) and it would be fan service because everyone wants this them snakes

The area "no one is allowed to talk about" will have angels and flying primordial serpents in the sky like in the "theknow" leak and at the end we will face the ringed city king

Why would they introduce the concept of a giant sandworm and literally just drop it instantly? When a narrative thing has served its gameplay purpose, Miyazaki discards it. And nothing has been said about a "heaven" existing in Dark Souls. You're applying your own Christian upbringing to a cosmology that is both fictional inherently Japanese.

He could, but then it doesnt fit the fact that a grey giant would be calling upon the fucking KING of the ringed city only 2/3rds into the dlc, which is somewhat safe to assume the ringed city king would be the last boss of the dlc, placed in the "mysterious 3rd". But even if he WAS, then it would leave to SnakeSoul to be the final boss of the DLC as the giant seems to be at the 2nd or 1st area, and then now you would have to make a reason as well as to why either the ringed city king (an individual we have never seen before) is fanservice, unless you want to make motherdragon be the fanservice one, but how would she relate to the ringed knights?

It doesnt fit, see?

The "Stone-Humped Hag" is the pilgrim merchant we can talk to at the top of the Dreg Heap. She literally calls herself as such.

Furthermore, we've seen how the angel/pupa relationship works: a thing sprouts from a pilgrim, said thing somehow projects the Angel or otherwise summons it, and killing the pilgrim which is controlling the angel kills both permanently.

correction: the city has existed since they found the archdragon, which could be construed as as old as the first flame.

>>171625615

nigger gameplay mechanics aren't even close to reliable in this game series. NPC's never respawn despite being undead, non-human enemies respawn infinitely, the human enemies that do respawn, respawn on the spot (abyss watchers), but only until the boss is done and they just never respawn despite being undead. you use a bonfire to warp to a bonfire to warp to another bonfire because they didnt have time to make a proper kiln.

the angels are defending the pilgrim, if the pilgrim is dead they go bye bye.

I mean fuck, the pilgrim butterflies instantly die when dragonslayer armor dies, and nobody ever questions their physicality.

>what's the deal with the Bat Demons anyway?

In all honesty, they're just a DeS reference that has gotten way out of hand.

They've always been out-of-place, really. Exactly why they haul people who have golden rings around is a mystery, but if a giant version can be dubbed a Prince, it could be that they had enough of a social structure to be able to parlay with the old Lords. Perhaps, to stop Gwyn from just killing them all, they were the one subset of demon smart enough to beg for mercy.

I've never tried, because the amount of damage it does is just not worth it. Better to parry the regular sword swings.

Okay how in the fuck has this happened.

The champion gravetender

THE CHAMPION FUCKING GRAVETENDER

Has now killed me more times than any other boss on any of my runs by DOUBLE, on my goddamn easy mode nuclear sorcerer.

As soon as that fucking dog shows up, he rage modes, spews an infinite range breath attack that I can't escape even beyond the max range of my soul spear, triple dashes around that almost oneshots me, and then spams the breath again, and triple dashes, and spams the breath again, and chains it until I'm out of stamina or have nowhere else to run to.

How did I chump this guy every time with my other builds? How was he so easy? I don't remember these literally impossible patterns. I can kill the wolf in like ten soul arrows, but I can never get the last three in once he starts infinitely chaining breath dashes.

Why would it be post-game though? Functionally, the only things that change are that Yuria may be gone if you complete her questline, and you can buy SoC armor from the Handmaid before starting NG+.

And it's not like putting it post-game really matters that much anyway, people can beat SoC at SL70, which is lower than the recommended level for beating Friede. The only people who would care are people who haven't beaten the game at least once in the entire year that it's been out.

TRC appears to be where the Pilgrims are coming out of, and they walked along that bridge there to head towards Lothric Castle as you can tell by the one dead one on it and the miracle/londor gem under it (one probably fell off). So, follow the bridge all the way back, after accounting for the warped and twisted terrain (that bridge apparently connected to Lothric Castle at some point before ending up as it is now), and you'll probably find the entrance to the DLC.

Boss list from the unused files is

crimsonbat (demon prince)
ruincapitalking (unrevealed)
snakesoul (unrevealed)
materdragon (probably the dark dragon)

I'd assume "Ruin Capital King" is the leader of the ringed knights, assuming they're the same enemy the "capitalknight" name file was referring to. Just a guess here, but I'm guessing it might have something to do with this weapon that references a "mad king" in its description and sure as fuck looks like a boss weapon. The twisty horns coming out of the skull look a lot like the twisty horns coming out of their armor at the shoulders and other joints.

That only leaves snakesoul, but that name is so self-explanatory that I don't think anyone needs to be told what it is. It's either a primordial serpent, or an angel if they're somehow related to the serpents.
>>
do I use all my bonfire ascetics to respawn the giant lord and farm souls before NG+ or is there a better use for them?
>>
>>171637331
You can use them to get NG+ gear before NG+, like the Moonlight Greatsword, Crystal Soul Spear, etc.

You actually only need one bonfire ascetic to infinitely farm the giant lord, since each one you burn respawns the ascetic in his boss room. Don't forget to pick up the soul vessel in another memory each time you do it, too.
>>
>>171634701
Why is that a problem? The whole point of invading is block the player's access to the boss, imagine the tedium of fighting Aldrichfags while trying to farm for proofs.

And in DaS2 we should be talking about theoretical invasions since while in theory you can be invaded even when the boss is dead, being invaded in DaS2 is an ultra rare occurrence due to the retarded limited Red Orb system IN ADDITION to the retarded Soul Memery system.

Four-stage fight could work just fine as long as they don't pull the same bs as with Friede and cheaply just give the boss a new healthbar between the stages or put in a stage with multiple opponents where you're almost liable to get hit a bunch due to a bad camera.

>>171639195
What in the actual hell are you doing? No, everything here is wrong, stop being wrong.

Dark scaling softcaps at 30/30, meaning you get significantly reduced returns going over that. The only time you need more is if you want Affinity to kill harder, and even then you don't go over 60int+30fth. Replace chime of want with caitha's chime, it's faster and the loss of damage isn't enough to be a big deal.

Raise attunement to 50, lower adaptability to 10. The whole point of having attunement is to not need adaptability.

Try actually investing in vigor you moron, just because you don't have a close range weapon and wear tattered robes does not mean you can afford to ignore hp. If anything, that's the exact reason to have as much hp as you can possibly get. 50vig is a good stopping point, everything else can go into endurance since your spells cost stamina.

Long story short, learn what the softcaps are.

>>171639543

What's the most damage per mana pyromancy for PvE?
Every time I do a caster run I end up using a weapon 90% of the time anyway because its not worth wasting fp on random trash, so I'm going to try a pyro run and use spells as much as possible.

It combos into an R2 as well but it should really only be used as a roll-catch for people close to you. It is still slower than basic attacks and the recovery time of the animation does leave you at risk for being punished compared to staggered 2HR1 spam.

No point in going beyond 50 Int even as a Sorcerer, and if you're doing a Hexer build then there's no point in going beyond 30 of either. If you're worried about spell requirements, just Spice down what you want to use.

Either reduce Attunement down to 32, or bump it up to 43. If you're using both Clear Bluestone and Southern Ritual then 32 is fine, shunt those points into somewhere else.

Your Vigor is a joke, go up to at least 40 or hit the soft cap at 50. The Endurance is manageable, but unless you're going to bump up Vitality to improve your equip load % you're going to have problems.

You're probably doing shit damage because your physical attack stats are shit. You want at least some investment so that you're able to use better weapons than just a fucking Longsword that doesn't even deal decent non-physical damage because of lack of innate elemental damage. If you're really intent on playing a Hexer, then you use Darknight Stone-infused Silverblack weapons or the Roaring Halberd, buffed with Dark Weapon. Or use an Ascetic on The Rotten, bump up Str to 20 and two-hand Nito's Popsicle of Chunking.

>>
>>171640968

>>
>>171640496
That's still really shitty.

Affinity is a joke, you're literally going to have only two orbs at 30 Int, that's not going to do shit.

Crystal Soul Spear is even more of one, unless you have at least 40 Int it's not going to do jack squat, and you're going to be farming Leydia Witches for forever to get the 23 Simpleton's Spices you need to drop it down.

You're far better off with something like Scraps of Life and Recollection, those have better utility, aren't as costly for shit effectiveness and only take up one slot each. You can drop a bunch of your Attunement to save on levels since, again, you're already using Clear Bluestone and Southern Ritual.

The SL meta in DaS2 is around 150 anyways, you're way over that.

Matchmaking in DaS2 is not based on levels. It is based on the number of souls you have ever held (not even used, just held, even if you lose them they count against you). SM (and a lack of a full eye orb) ruined everything.

SM is also why people in DaS2 never stop leveling. Once you have your set maxed, and souls not spent on leveling are wasted.

>>171641864
It's a fun build, and the DLC is coming up so you'll have an easier time getting swordgrass. I go into light Pyromancy with it from an early level because it gets such a big benefit from weapon buffs, so you slap Flame Arc on as soon as it's available.
Sellswords only need DEX, as Sharp is better than Quality, so then you can do a lopsided Pyro build where you leave base Faith requirements and start levelling INT. That transitions into Friede's Scythe. Plus the CGS is actually a good complimentary weapon itself when Twinblades need an option to bust shields. All 3 weapons upgrade with different titanite... The progression is just lovely.

You haven't been paying attention then. Soulsbourne is basically "Bad End" the series. Wasting away in grief as she watches the last of her family/kind whither away while being unseen and unable to help is far more fitting and inline with what we have seen in the series.

3rd phase should have been Ariandel breaking from his chair and turning into a massive winged Corvian + his flail.

Darkflame Friede should have been a secret boss with something to do with the statue in the back (perhaps just do a little gesture in front of it after you've spoken to the painter).
