They're plenty useful. They still kill fuckers dead, and they're light. Especially with .45 ACP pistols where they kill fuckers very very dead. They're sidearms, e.g. they fill a secondary role, but if you're desperate you can still wreck shit with it as a primary.
What, does it not have enough stoppan powah? Please, you should be headshotting everyone to begin with. Even the shittiest of 9mm pistols can two or three-shot a poopsuit from the head.
My favorite secondaries thus far are PB and the USP dess.

Yeah, the PB is a solid handgun for when you're really hunting for stash locations off of incapacitated NPCs though the damage on the Fort 12 with Camo had better chances at doing that as legshots with it seemed to down people more reliably than 9x18.and other 9x19 pistols

PB is really quite an underrated little gem. People think that just because it's a single-stack 9x18mm it must be shit, like the Makarov. But oh no it isn't. Thanks to its suppressor it's super quiet, and any base invasion becomes an in-and-out job. Now add some +P rounds into the mix and pop pop pop, you'll be watching niggas drop.
For general-purpose usage though you'll probably prefer to have a double-stack like the Fort-12, it's much more reliable for that.
Oh, and an honorable mention to the Browning HÄ°-Power with its god-tier sights that let you snipe everything from wherever you please. I can't stress how good that sight is.

I can't count how many times I've panicked and sprayed and run out of ammo in my main but still had a sidearm to save my ass. It's more useful than you think if you blow ass at video games like I do.

So how does that percentage works? +66% to protection your suit/helmet has? Or does it add another, invisible layer of protection? Mil suit doesn't really have much of either electrical or heat protection, so I couldn't see any change in bars, that's why I'm asking.

Except the description states that it includes an anomalous protection bodysuit, so it atleast should be better than the leather jacket.

Anyways in all of the Stalker games the Bulat has been a very protective and expensive late game suit, and for SoC it was the best suit to have if you wanted to be able to sprint.

Yeah AUTisM is nice but a bit on the unbalanced side, as you can get both decent roubles AND ammo in the dozens.
Personally I think the money drop rates are a little higher than they should be at times but it's no big deal, on the other hand I REALLY had to edit the files so that in average stalkers drop half the ammo they used to. Even with this tweak I still think I get a bit too much ammo sometimes.

I like it because it really cuts on grind while still having misery tier pricing on everything. Being used to broken economy of vanilla CoC with AO/STCoP I find it a welcome balance between getting all the shit and money for best armor + upgrades in day one and having enough to buy some low tier armor and repairing 1 to 2 guns.

If you want something closer to vanilla CoM get Axebeard's STCoM tweaks(mess kit that allows to cook low tier meat on campfire is a must) + lootmoney and tweak cooked mutant meat, low quality alcohol and smokes so it doesn't drain your health once consuming. I was able to save for 70k suit after 2 ingame days of lots of hunting and quests. Of course still had my weapons broken and counted every bullet for "is it profitable to kill that mutant/stalkers", but with quest money, lootmoney and ability to survive on hunted meat without having it drain my health I was still getting on +. Tho if you want to try it out don't install desolation tweaks, otherwise you want have much to hunt.

Oh don't get me wrong, I have AUTisM too (heh) and like it for the exact same reasons you described. It's just that the default ammo drop values are seriously unbalanced, like you can get ~100 5.56 rounds from just one guy (maybe even more). With my tweak I get half of that overall, which in my opinion is much more reasonable.

I already have Axebeard's tweaks as it plays nice with my tweaked AUTisM and I welcome most of the changes, but I think some others were a bit too subjective (like removing cats) so I had to tweak it too.

All in all I've been tweaking the shit out of CoM to tone down some of the harsher Misery aspects that I personally believe are not balanced for CoC, but maybe for regular CoP as it only has 3 maps to move around in. If anyone is interested I'll be happy to post my changelog.

It's already going to screw over many addons, may as well do things that needed done like reorganizing trader and item configs to make adding new items easier and avoid future addon conflicts or re-writing large parts of code for optimization. Karlik isn't' like you seen in any other mod. CoC karliks don't just run up to you and attack like a generic mutant. It required engine changes and animation changes to get them to behavior similiar to Burers.

Looking at the armor and weapons, it seems like (as usual) it's cheaper to repair things when they're only slightly damaged, but much harsher (basically unrepairable) when they fall too low. I agree with one of the comments, increase in carry weight is a bit too much. Think with the tweaks you made to weight of some often used things like frames, camelback, hunter kit and artefact containers + reduced hunger(thus less food needed to carry around) + that godsend stamina tweak it's really not necessary anymore. If you want to carry all that loot over your max capability, you should be prepared to stop every 30-40m to catch a breath.

I would add to that reduced or just deleted health drops from unhealthy food, but it's something you can do easy yourself and it might need some balancing to it too, as to not make imported food not worth it(decreasing or deleting satiety gain from cigarettes and alcohol so they just are used to flush radiation from cooked mutant meat). I just can't really see why would eating certain things made you lose health same way as getting shot.

I really don't think it can work at all, CoM already has most of it's advertised features such as helmet overlays and breathing, mutant skinning, etc. Besides, from my experience with Smurth's I can say it's lacking polish in many areas compared to CoM.

You can make any trader buy a given "type" of item by changing the "trade_generic_buy]: ********" part of their trade file to a different preset as listed at the bottom of trade_presets.ltx.

Barman for example has the [barman] tag after his buy/sell sections, which EXCLUDES him from the following item types;

[barman]:unused,trash,repair,mutants,devices,misc,drugs,artefacts,equipment

You can either give him a less restrictive parameter like [trasher] which takes virtually everything, or alter the [barman] parameter itself by adding or deleting item types from the aforementioned exclusion list.

Note that discount type and buy/sell types are independent, you can have someone offering trasher item selections, but offering barman discount parameters no problem.

Granted in this case he will now buy things like kerosene and backpacks, but its a quick lazy way to do it.

Everything involving the trade system in CoM, the presets, discounts, even supply tiers can be added to and removed effortlessly compared to a lot of the rest of the game; I've modded a few of the traders in my game to have four supply tiers instead of three to better smooth out item progression.

Regarding the stamina issue, both the player's encumbrance and stamina regen play an important role, as the heavier you get the more stamina you lose. However, just increasing the carry weight won't fix the issue entirely because the proportion would remain the same (i.e. if you were getting tired at 30/35 kg you also will at 60/70 kg).
Because of this I ended up carefully adjusting the actor.ltx file, specifically the values of satiety_power_v and walk_weight_power, as these determine stamina regen and encumbrance penalty respectively.

That's actually a gap in my knowledge I've only just started to look into right now, every generic jackass wandering around simply uses the profile from trade_generic; I'd like to eventually make it so each faction's generic stalkers have faction-based trade rules, like wandering ecologist teams paying good money for artifacts.

I'm actually stuck at the point where the game determines what trade profile a given NPC uses, unique or otherwise, but I've admittedly spent all of 10 minutes on the problem in the last few days.

Not sure you mean mine, but it's still being worked on. Helmet mod hit a wall when I realized the fake helmet and armor slots don't select fully (mod works fine, but you have to be very specific where you're clicking when changing armor).

Thanks for letting me know about the stamina and carryweight, I would like to tweak my current character to at least be able to walk and regain stamina with a decent carryweight. Although concerning the drugs with barman I think it he should carry food (you should totally include protein bars as food since its considered medicine in the trade items) cigarettes, joints, weed, cocaine, salicylic acid, etc. Stuff usually considered party drugs since I feel like like people would do stuff like this recreationally/for an escape, but not vinca, anti rads, anabiotic, etc. I do also think it would be cool if barkeep would buy/sell some of the misc/trash stuff like decks of cards, porno mags, guitars etc, but not neccassarily old ammo or broken flashlights. Just an idea, I know it would be alot of crap going through everything.

I was the one who posted earlier about adding protein bars to barkeep. I only started messing around with the trade files today actually so I wasn't really sure how hard it would actually be. Also how hard would it be to add medics to the SoC maps? 1. Sorry I wasn't so clear, neither lootmoney nor AUTisM are included. What I meant is that I also have them installed alongside my mod and even tweaked them because they went too far with the drops. Like I said, I can include it as an optional component for the next version onwards.

3. I liked the mess kit but honestly it just made the other three stoves virtually useless, not only was it free but it also cooked 3 pieces at a time. There's also the fact that I would have been including some ruskie's bloated code without permission.

So yeah, my aim is to make cooking fuel more viable instead. My idea right now is to take inspiration from the mess kit and make it possible to cook 2 meals at a time, taking care of both price and convenience issues at the same time.

Dangerous combination there son, did you make sure to merge the files altered by both mods?
Can't speak about Fieldcraft, but some of Axebeard's files are incompatible out of the box with mine mainly because of the Roadside Picnic submod he included, which adds a bunch of items and scripts.

I suspect the culprit to be Axebeard's modpack as I've discovered that some of those mods mess with CoM's files in areas where they shouldn't (not his fault though).

For boars, dogs and other small fry take assault rifles.
Bug fuckers are a certain death in many situations unless you have explosives. Pseudogiants take some training, but can be raken with F1s. Chimeras die easily from being noobtubed to the face while jumping.
Controller is obviously an easy game with a sniper rifle.

If you rely on one weapon you are going to get fucked, some hard hitting assault rifle and a fast shotgun are inevitable if you want to be secure in all cases.

Bought the yellow boxed version of ShoC the day it released. Had to ask my mom to drive me to the store in town to buy it. Read that manual over and over in the passenger seat as we drove back home afterwards.

Don't remember how I learned about this game, I think I was interested in nuclear energy and the chernobyl incident in particular so I was eager when I got wind of this.

I suppose I still got the box at my parent's home somewhere.

GOG slavs gave it(Clear Sky) to moi for freedom, but I only started playing it recently.

Since I have a newer laptop now, I thought I would test out the hardware and got somewhat addicted despite the bugs and invisble anomalies killing regularly.
